The online racing simulator
G25 looks better. Bit thinner than the G27.
When my G25 dies I'll probably grab a G27, but that hasn't happened and I believe it'll keep going for another few years.
Hmm, my DFP died, and logitech did me a good offer, so if i have money and the G27 will be released i may actually buy it..
I have a G25, but i couldnt help myself and went to buy a G27.
I was also very sceptic about it caus it doesnt look very different...
However it does feel different... a lot

-The wheel makes almost no sound now (i only hear the leather sliding threw my hands, no force feedback sounds at all compared to the g25)
-The wheel is a bit faster imo but i might be wrong.
-The wheel itself feels much better to turn and to easier to grip than the G25 which i totally didnt expect.
-The shifter is way more solid and I think they did a good job with improving that, even if it is a pitty the seq. shifting option is removed. That doesnt bother me anyway.
-The pedals are the same imo, but u can adjust them indeed if u want to.
-The Leds on the wheel are mostly show-aspect, but then again they might come in very handy. I havent been able to make them work in LFS yet, have to do some google work for that.

I think Logitech did a succesful upgrade and at first i didnt think i would say this, but it is wurth its money.
I went from G25 to G27 and have no regrets at all!

PS: I also wanted the wheel to have faster FFB, but then i realized that the wheel could perhaps not been sold on a normal market. (the G25 and G27 have already a no-kids warning and its for a reason!).
So i fear that the G25-G27 will never be updated in FFB-speed.
A wheel that turns twice the speed like the G25 (like FREX or ECCI) is simply not gaming gear for the normal market anymore. Not in price, not in safety, ...

All by all,
G27 is succesfu imo.
keep up the good job , Logitech.
Well, i just got one myself.
A friend of mine offered me good money for my G25, so i went out and bought the G27. First impression is very good... Silent, these buttons are quite usefull, the gearbox feels much better also...
Now, the rev limiter lights don't work on LFS, so i'll try to find something about that.
If anyone already knows how to get it working, please reply, thanks.
Logi G27
I just bought my self a G27 upgrading from my Logi formula GP FFB (not working cause i run vista and FFB drivers only work up to XP. LOL) Cant wait by the sounds of it most of you like it and I havent owned a G25 so not missing anything in my eyes.

If anyone knows how to get the shift lights workin in LFS please shoot me a pm.

Thanks alot for everyones feedback.
Someone needs to write an application for it.

Nobody has yet, as most people who bought G25's, think it's a minimal upgrade to buy a G27.

Imo alot of us feel for a similar price the Fanatec 911 GT3 RS Clubsport Edition is alot better.
Goo (Logitech):

When will you guys buy a frex, look what they have done. Do the same but for alot less of money and bring some improvement.

Und voila. You would have the killer wheel, Im sure many here are willing to pay for decent hardware. But 2 grand is a tad much really.

Make a new great product, the g27 feels really lame when you really think about what you guys couldve done.

Shame on you for not taking the lead on this!

I doubt "a lot" of people feel that way, when if you polled sim racers with wheels, most of them (I'd say 95%) are using a Logitech wheel, then there's some using Thrustmaster, Microsoft Wheels, crappy no-name ones. Then maybe a few morons using a Fanatec wheel.

I still can't get over the shifter on the Fanatec wheels. It looks like a piece of garbage, although the whole wheel is over priced as you're not paying for the wheel. You're paying for the Porsche branding.

Let me re-phrase that: "Imo alot of Sim Racers see the Fanatec as a better upgrade over a G25 than a G27."

The pedals are in a league of there own! Sure you pay for branding but the wheel is just as good as the G27. Although I do agree the shifter isn't exactly great from what I have heard.

The G27 is a quiet G25 with a few extra buttons, same crappy pot based pedals with a silly pedal moving feature and they take a backwards step by removing the sequential shifter. Not much of an improvement in my eyes, eh?
I've had my G25 since launch, and do you wanna know how many times I've used it in sequential mode?

Zilch.

Nada.

