Stansted is the nearest airport to me, it is classed as a London airport but is a little North of London. I live about an hours drive North of London, so Stansted is best. If you can't get Stansted then Heathrow and Gatwick are doable but is going to cost more petrol and take a while to drive to/from.

If you have to go for Heathrow or Gatwick airports expect to be introduced to Britain by it's motorways ! Unless somebody more local can pick you up.

Searching planes, seems Stansted is doable, or Gatwick. If it turns out to be Gatwick I'll of course pay for the fuel, that's the least I could do for causing all the problems
