iphone problem
On my iphone the bit on the phone where you put the plug on either the charger or USB the bit you plug it into has moved so its at an angle to the bottom of the phone and now it wont charge or work with the pc, i want to take it back to O2 but seeing as ive only had it 3 months i'm not willing to have it repaired because ive payed a lot for the phone and paying a lot for the contract.

Has anyone else had similar problems to this and/or had to deal with O2 about getting a replacement iphone for a faulty one without having to use the insurance.
my mate has a 3gs he dropped it in a puddle and cracked the back and he did something else and they just replaced it

Don't you usually get 2 years warranty on a electrical thing?
If yes, just use the warranty.
well went into the store this afternoon they said that either i send it off for 2 weeks to be repaired (with NO rental phone to have in this period) or i phone up customer service and get a new one for £25 on insurance but i will loose my apps that i have payed for and they dont give a toss. O2 really have ballsed up on this one, i'm seriously thinking of cancelling my direct debit because as it is im paying £50 a month which is £10 more than the contract states.
have you looked at Oranges deals.

ive got an iphone 3G for £30 a month.

also if you have synced your iphone with your computer since you last downloaded apps that cost you will only have to re download them.

you wont have to buy them even if you get a new iphone.

Aren't the apps bound to the account rather than the phone?

dont you have your apps sinked to your itunes? then it';s just as simple as installing them again...

Are you serious?
It's like you think you have to buy it because it's fashion.
Anyways, enjoy your purchase

Isn't there already a google phone? Anyway, I guess people don't wanna have all their calls observed (*cough* Chrome *cough*)

I wouldn't care, I'm not a terrorist.

I don't own a google phone though =P
Just "drop" it and claim on the insurance. Presumably you've got insurance, right? I guess that's the extra £10 (!) per month above the contract price?

it's an htc bravo anyway it isn't a bad phone, but in 2010 it could be better
phoned them up and they are refusing to replace it because it hasnt been deemed unrepairable by the engineers but what am i paying £50 a month for if i cant even claim for a new phone when my one that i've had 4 months is faulty? its total bullshit O2 suck and i will NOT be using them again for contract. Also why should i have it sent for repair because if my phone gets lost then it still doesnt get replaced (this is what i was told by bother customer services and in store)

If you think that any purchase you've ever made was rational and not emotional then you do not understand the human psyche or marketing. Every purchase has a predominantly emotional element, and the iPhone is way more sassy than the Android.

I havn't paid much attention to the Android but from what i've seen it's not superior to the iPhone in every department - so sweeping statements of your own emotional purchasing choice being superior to another persons emotional purchasing choice is somewhat irrellevent.

@trebor901: From the very first post you where not accepting what O2 told you even before you contacted them. They where never going to win because your phone had a defect - which may or may not have been a manufacturing fault by a totally unrelated company who you've not blamed.

What's wrong with getting your phone repaired anyway?

Your statutory rights give you cause for complaint if and when O2 fail to make reasonable efforts to resolve your issue. Arguing the toss with them before you even contacted their customers services is not giving them a reasonable chance to resolve your issue.

Just saying.

Hardly faulty, you've broken it.

Android is better than the iPhone OS in *every* way, however because of the iPhones locked down design everything runs very very slick. I had my first (proper) go on an iPod Touch the other day and i'm pretty much sold - the software keyboard is the best i've used (I can type as fast on that as on the hardware keyboard on my phone) and everything is so fluent compared to my laggy G1 (to be fair i'm used to laggy smartphones), however I cannot possibly bring myself to spend £500 on one. £250 is all it's really worth imo and thats all i'll pay...
