The online racing simulator
Nardo Highspeed Test Facility
what about another area like this one:

Wikepedia: Nardo Ring, is located in Nardo, Italy. It is used for auto racing. It is used as a test track for high speeds. At just under 7.8 miles and perfectly round, it is banked at such a degree that a driver need not turn the wheel while driving. In essence, the driver is basically driving in a straight line.

Drafting should be funny there and the rest of the area looks pretty interesting to

Its pretty simular somehow to the test-track in GT4.

"Ok, this car tops out 321,4 km/h, how cool." And then you leave the track and never use it again. Would be the most useless thing ever made. 8 miles of oval where you dont even have to steer what's the point racing in there, even more dull than normal ovals.

Hehehe, just noticed you are a 0valJunK1e..that explains I think.

Millbrook might be better because being shorter it wouldn't be flat out all the way.

I don't see the point of a track like that. It's boring and requires zero skill. Just to see where a car tops out isn't enough reason to have it, maybe the devs wil make a longer dragstrip in the future. Will do the same thing.
imagine a field of 23 drivers (or more in future) are drafting around that track....drivers team up, creating trains and catching each other and so on. Thats just another kind of racing style and imho it could/should be part of LFS one day. And if you dont like it, dont play it. And you have to steer when there are at least 1 or more cars around you in order to catch/give draft.

And about that power out thing: maybe you can reach the limit of your setup but not of the car when youre alone on that track.
We already have one oval in LFS...why have another? Driving round an oval all day gets incredibly boring, there is no real skill involved in it at all, you just fond a slipstream and abuse it. Nothing else about it. Instead of this 8 mile long oval we should have a le mans style 8 mile long race track, would be much more exciting.
JohnUK89:

Why another oval?

We want to do events on different ovals, like Talladega, Daytona, Texas, Indi and so on. This Track as the name says is a Highspeed Test Facility which means theres not only a oval but some other areas to test tires, bumpers and so on. Just to have something different to the Autocross area.

And seeing your age, your laps and pb on Kyoto ring tells my your not the specialist so you cant judge on a thing you dont even have a clue at all.

With 2 cars drafting seams to be easy but then manage to get below 31 with more then 2 cars. Thats where skill is needed and keeping this up to more then 1-2 laps needs even more skill then you can imagine.
I'd much rather the devs spent their time on tracks which could attract a wider interest and some more 'mainstream' racing skills.
at least its just a suggestion and important is for me that the devs may see it and keep it in their mind and maybe its a option once the game is allmost finish or whatever. And why not extend the mainstream.

That just simply doesn't fit. All that John's statistics tell you is the same as HE is telling you.. the oval is for junkies, and he isn't one. It's an odd pastime, running off to LFSWorld to "weigh up" someone conversing on the forum, and then to make protracted assertions based on what you find.

You know, if you're going to post an improvement suggestion you're going to have to able to accept other people not agreeing with you. Instead you make comments about someone's age and PB, things that are not relevant at all imo. People have their opinions on oval racing. Saying that their opinion is invalid just because they don't race there often or because of their PB is ridiculous.

While that is true, it's not the point for not supporting the idea (well, speaking for myself anyway). I would rather see the time and effort needed to create a track like that spent on another track which requires more skill and provides LFS something different we don't already have.
well i do accept others opinion but you know its just a suggestion not even a real oval and look how quick the oval haters spread out and kick this thread into another poor oval / road track disscussion.

I could have been gone more into detail but i thought its not worth the work but to keep it short i saw his laptime and its slow so he didnt even start racing there, lap counter underlines that, which is ok for me. But then go into a conversation and talking about something he never did or dont like is senseless/ridiculous. So its not my goal to "weigh up" or simular ok and if it sounds like that JohnUK89 i am sorry.

Edit: but to be honest, what John said in other words is that i dont have any skills or dont need any skills and that says i had never any fun there and wasted my time, which is not true.

Ditto. Even if we were to have a new oval, a perfect circle like this would be, in my humble opinion, mind-numbingly boring.

I'd like to see an 8-mile long track for Le Mans style racing, but I'm not desperate to see it before we have time-of-day, lights and weather implemented (if the rumours that they'll come one day are even true). But that day, I'll weep for joy.

