In the wake of the Nov. 6 election, petitions seeking to secede from the union have been filed on behalf of 23 states on the White House website, https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petitions. Most of the petitions contain the same wording and ask to withdraw “peacefully” from the United States in order to form independent governments. As of Monday, the Texas petition had already exceeded the 25,000-signature threshold, and the Louisiana petition was fast approaching the cutoff with more than 18,000 signatures. Most of the petitions were posted online Nov. 10, which means they have until Dec. 10 to qualify for a response.

I'm a conservative, but I believe we actually need way more abortions, not less. 72% of black children in the US and 41% of hispanic children are born to unwed mothers, both statistics up from less than 20% in 1980 and compared to 24% for white women today. The family unit has failed miserably in progressive welfare nations including this one. There is no more negative stigma associated with unwed mothers, so our non-judgmental society is causing generations of women and their children to be doomed to a life of poverty and government dependence. People who choose out of ignorance to be a burden on society; able bodied able minded people who choose not to work should be denied access to my tax contribution.

In Wisconsin, 79% of black children are born to unmarried women. But to make any judgment of this trend is racist. That's why that number will only go up, because no one will say it's WRONG to throw away generations worth of opportunity and billions of dollars in welfare because people aren't using CONDOMS in fkng 2012. Whats racist and sexist is not breaking these trends and keeping minorities dependent on welfare to support their fatherless children. Which political party in the US is really keeping women barefoot and pregnant?

Still not seeing your point of separating white, black and Hispanic numbers, the issue is about welfare in US as a whole, unless we are dealing with race specific measures or priority treatment for particular races...you just need one number, no. of children born to unwed mothers in US period, instead of taking stabs at minority groups.

This story is a perfect distillation of what's wrong with allowing religion to dictate terms of society. Sadly this isn't the only tragic story left in the wake of religious 'leadership' and it won't be the last. The only hope is that it can cause enough outrage in communities to abolish these types of institutional stupidity and bigotry.

0.5% abortions are given for medical reasons. Im sure some system could be made where medical conditions are excused. But theres no excuse because you dont feel like raising a child, which is the majoritynof abortions (most of whom whove already had another child)

I think not having the financial, mental and time capacity is a fully legitimate reason, raising the child cost as much as buying a Ferrari Enzo over here.

Abortion takes a physical toll on the mother already, and you can only do it once or twice before you lose the ability to carry again. So it isn't like abortion is a mindless free pass.

But that actually happens, neither condom or pills are 100% safe. At least one coupe among my friends carried a child even with condom used.
