sounds like some kind of paradise...
But i don't want to be in the vicinity of an american (unexperinced) driver on 2 wheels when it's coming to hairy situations...
I was told by my instructor that the process of legal-driving a car in the states is very simple...
I wonder why this is...
It's not like that so much now. There is the graduated license and it takes much longer to get a license. Motorcycles are a different story though... Head to the DMV office, pick up your temps, the next day come in for your license, if you pass the written and practicle exam off you go riding with your license. They recommend people taking riding courses at the local college but some people don't listen.
I have a Yamaha seca2 600 and the parts are in the mail to get it running agian after 4 years of being stationed in the UK and being able to ride it.
thats why i will never ride in the states, cause any moron(no offence mr rodgers etc) can pretty much just jump straight onto a bike. at least here, you have to be trained and thought suitable for it, then the morons just buy the latest litre bikes and shove it into a hedge or the back of a lorry.
At least they're given a choice to exploit their own stupidity. If someone wants to jump on the latest liter bike, skilled or not, far be it from me to stop them. It's their choice.
Really well, had an absoloute blast on the 500's today, was grinning from ear to ear hacking down the back roads, plus they are 100 times easier to ride than the 125's.
I am pretty much there now, instructor says I he would be very suprised if I didnt pass tomorrow, everything is there, my riding as way past test standard, I can u-turn in the road well enough, 5 out of 6 on a few occasions today, emergency stop is fine, just need to string it together tomorrow at 3:27pm for 40 mins and I will be home free!! .
check out www.eabikers.co.uk dan, its something like that anyway, try variations. but its a website for east anglian bikers, which is still very new, but growing everyday.
Thanks guys, still can't believe I did it, had a nice ride last night, its a real blast, am being very carefull ATM, its a VERY different bike from the CB500 I passed on, I intent to keep on learning as I ride.
@ Tristan, drop me a PM, let me know what time, and where you are going from, I wouldnt mind following you up if possible, assuming I can go.
Well done dude. I've got my self booked in for my DAS on the 29th and 30th of August. I have already got my bike stored away in the garage, a 1998 Triumph Trident 750. It may be a 750, but it's a naked bike, rather than a fast bike. It's more bark than bite if you know what i mean.
Just letting you all know that i have now passed!!!! Also with 5 minors. It wasn't as hard as i thought. Almost failed on the U turn in the road, almost put my foot down, but managed to rev it a bit harder and pull out of it!!!
Thought I'd necro post this rather then just make a new thread. In regards to direct access, saying over 21, I take it that means 22+ for DA?
If so that sucks as the bike I'm eye balling is a CB500 which means I wouldn't be able to ride it (if I buy it) for a year :/