Nordschleife (The Mother) i love it for GTL and i would go crazy if this track is once part of LFS.

I'll just go into a little detail, since I know John rather well. John races 95% of his time offline because of his location and the fact that even his 56K modem performs like a 14400 modem. I know this because I've calculated that John's audio delay on Teamspeak is on average around the 7 second mark. John's online statistics don't show John's experience on LFS at all.

John races for CTR, which is my team (SSR)'s nemesis, and John is a pleasure to be around on the track. He's a fast racer, and spatially extremely aware of other drivers. He isn't a hot-lapper, but he is a VERY competitive driver in a race.

None of this comes across on LFSWorld. Lap times are not everything. Statistics prove nothing.

I'm not having a go at you, please don't misunderstand. I'm having a go at the idea that we are what LFSWorld says we are. We're all guilty of drawing conclusions based on LFSWorld figures.. but there's so much more to us all than those numbers.

OMG yeah! That would rule!

SOME day!!

Well ok i know where youre comming from and i have to agree that LFSworld and the statistic system is nothing to build up which i never tried. It can be a good tool to get a idea of a certain racer but nothing more. Im really sorry for John and his connection because i started with a 14400 myself once. So i just tried to get a picture of him and his opinion and its getting more detailed now Everybody should have fun but even if i dont like something im not about to try to convince anybody that the things i like needs more skill, experience or offers more/less fun or whatever.

There is more than one type of oval, ignoring the monstrocity suggested here i'm all for having 3 ovals. The Kyoto we have, a 2 corner oval and a 4 corner Indi style oval. I'm personally not an oval racer (other than the odd go for a giggle), but I understand what this would do for people who love oval racing - and it is racing, it just isnt the racing we are more accustomed too. Horse racing is racing, it just doesnt have enough horsepower for my taste .

This oval, 14 miles or whatever it is of nothing would be as dull as the far too frequently requested Nordschliffe - why oh why would anyone want to race there in a sim? 14 miles of not seeing another car!?

LFS has a collection of fantasy tracks with lots of interesting corner combo's and some excellent circuit design. So we all pile online to play together and race other cars and what do we do? We run the longest circuits we can find and drive around on our own!

We're incredibly stupid. The lot of us.

The track Nordschleife is available as a Users Addon Track for GT-Legends and the fun there is to go around this track with some mates in a training session, hotlap or do some quick races. Yes Quick races even with cars from the 60´s and 70´s its possible to go around there in around 8 minutes which is not that much. 2-3 Laps is standard at most servers running this track and there are allways people playing it esp. on weekend there are lots of aliens and i had so many great races there. Just another kind of racing...extended to the normal Road Tracks somehow

+1

I would like to see two more ovals (like Becky) but instead of the indy clone, I would like to see something like Daytona or Talladega.

And also the nardo rip off. Nardo is built for top speed tests, NOT racing. Or a longer (4km) drag strip/ straight piece of tarmac. Also, Nardo has all sorts of other test tracks of different sorts that would be so useful in setup making. But like millbrook, not nardo.

Sure its build up for top speed test but why only use it this way?

I loved New Hampshire for Nascar and the conversion for GPL, flawed though it was in that the gpl physics was not designed for banking and its related g-forces. I'd like to see a short oval for LFS, one where you can't keep your foot down all the time, and you would have to cope with backmarkers and lapping within the space of a normal race. I don't want a huge flat out oval of 14km, it would be immensely dull.
Quote : I would like to see something like Daytona

I considered Kyoto to be Daytona like, two corners and a kink, that's right isn't it? It's never going to be a replica because of the fantasy track issue - but it matches the config surely?

Not at all, as far as i can remember from Nascar Racing (Papyrus/Sierra) Kyoto is more like Texas and Daytona is longer and the track itself is not that wide.

Well both are SuperSpeedways but the Number of Lanes is important.

He tried to do that to me in an earlier thread. I suppose it's some sort of dick measuring contest?

Who cares whether you are fast or slow, everyone has the right to an opinion. I know incredibly knowledgeable people who aren't the quickest drivers in the world. That doesn't make the either unqualified or unable to pass judgment.

Sometimes I wish people would think before they act or in this case, posting pure crap!
