somasleep,
Watch some reviews, and reports, you'll learn they had the intention of making a sim, but did not want a out of the box sim, but rather combine it with the sim world and arcade world. So technically, its not exactly a sim.
As for the game. In my other post i said it was crap (other NFS"S thread), and ill still stick by that, but just abit of info for people who havent played it.
The driving feeling, and experience too, is possibly the best in any sim/game. The sounds/graphics/even the stupid effects all give you a feeling that your in that cockpit. The sence of speed is great. The interiors will mistake you for being on a game, youll forget!
The engine sounds are spot on, and the skid sounds make it. They sound like horses on fire going wild. You can hear the tyres slide which is a +. That mumbo jumbo blur etc can be abit, iffy, but its really great. There truely is nothing wrong with the game.
Wait,
The Physics!
Put it this way, if the physics where atleast made simulation, or even where real, i wouldnt be here right now, i'd be playing the game! You have the sence, and the feel of being in a race, but you just cant adapt or feel anything for real, without the physics on Shift. They are shocking! Its great for arcade, but even for arcade, id choose F1 Championship or something where its abit more realistic to drive. They have missed points that really hurt.
Some people may say, Graphics, effects, sounds etc make a simulator, a simulator needs to simulate everything! While that is very true, this game proves maybe it isnt. Maybe its all about the physics! And boy it is.
Without physics, you have Shift. Without mumbo jumbo and having physics, you have Live For Speed. I cant make it anymore breif.
So because im NOT an LFS fanboy or whatever, but a sim enthusist, i would perfer to spend my time on the box playing LFS rather then Shift. Sure LFS lacks those graphics, effects and even the sounds (which to me, are more important then graphics, effects, content. Id rather have a propper done sound system to have more sence of the car, then have the Nurburg ring or something!), its just that damn better as a simulator. I wanted to even perhaps get Shift for an arcade racing game to have fun, but.. maybe Undercover or something, you just cant mix arcade with simulation, its not fun, its not exciting, its just an illousion.
And look, LFS, GTR, iRacing. Whatever, i ment them all when i said LFS (not quite 100%, but im comparing Shift with LFS or GTR say or something like that, where its focused as a sim 100%)
Thanks.
