Demo Drivers + More Cars & Tracks: S2?
Some of you might remind, I just got my S2 license 2 weeks ago. First of all I have to say S2 is a very good fun. I enjoyed all the racing I've done. It's been pretty good so far. But there's something pissing me off.

Before I buy my license all the people I know who have S2s told me that the S2 servers are full respectful drivers. Might not be professionals but at leats not like the ones in the demo servers. Of course there are some drivers like that but after 2 weeks with S2...eerm I can say this: There's nothing different than the demo servers There are only more cars, tracks and a bit faster drivers everything else is the same. I haven't joined a server which had no crash at corner #1. People using "bad" words ALL THE TIME.

Of course I wasn't that perfect eighter but I'm trying to be fair. Sometimes when somebody hits you and then says "you noob" you can get a bit angry and reply him/her in the same way etc.

If you don't want to read whole this thing, here's quickly what I mean: I just came from a place where the "noob" word is the most common but where I came it's worse..
Try to take part in organised races. The racing is much better there.
Yes, S2 = Demo + Tracks & Cars. Actually that's the very definition of S2

Another thing added is proper banning, but unfortunately it seems that the general public hasn't yet figured out that also S2 license holders can be asshats and deserve a kick or a ban sometimes. The days where "S2 license = nice and fair racer" are long over, so, while we have the tool, it's heavily underused, especially concerning vote kicks/bans. Fortunately the newly formed "wrecker barricade" is a step in the right direction

What is this? I've seen it mentioned in another thread, but I don't think I came across it in LFS.

Racing behaviour in public S2 servers is at an all time low, demo servers are probably a better bet for a decent race ATM....

Dan,
Hi Racedoctor,

I don't know what it's like on demo-servers right now as I don't go there, so I can't really say if S2 full is worse or the same as far as wrecking goes. But what I know is this: There are a lot of servers with fair and clean races and only very seldomly do I come across races or servers where a lot of foul language is used and much wrecking, intentional or not, is going on. This might be due to the fact that most of the time I find myself racing on well-known team servers. I mostly end up on "Mercury Racing #1" recently (well, not too recently as I had absolutely no time to race) or, some weeks ago, on the NASSA servers. Reason being that they always run the OLFSL combos, the league I'm participating in.

So one advice would be to join a league or organized events (as said before) to have some nice racing. You might want to have a look at OLFSL. The good thing is that all kinds of racers of different skill levels come together there and the events always guarantee some close competition.

The second advice would be, that even if you don't feel like joining a league, checking their race calendars might be a good idea. You are likely to find a server running the combo of the upcoming events with a bunch of serious racers who are practicing for it. Wrecking and foul language should be the exception on those.

Dude I realized it too, in my firstly weeks of S2.When I purchasing my license, one thing in my mind; "there are no wreckers, there are no unfair ppl,S2 is a place like heaven, flowers, rivers...".I realized that S2 have not much different drivers from Demo. When I trying to take off my "noobness" shirt with racing in oval servers, i learned the truth I was trying to not wreck anyone and be a good driver. But when ppl ram into your car then start to shout like "f**kin' no0b!!11" it reminds me demo.I know there are so much good drivers and organizations, but there are so much impatient and intolarent wreckers.Maybe this "wrecker barricade" will be good point for stop that ppl.

I'm probably going to step on people's toes here, but I would say if there's one place you shouldn't go if you don't want to get yelled at or called a noob or meet idiots, it would be the oval.

But i learned that after 3 weeks
strange..i'm s2 licensed since the begininng and never saw demo acting in s2.. hmmm some stupid moves yea but i never saw something worse than that.

i'm lucky

btw, there will ALWAYS be T1 incedents, but they are less severe in S2

You picked the wrong track, the oval is a pretty decent noob-filter
I haven't noticed any of the actions you guys have posted. I've had great experiences with S2. The only bad things I've seen is someone cutting on BL Rallyx rev. Other than that, it's been fine. Have no idea what you guys are talking about tbh
I personally haven't seen ONE wrecker in any server i've been in. And i havent just stuck to one server, i been on any that has a decent amount of racers. Also, if i hit someone / someones hit me i've / they have said sorry instantly and its happy racing there after.

As far as T1 accidents i seen loads and i think i casued one or two, not on purpose. First time in the FOX on SO Clasic and me thinking i can brake later and turn sharper due to the slicks...NOPE, locked wheels, managed to miss a few people, take the inside, hit the wall on the way out and fook the whole race up. Another time was, again, my first time in the XRR on International or something. Me thinking, again, slicks allow me to brake later, nope. Carrered right into the leader, knocked him out and took a few others with us. But again, i said sorry and that it was my first time in that car / track due to new licence and the race restarted and everyone was happy.

