Bump...

Anyone with Chrome got a colour change?

Turned on today and noticed this horrible green-ish colour instead of the usual nice blue-ish.

Not exactly green, but its this green/grey-ish colour where the bookmarks sit. That strip used to be blue-ish.

So its just me....

Dammit....

E - There you go... https://tools.google.com/chrom ... themes/theme_classic.html

See how its a nice navy blue colour.

Seriously, ATi cant fecking render blue colours...

Its fine everywhere else... Just Chrome...
Been like that for a while in the version 6 dev builds. Version 6 just went to stable, so I guess you got it when upgrading.
lol so chrome users are not even aware that their browser is updated?

So Google think this looks better?

Are they blind or what? Its dead ugly...

majod - Yeah... Seems so...
Quote from DevilDare :So Google think this looks better?

They've got quite a lot of criticism for it yes.
Urgh...

Well the least the could do is add a color palette or something...
why not just get a custom theme
Quote from JasonL220 :why not just get a custom theme

Yeah thats what I ended up doing...

Just that all themes these days tend to be dark... I loved the simple navy blue...

Seriously, why do big companies and developers always mess around. Does the term, "if its not broken, dont fix it" not apply to them....
Quote from DevilDare :"if its not broken, dont fix it"

Imho, this term itself is broken. I've never liked it. It kind of sounds like "don't make something better if it works already". Makes no sense to me.

But then again, that's just me.
Just going to slide a slightly related question in. What browser does the PS3 use as standard and can it be updated or changed without installing Linux?

They use a proprietary browser developed by Sony for the PS3. It is not possible to change the browser as far as I know.
Is there any way I could move my tabs etc from FF to chrome?

I'm having real pain with firefox getting stuck constantly, helped a little by disabling plugincontainer but not enough..
Ah ok thanks. Most websites say my browser is outdated.
Wow.. chrome is just.. wow. If I save the password, it will show the password from the options, just wtf!? A huge security risk.

E: as does firefox.. ok.. never knew this before.

And you can get software that reads off any passwords saved in IE.

Not a massive security risk - if you dont share a user account with someone.
Is chrome supposed to have 6 processes running and every of them using memory quite a lot? :S
Each tab has it's own proccess, iirc. About memory usage - I haven't noticed it using too much. After all, I was using Chrome on my desktop PC, which is like 10+yo, and it was actually fast (comparing it to firefox and IE).

Each tab is a different process in Chrome... means one dead tab doesn't kill the whole app. Does use *slightly* more memory this way, but have you seen the memory usage of Firefox recently?

(when I say "recently" i mean in the 2-3.5 versions where it memory leaked like a bitch...)

The main limit of Chrome's speed is CPU. And even then, as long as you have something over a 1 GHz Celeron, it's usable...
Yeah, I understand now I'm quite happy with this now, a lot better than ff.

Btw, how to get more links on the new tab page? I mean the ones where you can see 8 windows originally.. I want more of them

Opera doesn't. It won't show you any passwords you have saved, it just allows you to fill them in when you are on a website and after you press a button. It doesn't go on filling everything even when you don't want to, thus making it even safer and not possible for malicious code to get your data. Other browsers do have problems with this and it's possible to get their data (FF, I'm looking at you. Chrome too if I'm not mistaken).

Opera was the first browser ever with this feature (Speed Dial, also shows thumbnails of the pages) and it allows up to 25 by default. Up to infinity when changing the browser files.
I don't know how to change this on FF that's why I didn't answer that question with something more relevant

In Firefox, it's possible to setup master-password, which encrypts all saved passwords.

Each site, not each tab. Try opening, for example, 20 lfsforum tabs.

There's no way atm, but you can use https://chrome.google.com/exte ... hapkfcndahchhlonejnjdaikj

It takes ~5 mins to decrypt wand.dat manually, and 5 seconds do decrypt it using widely available software.

There's still no ridiculously easy way to steal one's passwords from Opera as there is on other browsers. When the user is browsing the web with Opera, you'll need access to his hard drive to open the wand data and some software to decrypt it. However on other browsers all you have to do is have a very simple script on a website to get all the data the browser deliberately fills in without you wanting it to, or someone else using your PC just open the settings and see all your passwords. There's just no comparison between the extra level of security Opera gives its users, whereas other browsers just fill in all of their data on every field they find.
Currently I'm using Google Chrome, simply because it's fast. I too noticed the colour change.
Safari bro.
