heres the prob. i go to life4pixel.om get a skin and put in my my data/skins folder. go in game no skin. do i need to maybe put it in my data/skins_x or skins_y folder? is that the problem
Hi, as for the skins issue - you need to click on "New colours" on the pit-screen and then choose the skin (after saving the skin in the /lfs/skins folder as a .jpg file).

You just need to select it once, there after it'll show up in the list on the left.

More info can be found in the LFS Manual (including how to make skins): http://en.lfsmanual.net/wiki/Skin_Tutorial

As for mods, these can be found in the following sections. They are kinda varied, but you'll be surprised with all the stuff that's been developed.

Unofficial Addons
Miscellaneous Addons

There are a lot of stuff so happy searching!

PS: Make sure you have a look in these threads (thanks Bob Smith!)

Edit:

Quote from JUICEMAN53 :do i need to maybe put it in my data/skins_x or skins_y folder? is that the problem

No, skins_x and skins_y are the folders where LFS seems to convert and save the .jpg files we place on the "skins" folder; so don't worry about that.
thanks bob, but when i am in game i dont see a "new color" button i onlyu see a colours. do i have to be like on a track in the pit garage to see the new color button?
Its in the pit garage, underneath the list of default skins. Button is called "New colours", right above the Delete and Rename buttons.

Edit: Added a screenie.
PS: I'm not Bob

is the skin in the correct folder?
As Dadge asked, is the skin in the correct folder? I should be saved in the "skins" folder - found as lfs/data/skins.

Make sure you save the skin as it is (or check if it confines to a name that LFS recognizes). i.e. something like "XFG_JUICEMAN53.jpg". The "XFG_" part is important, thats how LFS assigned the image to the specific car (the XFG - XF GTi in this case). The ".jpg" in the end is also important as LFS (seems to) only recognize ".jpg" files as the skins.

So saving the file in your skins folder as "XFG_JUICEMAN53.jpeg" won't work. Nor would "lsdfgjsdljf.jpg"

Just small step by step tutorial (since I have time to kill...)

Go to the Finish Skins sub forum and find the skins for XR cars (found here: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=5643). In the second post in that thread you'll find a car skin.

http://www.lfsforum.net/attach ... entid=59&d=1123764655 <-- This is the car skin that you need to save in your "skins" folder.

Right click on the image and select "save image as" (or something that sounds similar).

Now browse through you folders and find your "skins" folder (as I said you can find it in LFS --> Data --> Skins. Save the skin file (without changing its name as its already given) "XRR_DRFTFLKN.jpg" in the skins folder.

Now start up LFS. Go to the pits screen and select the XRR (XR GTR). Click on the "New colours" button as I've pointed out in an earlier post. You'll get a list of all the skins that are available for the XRR. Select the files that says DRFTFLKN.

You should be able to see the saved skin in-game.

I've typed all that from memory; I might have mistaken few steps/words; please don't sue me IF that worked, but still it won't for the skins from the site you mentioned, maybe you can provide a link to the skin in question so we can have a look at what might have gone wrong. Hope this helped...
