Well that's where your problem is, you have a mainstream digital camera. Most of this cams have "digital zoom", wich is mainly cropping and enlarging the image, as opposed to "optical zoom" wich affects the field of view of the camera.
I'm 18, and I remember taking pics with my dad's cam some time ago, when digital cameras weren't around, and could get that effect whenever I wanted it.
You should not be able to see clouds in the sky if you have a xenon headlight right in front of your retina. Also the road or the car's aren't illuminated by the headlights that by the way look like little suns that shine through a foggy forest.
Those images seem... ok I guess. the only problem I see are the shadows. they are too sharp.
I think lynce is moving on. As he said he hasn't been editing pictures much, but that is because he has been doing other pieces of art for lfs like the brake discs, the car menu backgrounds and soon the new reflections.
