The online racing simulator
Quote from Scawen :And the batch / script / command file system could be a powerful tool for many other things in the future as well, not just changing your LFS setup for each car.

Any plans to have variables & control structures? C-like syntax?
the thought has crossed my mind
TEST Patch U10
OK here's U10 for testing.

WARNING : your controls will not be correctly assigned due to the new way the controls are stored in a special file in the data\misc folder. There is a default file included for the Red Momo and the Microsoft FF Wheel so they should be reasonably set up if you have one of those. Maybe the DFP will have a reasonable setup as well as the default axes are basically Logitech style. Let me know.

NOTE 1 : The Views system is not finished. I plan to implement multiple views as requested.

NOTE 2 : The /run command (batch / script / command file whatever you call it) has not been done yet. That is planned for U11. But there are so many changes in U10 that it should be tested now, giving me a couple more days for the missing features (NOTE 1 and NOTE 2).

NOTE 3 : You cannot use a shifter on a single seater car. If you have a shifter, LFS automatically sets to sequential when you select a single seater. There are two separate versions of these three settings (one for sequential and one for shifter) : AutoClutch, GCCut, GCBlip. That's because a lot of people may wish to use auto clutch with their paddle shift and manual clutch with their shifter.

Changes in TEST PATCH U10 :

SHIFT+S when spectating now goes to garage
Single seater car shadows now visible in custom views
Clicking join with no car selected goes to select car screen
Garage when not in race now shows spectate and join buttons
Start new game with no track selected goes to select track
Game setup screen : ENTER key - joins race / sets ready
Separate shift help settings for sequential and shifter
Sequential shift automatically used for single seaters
Axis, button and key assignments stored in .con files
Maximum value reached marker added to virtual pedals
Cleaner replay start - avoiding flashing entry screen
Separate mirror offset for custom and internal views
Internal mirror offset limit increased to 400 mm
Realistic speedometer based on drive shaft speed
Added layout files (LYT) to file associations
Added rename function for setups

FIX : Changes were lost when selecting in car / custom views
FIX : Clutch pedal was not shown in controls setup screen

It always the little things that make a game and I'm glad when you click join race without a car it goes to the select car screen.
Lots of small changes which make me smile. Thank you

Could be possible to have an option to order the list of online servers by clicking on number of players, or server name, or whatever you want instead of like now ordered by ping?
Amazing stuff Scawen , even though we drive you nuts with requests and the like its such a fantastic thing to be able to communicate with the guys making the game.

Thanks again for your time and i must say infinite patience.

ps: any chance you could talk to EA/Dice about how to release patches and communicating with your customers

Does anyone know if U10 has any adverse effects on pads?

Amazing stuff Scawen. Now, let me dig out the form from under this pile of paper for the public nominations for the New Year's Honours list....
Good work Scawen!

Gotta love developers that actually listens to the community (unlike DICE/EA with BF2). I think they can learn something from you, create small updates containing minor (vital) updates instead of creating few big ones.

My guess is it will be fine but you will need to reassign your buttons. Please do tell me how it goes (are the axes automatically assigned correctly). If you are concerned, then make a backup of your U9 cfg.txt and U9 exe before you install and run U10.

Thanks :-) I'll tell you what happens
so now that u10 is out its time for further requests i guess

first of all lets refresh my request on changing g force settings via batches

and to take that batch file idea even further ... it would be amazing if you could make all settings lfs offers controllable via batch files
this would enable you to change the batches and the cfg.txt to a unified syntax
A request from me...

Would it be possible to remove _all_ HUD from replays in SP/Hotlap? Planing of doing some movies and some of the extra stuff is in the way.

On a movie creating related note: Is it possible to create a lap-timer in Adobe Premiere? Want to and some custom tv overlay for the movies. And this creates another question for Scawen:

Is it possible to grab all data from memory to create some sort of TV-overlay ingame? Would be cool if you could have your own overlay. Like the F1 stuff.
Tested it a bit...

Speedo is lovely.
My controls were slightly buggered up but only took a few presses to fix them. Will it now save a file based on my wheel 'name'?
Car shadows working in SS custom views
ENTER key bit is much appreciated
Max pedal thingy is great too - now we know if our pedals are breaking
Loving the setup renamer too.

In short, it does what it says on the tin, and it says some great things on the tin... *hugs Scawen*

Press Shift-F to remove most of it.

Then edit cfg.txt and find MPR Messages, and set it to 2 for no messages and 1 for only system messages (joined, pitted etc).
I have "black screen" when returning from servers list (in window mode) to main menu (back to full screen).

Tested, I needed to reassign all of the controls, but it works No axes problems at all.
I'm getting the shift-f4-stuck-in-black-window thing with U10.
One bug: reverse is always showing 0km/h
Nice, like what I am seeing. If there is one thing that irritates me in LFS is when there are cars on the start grid that are not maned. Any chance we can get LFS changed to remove these cars from the grid before the lights go green when no input is detected from those drivers?
thank you Scavier for working so hard to make such a great game even better
