NASCAR Style Car in LFS
The oval, in my mind, is boring. If, by any chance, the developers could give us a NASCAR style stock racer, it would make the oval a lot more interesting, for sure.
i still say yes

and we should also have an indy like car too to go along with it

that way we can have.. really close races with the nascar cars

A stock car must come with all its adjustments though - wedge and things like that (I'm not sure what others... don't follow it much). Its setups and racing that are to some extent interesting on the oval. Anyone who holds an oval WR should be shot on the spot. Same goes for anyone who has uploaded a time for a hotlap on the oval.
That's gonna be a lot to fiddle around with when you play with the set ups.
only makes it that more fun (and realistic)
cause you'll always be messing with different tires.. and pressures and all sorts of small things to gain the fractions of a second to gain places

If you look to the left hand side of your name, you'll see a little red, white and blue flag. That'll explain why you find the oval boring, (its not really our cup of tea, now is it my good fellow, what-what !!)

But seriously, i have to admit, i've had some really good race's there in the GTR's (no wreakers/noobs/newbie's) 30 lap races with compulsory pitstops, and loads of overtaking. (even though i very rarely go in there, and never since Patch U)

And, to be perfectly honest, i find it less boring than Aston National (flat out, tight turn, flat out, tight turn, flat out.....etc) even with a full field ( after the 1st corner carnage, you end up driving the entire race alone )

As pointed out, we need many more setup options before you get a real representation of NASCAR. In NASCAR the driver is only part of the equation but the rest of the race takes part in the garage while the car is setup for the track. Not sure if the LFS aero engine will be up to the real demands of the NASCAR setup freaks though.

While I dont pretend to be a fan of NASCAR I do delieve that LFS needs a good representation of NASCAR type cars along with Aussie V8s. These cars are so obvious in their exclusion of the car roster now.
Well, the BF1 has separate settings that all the other cars don't have, so why can't we have separate settings for a stock-car?
I have been saying about the lack of proper setup options for oval racing in LFS since S2 was released. Finally, some others agree. It's Wedge and Stagger that is missing.

Also, the oval we have in LFS right now is the biggest problem in Nascar at the moment. Nascar is ridding themselves of the originals and the GOOD tracks and moving to new "cookie cutter" tracks that are all the freakin same. 1.5 to 2 mile tri-oval tracks. We need something like they ran tonight, Darlington!!! Asphalt that eats tires within several laps... Less than 1.5 miles... Egg shaped so you have 2 distinctly different turns on either end with 2 different lines through them...

One of my favorite Nascar tracks was Charlotte. It is a 1.5 mile speedway. Nascar is screwing everything up though by taking the Rockinghams and the Darlingtons out and building copies of Charlotte all over the western coast and central US. They take Charlotte and change a little banking in the corners, change the tri-oval a little bit and call it Chicago, Las Vegas, California, Texas, etc. The history of Nascar is leaving for the future of Nascar and all that future is, just like everything else, is money money money. They took away 1 race at Darlington, my favorite race. They took away both races at Rockingham, probably my 2nd favorite. I saw signs waving in the background of the pre-race show "Bring back North Wilksboro" and they also took away Nazareth quite some time ago. Interesting oval track that on was. What's next? Get rid of Martinsville and Bristol so they can build yet 2 more Charlottes in South Dakota and Wisconsin?

Ok, I'm starting to rant. You have to forgive me. I know what the majority opinion of Nascar is here. But you have to understand, with our TV coverage, it's about the only racing we have to watch. And, until the last 5 years, Nascar was actually pretty good.

So Rockingham doesn't exist then? The idea of racing on an oval began with Brooklands which was also British, and had the best start line of all ovals ever built

Not forgetting Mallory (OK, it's a bit mickey mouse) and the proposed silverstone 1/2 mile

Brooklands wasn't your average oval. How many ovals have a right hand kink in them?

Actually, thats not entirely true. Brooklands was the first oval built with banked turns (1907). The first Oval race was in 1896 at the Rhode Island State Fair.
"Oval track racing began at about the same time as professional sports, when promotors found that the public would pay to see sporting events, a situation that offered promotors a chance to make a buck or two. Oval racing soon became a professional sport." (quote) "Vintage Oval Racing" by Don Stauffer

Not that i'm the least bit bothered when or where, (or indeed, getting into an argument about it )

Still, it's a shame when old tracks with so much history and charisma such as Brooklands, ends up like this:-
^^ Not the greatest of pics

lets try again:-

Well, if we get realistic Nascar-races, then I'm all with you. I just can't endure people who take the BF1 to the oval. Oh, the pain! *passes out*

While I personally support all manner of cars in LFS, although I do think that if you get too many different cars you fragment your user base a lot, but really if you want NASCAR cars on the ovals, your best bet is to pick up a copy of NASCAR Racing 2003. This is still the absolute best that I am aware of (although I have not tried the latest incarnation of EA's game either) for stock car racing. As noted by others, there are some specific setup options that those cars use to deal with the ovals which are generally not available on most other racing cars.

Speaking of, I don't think that there is a solid rear-axle in LFS yet is there?
Rockingham is a great venue, I went to watch the IHRA across the road whilst I was in North Carolina and paid a quick visit. I would of loved to have been able to watch NASCAR there.
