The online racing simulator
I can't seem to get my server working.
Hello,

I have a big problem with setting up my server, I have never done it.

I tried both in-game server and a dedi server with the program, here's my config:

// host name
/host=LFS Touge Heroes

// optional: password
//pass=123

// optional: admin password
//admin=1223

// optional: InSim port
//insim=29999

// optional: local specified ip address
//ip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

// a high number below 65536
/port=63390

// demo/s1/s2
/mode=s2

// no/yes/hidden
/usemaster=yes

// BL1/BL1R/BL2, SO1/SO1R/SO2, etc
/track=BL1

// weather
/weather=1

// cars allowed - see README.txt
/cars=XRT+RB4+FXO+XRG+XFG+RAC+LX4+LX6+UF1

// max guests that can join host
/maxguests=12

// slots reserved for admins (0 to 8)
/adminslots=3

// max cars in a race
/carsmax=12

// max cars (real+ai) per guest pc
/carsguest=1

// smoothness (3-6) number of car updates per second
/pps=4

// qualifying minutes, 0 for no qualifying
/qual=0

// number of laps, 0 for practice
/laps=0

// if laps not specified: hours

// no/yes: can guests vote to kick or ban

And it keeps telling me: TCP Socket: Bind failed, no matter what.

Any help?
This makes me want to quit LFS, I have been messing around with this crap for 7 hours. Why in the actual hell is it so hard to make a damn server?!?!?
7 hours?

It means it cannot create port 63390. Probably your firewall, some random anti virus shizzle or other over-protectional crap interferes with it.

Because you are not very informative about what you are actually doing (what OS, what programs, what you've done the last 7 hours) it's very difficult to give good hints. Simply saying 'HEY IT WONT WORK' doesnt get you far in most cases. Like now.

This has not much to do with LFS btw, every game which you try to host would give similar problems.
LFS has so complicated systems.

Windows 7,

Tried all of my IPs, tried searching for solutions, tried everything, still. I'm running with firewall ON and anti virus, I'll remove them both and re-try.
Good.. There is progress

So you are capable of running a LFS host on your computer now. The only problem left is your router.

You need to login to your router, find the port forwarding table and redirect port 63390 TCP and UDP traffic to your internal IP address.

What is your internal IP address? You can find that by using Windows 7 Start button=>Search box at bottom=>type cmd [enter].. you get a black DOS box. Type ipconfig ... Somewhere it mentions a 192.168.x or 10.0.x address.

Thats your internal address which you need to fill out in your router port forwarding screen.

When you save that, it should be possible to connect to your server and stay on it.
Two things,

First of all, I don't even know my routers name and password :o I tried loads of stuff that is usually the name and password for people as default.

Second, I'm afraid I'll screw something up and break something, lmao.
What is the name/type of the router?

Being adventurous always gives risks but adding some port forwarding details to a table is quite harmless
It's a Thomson TG784
holy crap im inside my router now. What do i do?
Reading through that my pupils turned about 74% smaller and my brain's color turned blue.

I didn't get an actual crap what ports where who when why what who with wat.

What ports do I need to place there? I understand now where the port thing is.
just 63390. (the number configured @lfs config file, here; /port=63390)

But you need to give in a start and a stop, so 63390 - 63390 will do.

It's actually not very complicated

Your setting up a road sign basically. So the router knows to which computer to redirect 63390 traffic to.. It has no clue now.
Uh, on the last picture at the guide you gave me, there are two larger boxes, and in the middle the ''ANY'', what do I put there? I got the ports written.
Confusing and overly complicated config screen but I think it has to look like this;

(But then 63390 of course)

After that you still need to forward it to your PC

Port forward didn't seem to change anything -OR- I just suck like crap at this stuff.
Yup, final conclusion
Did my port forwarding seem done right?
Anyone?
Sorry for posting in estonian but it easier to explain it as my englis is bad.

Kui sul digitv on siis mine teleka kaudu ja otsi sealt üles ava pordid. Telli see (see on tasuta). Siis mine portforwarding vms leheküljele ja otsi sealt enda ruuter üles ja tee selle järgi. Kui selelga hakkama ei saa võin ise ka seletada sulle.
Sittagi aru ei saa. Mul ei ole digitv kah
I FINALLY GOT IT WORKING!

Thank you so much everyone!
I knew you could do it
