LX Texture,
has anyone already made a better carbon looking wheel guards??

if not were can i find the texture, i cant find it anywere.

cheers chris.
must be a dds file somewhere because its not part of the skin
It uses Carbon.dds. Just tile it so that it's a finer and it'll look a bit better.
i just wish we could get rid of the green tint on it

#6 - stay
Here are a few carbon replacement textures. Mixture of 256x256 and 512x512.

Some are concocted from the carbon fibre texture on the Cromo steering wheel centre. The others are generated from another source.

To try, backup the carbon.dds file in your lfs\data\dds folder, extract the zip into the same folder and rename one of the files to carbon.dds.

Well, the dds was a little green, and i greyscale'd it.
Yeah, but it is a real shame that the fenders have a tint to them. I've wanted to color them for so long, but noooo I actually really want them to be skinnable, so we can have matching color fenders with decals on them... like the real thing. And if someone wanted to still use the carbon texture, that could be part of the default skin
agreed

LFS models use vertex colouring and shading.. the reason why white often looks grey / silver ingame too in some lights.. not sure why the bodies have a grey tint to them tbh, must be a reason but I suspect that's the issue with the mudguards.. and the reason why some parts of cars are white when rendered and need painting black in the interior texture files

I think the problem is that LFS using 16bit texturing and it makes the final result different.

Dunno why?
just darken the original texture.
- most of the green tint will go away then.
its still green... i promise you, i've done it before

I DID say "most" didnt I.

Nothing to do with 16-bit textures. Open a model an LFS model in 3DS, right-click on the car body, select 'properties'. Now look for the checked 'Use Vertex Colour' and the pressed in 'Shaded' button.

Select a single poly of the body, then look under the smoothing groups. The main car bodies all have a grey colour.. I suspect the LX mudguards have a different colouring.. windows have a green tint etc etc etc... doesn't matter what you do with textures.
