I did some research and found it was Van Der Steur racing team with a radical and Gunnar Van Der Steur resides maryland. Most likely they were heading to or from a shop i guess or maybe summit point.
Would they really do testing at Summit point? I'd have thought it'd be much, much too small for a proper LMP test.
Not many road courses in this area. Only about 3 road courses all spread out hundreds of miles apart. BeaveRun in PA , Summit point and VIR way down in southern VA.
I'd imagine VIR is where most of their testing is done, then. Doubt they'd use circuits too small to really stretch the legs of the vehicle; not much of a shakedown.

agreed 100% even if it is further i think a proper team like they are will go the extra miles to do a proper test and shakedown

Quote :The ACO launches the “2010 Le Mans Intercontinental Cup”

During its press conference at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours in June, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest confirmed its intention to link the various Le Mans Series, so in 2010, it will launch a cup reserved for entrants in the top endurance category, LM P1.

This cup will be held on 3 continents in 3 races that are already part of the different series run under the Le Mans label.

This American/European/Asian triple crown will kick off at Silverstone (13th September) in the Le Mans Series. The second round will be the Petit Le Mans (2nd October) in the American Le Mans Series, and the final one will take place on the Asian continent in an Asian Le Mans Series event in November.

A teams’/manufacturers’ classification for the “2010 Le Mans Intercontinental Cup” will be established on the basis of the overall results of these races.

The “2010 Le Mans Intercontinental Cup” prefigures the creation of a world trophy for the 2011 season, which will be run in compliance with the new ACO regulations: it will consist of 6 races minimum. A more detailed presentation of the world trophy will be made before the end of March 2010.

Quote :Audi announcement:

Audi will contest the new Le Mans Intercontinental Cup in the 2010 season with two R15 TDI cars fielded by Audi Sport Team Joest. Three cars are planned for the 24-hour race at Le Mans on June 12/13. Audi Sport Team Joest plans also to contest the 1000-kilometer race at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), which Audi would like to use as a dress rehearsal for Le Mans, with three cars.

I hope they are working on some big changes to their challengers, or else, they will get their arses handed to them again by the PUG's....

cool, now we need some more manufacturers to enter LMP1. With Hondas and Toyotas withdrawal from F1, and the new Asian Lemans Series ... *drool*
I like it, the sports car racing scene is too fragmented and confusing at the moment, its needs some sort of unified series like this, like it used to be.

Hopefully it'll be expanded in future.
Expansion in 2011 is the plan it seems. Minimum of 6 races. Not only is this needed for "unification" but it is needed to give the manufacturers reason to race whole year besides the odd "test races" here and there. Le Mans is just one weekend of fame...
Bumpidy Doo, i know this is not really from the LMS nor FIA series,
but Speedhunters is covering the 24h Dubai race with lots of pics and commentary (and having their own Porsche drivin' team).
Should be around 80 cars on track.

I guess there will be MotorsTV coverage like last year, too.

Quote :Seeing an iPhone in a cradle in the German-run Red Motorsport Lotus Exige was a surprise - is there really time to Twitter when you're hammering round the track. It turns out there's a GPS-based lap timer app that a lot of teams now use - there's truly an app for everything...

Anyone know any streams for 24h Daytona?
Thanks.

Looks wet.
it's wet, but drying out in places, which is making for a pretty interesting race right now
yeah, i lol'd at the suntrust dallara when it had a puncture..
Speed. Worst. Channel. Ever.

Adverts every 5mins...
bring on the slicks!

EDIT: yeah, speed sucks, but it's all we've got.

EDIT2: Noooooooooooooooo poor Zonta... He was going so well.
zonta kissed the wall

edit:

i love that yellow M6 and the Camaro
and he's off again... but still going, I thought he was going to have damage and have to come in.

Slicks seem to be working well on the GT cars, but making it touch and go with prototypes.
Too much power, too little grip.
oh my god, AMERICAN ADVERTISING. Order your potty patch today!

edit: is there a link to watch this a standalone media player? That flash site uses like 50% of my notebooks cpu, fans spinning like crazy
never mind, all types of cars are going off

The Potty Patch was such a good deal. I ordered mine today, and got the second one free!
