NoScript is also quite cool.
Loving that smooth scroller addon!

I would recommend NoHTML and NoTcpIP aswell

What's point of disabling modern feature (JavaScript)? It's like living in 90's
I just installed it and I also noticed speed increase, well done
just put 3.5 on and i noticed quite a speed increase with pages loading, almost instant now instead of taking a few seconds, sometimes more.
Ubiquity is a very cool extension too, quite handy.
Quote from Vain :At least on my singlecore laptop Opera 9.63 is vastly quicker than Firefox 3.5.
That's mostly to do with the way Opera responds to system events. It switches window focus or tabs immediately instead of having to think first like Firefox. It goes forwards and backwards also near-instantly while FF takes feeled ages to do the same task.
The addon-based SpeedDial for Firefox also completely kills the user experience. I don't want to wait for some 500ms to open a tab and see my preferred pages. Neither do I like it that Firefox takes a full tenth of a second to highlight the elements of the SpeedDial where Opera does the same task instantly.
Also, for some reason and contrary to what that study above claims, over here Opera appears to use less RAM than Firefox. Though that may be due to the setting I use in Opera whereas I used standard settings for Firefox.

On the bright side Firefox 3.5 doesn't feel quite as sluggish as older versions of Firefox did. So for people with the necessary system resources (e.g. dual core processor) it might be a good option due to the very good collection of addons.

Completely agree, the pages are now loading faster, but it's just painstakingly slow at reacting to user input... Also, I really miss middle-clicking on the tab-bar to open a new tab and I find the icon-/address-bar being below the tab-bar just makes more sense for tabbed browsing than the conventional layout of FF...

Preventing against malicious scripts on those dodgy websites you stumble upon?
If you want JavaScript/etc so bad on a website, you are always free to allow it.

Ontopic: I just installed 3.5, only the video recording plugin i had with 3.0.11 isn't compatible. Has anyone tried the Acid3 test with theirs?

8/10 it is more of an annoying feature. That said, I don't use noscript (if you use it, read this and this ) anymore but yesscript - allow all + blacklist the annoying ones.
So if Firefox is so good, why does it need 40 extensions to make it usable?
Finally it's out! It'll be an interesting summer with Chrome adding extension support. But they have to fix that trouble with VM usage.

@ dawesdust

Because nobody agrees on what the 40 essential ones are.

You know for some people Think Different was not just a marketing catchphrase

Are you trolling or is that a serious question?
Well then how come every Firefox user spends hours upon hours installing and configuring extensions every version along with arguing about what is decent. it shows a lot about the base browser when its a linux distro to set up. That screams usability.
Quite the contrary, Firefox has all the basic features out of the box, so the unexperienced users don't have to spend time configuring extensions.

Extensions are for those savvy users who want a little more out of their browser.
I wouldn't say two addons take me 'hours' to install, maybe I'm too retarded to realise I need 38 more..

I don't use any addons, never have any problems and everything works fine.

Stop being such a dick.
Well, I'm just saying. To add basic features like a "speed dial" which Chrome, Safari and Opera already has requires a slow and buggy addon? Smooth Scrolling? Need a plugin for that too.

Such a great browser, where you need a million addons to make it decent. Such a worthwhile piece of SHIT.

My IE8 doesn't need any addons - what does that make it?
Better than Firefox.

Quote from dawesdust_12 :Better than Firefox.

You are one messed up dude...
I bet you liked it if it had the name iFirefox.
Quote from boothy :My IE8 doesn't need any addons - what does that make it?

So doesn't Firefox need any addons (if you don't count plugins as addons, flash etc)

IE has addons too - what does that make it?

http://www.ieaddons.com/en/
http://download.cnet.com/windo ... orer-add-ons-and-plugins/
http:// now defunct windowsmarketplace .com - you actually had to BUY most of the addons they had

FYI: I just updated the Safari I had installed, guess what it is the same pos as is plain out of the box Firefox, I need to install addons to it too, to have it the features I want/"need" ie. Creammonkey, PithHelmet, something that does mouse gestures etc etc etc etc - what does that make it?

Better than everything.

When will you learn to stop trolling and just stfu? You love telling people to stop talking about things they have no idea about, so follow your own advice for once, because you obviously have no clue.

Firefox is faster than anything else I've used. The extensions i use took all of 2 mins to install and set up.

You don't like it..don't bloody use it. For me it's better than anything else i've used, and the same obviouly goes for a load of other people.

Your endless shit in every thread is wearing very thin. You love everything Mac..we get it. Enough already.

If you're this argumentative with people in real life I'm surprised anyone bothers to talk to you.

If he is Im suprised no one has punched him in the head yet tbh.

Is he still not banned? When are you Mod's finally going to get rid of him?

On Topic:// Firefox 3.5 is very fast Been using it since yesterday night and have had no problems! Everything work's for me without extension's too

Smooth scrolling is purely cosmetic feature from my point of view. And speed dial, what does it offer me that I can't get via bookmarks toolbar which is exactly one click?
I actually appreciate that FF doesn't come with a million features, and I don't use any plugins as I'm yet to find any that I would find useful enough...
