Just a thought I had recently ... but why not use the points (that aren't used anymore) as a anti wrecker tool.
You need x amount to points to unlock a car.
This means that you have to practise and win with the slow cars first.
You gain points for winning races BUT you lose points for causing accidents.
Example :
Let's say you need 5k to unlock the sauber and you have 5050 points.
You join an online race with the F1 car, you crash 6 times during that race, taking out 12 other cars so you would loose 120 points.
This would inhibit you from joining another race with that car until you have earned enough points again.