Oval has been alright for me. Minor accidents (not caused by me) in the BF1 and no noob calling or swearing. I even got 2 sets out of it

That is simply NOT TRUE !!!
I have seen wreckers, but not really that much. And if they were intentional wreckers, they didn't last long on the server. So I think you just pick the wrong servers.

When I crash into someone, and my race is over, I will appoligise, if I feel it really was my mistake, and should have done it otherwise. But when the crash is a result of not a real mistake, and if the other one says nothing, I won't say anything either. And just keep driving happily. Or maybe when I just don't have the time after contact, I say nothing either. Maybe after the race if I haven't forgotten about it.

So just try some different servers, you just had some really bad luck!

I've done a bit of racing on demo servers recently, and I find the racing cleaner then on some of the S2 servers. It's like all the wreckers have got S2 now leaving the demo free for people who want to race.
My biggest issue with S2 behaviour is with certain individuals who are fast and think they are the bees knees. They seem to think that weaving is a perfectly legitimate tactic as well as forcing cars off the road. When you speak to them about it they either deny any knowledge of doing it or explain how it is a legitamate move. These people will unfortunatley escape the wrecker banning schemes but pose a far bigger threat to ending your race (whether racing them, lapping them or being lapped) than the odd intentional wrecker that are seen in S2 servers (I can remember very few incidents of intentional wrecking but plenty of false accusations).

I think servers will become cleaner when the damage model is started (sorry it's only a slight wrecker deterant atm IMO), with realistic damage 1 touch = race over in single seaters, harsh but fair (+ realistic).

For T1 - possibly a server option to put yellow flags out round the first few corners of lap 1 to stop passing like they do at Pau (although I really don't like this concept)
I've been plaing DEMO LFS for a small while now, and DEMO isn't all that bad. Yes there's many immature noobs that don't stop wrecking races and all, but often enough, I meet a good deal of cool people. Plus those wreckers often enoguh get kicked/banned. I guess the advantage in S2 (I heard) is that for some reason, people get on the "black list" fasdter and all, which somehow removes those kinds of things. IIf I accumulate the good positive aspects of the DEMO world and increase it to give S2, then it looks like a happy place. Another thing that adds to all that is that to be liscenced, you'll need to pay, and I'd find it pretty stupid to pay for something, and just do anything, and eventually lose the ability to use it... To some extent. I'm about to buy my S2 liscence, and I can't wait. And if there are some immature peeps, just change server or something. And S2 most often will host better, more experienced drivers, that I would imagine got wiser and more respectful.
ive been playing for quite a while now with an s2 license, when i do go into a server people usually dont talk to me any more. i cant seem to get a response half the time.I often switch to demo servers now and again

First of all thanks for your reactions. Some people claimed that they have never had this kind of problems, got me thinking something. Actually I've been thinking about this since I released the wreckers in S2. Where are those good drivers?

I remember the very first time I unlocked my S2. There were like, I don't know, over 400 servers. I was like "Oh wow so many options" but I was so wrong. Later days I released that nearly 300 of 400 are always empty! So I setup my server filter and the thing I saw was the awful truth! Without empty and pravite servers there are just 30-40 servers which I haven't seen a clean race at none of them. I guess the LFS world is like the real world, people only care about themselves and don't know there are the parts which make the main part. Don't know they are making it bad.

I really like this game. It's a better joy than many other sims IMO. I just wish it was like they told us..
Ive found the difference between demo and s2 to be - You may get rammed from behind at t1 or any other corner, but at least the person will have braked (apart form a couple) they may be new and not got used to track or car or what ever but 99.9% of time you get an apology.
Its not perfect on S2 as people are still people and people get over excited etc.
I know if i hit anyone and it was my fault i always hit "sorry" and if it takes me out of races cause ive damaged suspension or something then i will apologise more, eg "sorry i locked wheels under braking and ran wide" or something.
But saying all this it seems when i joined up to S2 at the start of this year there were only a few "hi i just got s2" comments and now there seems to be alot more. Just a guess cause i dont figures but maybe just alot of people have recently bought S2 and so theres lots of newbies around. Maybe it will settle down.
Really best thing to do it go on team servers as teams want they server to be clean so will ban wrekers etc. Still doesnt assure clean races though.

I haven't had a bad race in a very very long time.
Neither have I Gunn, but it is very much dependant on which servers you frequent.
