Check your motherboards compatibility list, phenom II 965/970 should fit into a board which can handle a 925 in 95% of cases. But is the money worth the extra performance? If you are lucky performance increases with 20%.

Pentium g860 plus hd7770 here and framerate only slightly dipping under 100 at large grid race starts. Everything turned up.
One weird thing I noticed was that capping the framerate would lead to lower framerates much more often, so I turned that off and replaced the fps with the clock. Any reason for that? It seemed to be random game starts would drop the framerate, even hot lapping at feclub which is million fps with no cap, and 75 with the cap? Then exit and start again and it's locked at 100.