I find more use in paddles if I'm gonna drive a sequential shift car. I don't see how the Fanatec pedals are anything different than the Logitech ones. Give me something with Load-cells, and it'll be awesome, but at at this point, what's different other than a few springs to vary the weight of the pedal?

Also, I've heard some great storys on people recieving their Fanatec wheels. Such as 6 month delays, and this isn't like on launch, this is RECENTLY... I'm pretty sure I'd take a G25 or G27 when I can get it overnight (at fastest) to 3 days (at slowest) from a selection of retailers.

Also, I'm sure that your wording change matters nothing, as you've just made sure to say that "OWNERS OF FANATEC WHEELS THINK THEIR PIECE OF CRAP IS BETTER THAN A LOGITECH WHEEL!", when if most sim racers think Fanatec wheels are better than Logitech ones, why do a majority of wheel users own a Logitech wheel?

Just because you never used a feature once, doesn't mean no-one else does.

Rally games, the sequential stick is quite useful. Also Flappy paddles is useless if you're in it for 720+ degrees of lock. I know V8 supercars have sequential stick to.
? Same for BTCC and DTM ? sorry I don't know for sure.
I use all three, seq, h-gate & flappy where appropriate.

To me however, flappy paddles in anything other than a Single Seater feels ugly. Having the option in the G25 is a big selling point. They removed it because the interior wire plug came off or broke after the user switches it a few times. Simple design flaw fixed by removing a feature. Yay.

Well lot's of people do miss that feature

Also I mean that people who own a wheel now, seem to prefer an upgrade of a Fanatec wheel over the Logitech. Of course Logitech have more users, they have been around a long time!
If I needed a new wheel, I'd stick with Logitech, simply for support reasons. Any logitech wheel I've had that's broken, I've had it replaced within 2 weeks, mail them the USB end, and the sent a new wheel.

Show me that Fanatec even has that kind of warranty support and I might (no I ****ing won't, becuase the wheels are ugly, and look like shit) consider one.

I agree with you on that. I have a G25 for ages, and in the begin it was nice, but now (like all my Logitech wheels) they start to break. I mean bigtime. Cogs, plastic snapping, h-shifter doing weird, alot noise.

So once my G25 is dead, the fanatec is #1 thing I will buy. Logitech is fun IMO, but it just doesn't last. They use cheap plastic crap, and pot-meters, which suck.

And the fanatec looks sexy, orange with Porsche logo, and those pedals... <3

Thats the main reason I won't be buying Logitech again, pot meters. They are rubbish! So many people have had them break or go funny (like mine, throttle jumps about).

The Fanatec way of using a Magnet system is not only more reliable but also more accurate
Pot's aren't really unreliable, nor are they hard to change.

I also love how my question on the quality of Fanatec's warranty was passed by without answer... probably because it can't match Logitech's quality of warranty at all.
My G25 is reliable as heck (except the shifter), I bought the very first batch and the pedals + wheel is as tight as ever, I am pretty tough on wheels (Snap the shaft clear oof a MOMO once) and the G25 stood up very well against my abuse.

Now I have a aftermarket shifter, I just need the load sensitive brake mod to make it complete

I would love to have a fanatec, but there are no dealers which will ship to my region, so unfortunately it is out of the equation.

I have never used Logitech or Fanatec's warranty/help etc so Im not in a position to answer that
I can only tell that Logitech's waranty support is very good! Quick response, and even if you don't have warranty they always have a good deal ready for you.

Well, everyone knows that Logitech's support is pretty awesome (pretty much unanimous among sim racers) for quick shipping, easy RMA procedures (sending in the USB end, rather than the massive whole setup) and just overall easyness.

I doubt Fanatec can come close to that.

Does logitech also send cogs?
Quote from Bose321 :Does logitech also send cogs?

More to the point, do they send out the gut's for the wheel and pedals? Maybe if they made them a bit better my G25 would last longer than 5 minutes.
Or maybe if you weren't overly harsh on it, it'd last.

(Mine's still one of the original batches, and it's good as new. Perfect shifter, wheel and pedals, I even have a Momo Racing that works perfectly as well)
