More of a 'fruit booter' assuming your using it in a jokingly manner. Aggressive inline-skating for those that don't know the term. It is tossed by skateboarders, some as insult and others for fun - depending on tone. But I get along with a lot of skateboarders, afterall the two sports/activities are similar at some level, even if the equipment and techniques are different.
Anyways, my tip for you would be to find out if you enjoy it. If so, stick with it. And keep practicing. I can't give you tips on the board, but practicing constantly is the way to improve. Find what you like about it; half-pipe? ramps? flat ground perhaps? or rails? Many different styles suit different people. Do some research on proper equipment care, I got lucky and did this as a school project, but that research paid off that I would recommend doing it even if it isn't for school (assuming you enjoy and plan on doing this for some time). It helped me make wheels last longer, bearings faster and better and last longer etc. Of course, this stuff helped more with the long run.
My final tip, wear pads. Don't think it's stupid or care about the looks. When you can get back up roll after roll, you will appreciate it. Also you will tend to have a bit more confidence - of course don't go overboard with the confidence level. Stay within your limits, play it smart. Do try new things, even if inherently dangerous - it is a rush and can be done. But NEVER do them without working up the basic skills and have a solid understanding of what needs to be done. Even something you've done 1000's of times can still go wrong.
