LFS on Mac

I did actually answer the OP's question. The easiest way is to install Windows in a tiny partition (10GB or so) using Boot Camp Assistant (/Applications/Utilities/Boot Camp Assistant). Then you can have your G25/DFP/Momo work well, as WINE (or Crossover / Cedega / Cider) are kinda shit.

Sure it's telling people to use Windows, but there's no real mature alternatives. Crossover is your best bet, and does run it adequately, but the FPS hit is a bit too much for my liking.

(The noise thing was just me saying stuff I've found in any "Gaming" PC's is that they produce so much heat that they need to have massive setups of cooling to prevent them from overheating.)
Use BootCamp or that program, with what you can run both OS'es side by side. It should work perfectly.
Parallels or VMware Fusion. VMWare is the best choice I think.
You're saying that Macs are not overpriced because:
Quote :PC's you haffto deal with Windows

Then recommend that the OP runs Windows on his Mac.

Macs are not overpriced because:
Quote :the warranties are all different depending on which piece of hardware dies.

Macs are not overpriced because:
Quote :PC's are ****ing ugly

Macs are not overpriced because:
Quote :PC's are all loud as heck too.

Apart from being misguided, your counter arguement doesn't make any sense.
Why does anyone buy a £60 pair of shoes when they can just buy a £5 from the market? Why do people spend £100,000 on a Ferrari, when they can get the same or better performance for £25,000.

The brand.

Lets stop this argument please, why can't people accept that some people choose to use Mac's, and some people choose to use windows? Your forever trying to pursuade each other that either is better.

The one that you use, is better for you.
I run LFS on my MacBook and sometimes in an iMac (when i'm too lazy to go to my room to get my MacBook:shy.

CrossOver Games for Mac runs LFS pretty good, although it somehow doesn't support any gameing hardware (wheel, gamepad etc.). So you'll have to do with keyboard and mouse.

Some games are 'officially supported', so those run best, but LFS does pretty well too (depending ofcourse on your mac's config.).

There's a company that uses cider to port software from pc to mac, big company's like EA already used it for 'Spore'. As Cider doesn't require to completely re-write the source code, I hope this will someday be used to make a OSX version of LFS as it's just a conversion, and not a complete rewrite.

I hope any of this awnsers the OP's question.
Il make this clear in this modern days the mac is stil graphicly supiroir to any windows.
This is becaus they are specificly build for the game makers the music makers the graphic designers.

And thats why games wich are ccompatible or macs most of the time run better smoother on macs.

The architectural advantage they once enjoyed was superceded back in the PPC days, with a lacklustre processor the fact that the graphics where technically more efficient was wasted anyway and nowadays Macs are pretty much the same as PC's with a few proprietry bits bolted on.
Sponge: Cider isn't even a rewrite or conversion. It's putting the LFS directory in an App bundle and modifying a plist file to tell it what to do.q

Okay Didn't know that.. it was a few months ago since i last checked, so my memory is a bit foggy on the subject
I've never gotten it to work. It's tempting to maybe attempt to produce a good quality and unofficial App bundle for LFS but I dunno what Scawen/Eric/Vic's idea on that would be.

If you are just gonna post negative things, **** off. Be constructive and not criticize what you do not understand.

What? Do you even understand what "specifically built" means?

An iMac uses a standard laptop GFX card which you can get in other laptops - it's in no way "specially designed"

As you clearly demonstrate that you do not know the definition of irony.

or that you need to go to specsavers as you are too blind to see it ?

Quote from G!NhO :Ok

A Mac is like a riced up honda which is bought a an unbelievebly high price, BUT yeah the shitty upgrades are very cheap! weeeeheeeeee

Windows on the other hand is like a f*cking awesome car and that costs a little more but just awesomely overpowers the shitty rice honda.

have you even used a mac before?

PC's are loud and ugly? That's the most stupid thing I've heard.
My case is alot nicer then any Apple, and the airflow is 100x better.
+ It's silent. 3x 230MM fans. Don't even hear them, the 2 zalman coolers for the VGA's are also 100% silent.
So I don't know what kind of cheap fans case PC you used, but that's just bullshit.

And with Apple you can't say 'Let's put 2 HD4850's in it', can you?

(The noise thing was just me saying stuff I've found in any "Gaming" PC's is that they produce so much heat that they need to have massive setups of cooling to prevent them from overheating.)

Mines produces alot of heat, but mine isn't loud like I said. And it's almost as good as WC. Coolers have become alot better then 10 years ago!

Well, actually, if you get a MacPro, you can put in 4

Anyway, i think this thread should be closed. Nobody is ever going to agree on anything here, and i think the OP's question has been answered.
LFS should run find in Parallels, VMWare Fusion, or VirtualBox...if not...just use Bootcamp.
Quote from Tomasevich :Mind my asking the specs of your computer?

2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB ram, ATI RadeonHD2600 256MB. That 150 fps is without any AA or anything, but with all the details in LFS on max. And it does drop down from that depending on number of cars in view. But I rarely get below 100.
Quote from Michael Denham :I run LFS on my imac in XP using bootcamp, and it runs really nicely. 1920x1200 on the 24in screen and with all the details up I get about 150fps.

How should I install bootcamp and LFS? Where i can find detailed explanation, and if that doesint exist, can you explain it to me?

Edit: I just saw that it doesnt work with hackintosh... will try parallels or VMware...

Or can someone explain to me how to get it worr with cider, because, explanation that I have is awfull
Go into Applications, then Utilities, then open 'Boot Camp Assistant'. It's pretty straight forward from there if you have your windows CD. If you still need help, search on google, there is lots of advice.
might i add (i am a windows user all of my life) macs have EXCELENT ease of use!!! they are REALLY easy once you know the general way of things

i really like windows XP, but vista, come on...maybe they should merge and make a hybrid, a no virus getting, fast, graphic, easy to use (mac), everything compatable, good for gaming, and work (PC)

Mac's aren't magically immune from virus' (or bad grammar), and wtf is "graphic".

Everything is compatible because only one person makes it - good luck getting the crazy 3rd party shit people moan about Windows not working with (i.e. 10 year old scanners) working on a Mac.

as in graphics, and macs pretty much dont get viruses...or atleast very rarely...and imagine the product they could work out!
