If you just want the cash and experience, whats wrong with that?
Maybe you drafted someone?
Boost can be turned be set off, weak or strong for online. Check the room regulations, it's listed when you hover over the room in the list
Physics felt different to me online, harder, maybe because tyres are a lot colder starting off, or the extra weight of the fuel.
Anyway its seems soft racing tyres are far too grippy for anything under 450hp, but above that you can still lose it. I did using my NSX GT500 online yesterday at Fuji SuperGT race against a bunch of Japanese guys on the final turn
Nice race against those guys as always, they don't chit chat and trash talk
That can also be the skid force thingy. When you go to the lobby you need to turn off the skid force everytime to get the servers to show up that are not allowing it.
I haven't done any skid force enabled online races yet so I don't know if the skid force thing is forced to be on or do you need to turn it off if you go to a server which allows it.
There is also some "boost" that the host can turn on in the menus. I think it makes the slower cars faster. A rubber band effect in a way.
There are also features like tire wear and fuel consumption that can be turned on online which can also make a car go faster or slower.
A couple of online race videos against Japanese guys.
I like racing em, despite the slight lag, I always have good races against these guys.
I hate using Racing Softs, but everyone seems to use em online
RX-7 FD at Suzuka
Using a RX-7 FD I built for the recent seasonal event. Nice battle with the Evo 4.
Limits for the race were 1000kg minimum weight and 485hp.
Car felt a bit understeery, need to retune the suspension. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x55_uzVKd84
SuperGT race at Fuji - Stealth NSX GT500
Beaten to third at the line. I got shunted off the track at the start, I didn't see the guy there on my left, I should have looked, but I didn't have anywhere else to go.
Didn't realise I had my wipers on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSfURgejQgg
Imho, gt5 is very easy to drive. Stuff like load transfer or nuances of oversteer/understeer on corner entry and keeping the momentum through a turn are all things that are really easy in gt5. Also some cars are totally missing all nuances and corner entries are 110% understeer. Braking is odd too. It's either something wrong with the tires or just the way the brakes are done in gt5.
At times it can feel realistic in the sense that it most of the time does the big things right that make cars over- or understeer. I'd say physics wise it is believable to the point where you can spin the car with wrong control inputs or use the real life driving techniques and expect similar result as in real life. But most of the time it either ignores the small things that would have bigger effect in real life or just lets you get away with things that would make the car react somehow. Kerbs are a good example. You can simply drive over them everyway possible and the car just swallows the kerb and keeps on going like nothing happened.
Imho it is not realistic in the way I'd call it a sim. Iracing is a sim for example. Driving the skippy one lap around vir gives me 100x the sensations than all of the cars I've yet driven in gt5 combined.
I don't think gt5 is a fail in anyway as far as physics go. I bought it with the mindset that it is primarily an arcade game. If it is a sim it is a car porn sim. I think gt5 is great stuff if you just want to pick a car and drive fast. For the most part a ruf yellowbird drives like one just like the enzo or the acr viper. I've driven the norschleife quite a few times in gt5. Even comparing that to the good mods in rfactor and driving the good cars around its nordy it is imho very clear that one is a sim and the other one really isn't.
Hyperactive - Turn off ABS and then tell me the car understeers on corner entry.
Having ABS on 1 or greater removes the weight transfer effect. Not sure why they did this, as Active Stability Management is already a separate aid. With ABS off, if you don't brake in a straight line the car will rotate
Also all cars have a default suspension setup that tunes in understeer. A +0.20 rear toe, zero camber, and stiffer front end would do that.
As noted before, offline play doesn't account for the fuel weight. Which why I suspect online feels so different.
Somebody did a test with the 2CV, and the acceleration for online free run was 4 secs slower than in offline practise mode.
So it's carrying extra weight, fuel weight most probably.
But having fuel won't make you have less traction and get sudden snap oversteer when you hook a wheel in the carosusel, I really think there's more that.
Sudden snap of oversteer isn't exactly making the cars not understeer.
Most of the time I am actually driving with abs set to 0. I really like how you can trail brake into a corner with the car sliding just a bit. On tsukuba in first turn it is really nice in the miatas. But the way it randomly just snaps sideways spoils all the fun of it. And putting abs to 1 doesn't even make the snap oversteer to go away.
My money is on the force combining if it is a simple problem. Although in that case it should happen on corner exits too...
Guys do me a little favour and go to time trial on arcade mode in the Lancia Delta on racing softs at suzuka east and see what times you can do. Theres a time trial on a forum i go on and one of the guys times is 55.5 and best i can do is mid 56's another second off my time just seems crazy.
This is my point, its appears that the tyre model is quite simplistic, in the right combinations, its quite good, but it should be "good" across the board, the fact that certain cars and certain tyres scream "arcade" ,means, to me, that all is not as it should be, also the single seater physics are terrible in comparison to iR or even LFS.
Comfort tyres are alot of fun, and challenging too, but, and I've driven IRL on some terrible tyres, they have far less grip than they should.
The suspension model seems to give some cars issues with oversteer to, although understeer is quite well done across the board.
Don't take umbridge with the comments, like I said, its a very fun, and challenging piece of software, in the right circumstances, but there are much more realistic and complex tyre and suspension models around (the lack of tyre pressure is almost unforgivable IMO)
56,8 after couple of laps. But the car understeer so horribly that it is comical. I also tried with skid force and noticed that the more steering the more smoke from front tires. And apparently the smoke makes the car to turn better. Oh, and you can traction roll the car with skid force
I don't have an enzo i've got a 458, murci sv, vette, tuned evo x that did 6:50 round the ring with 500bhp, evora, fully tuned fireblade 7, RM'd S1 elise and S2, rm'd camaro, 22b, nomad diablo, fgt, calsonic gtr r32, 99 subaru rally car, subaru sti (new), nsx-r (awesome car) thats all i can think of right now.
I won't be able to send it till this time tommorrow, the Toyota 7.
Do you want your Subie back, or are you duping it with the save backup, send, restore trick?
