Quote from dawesdust_12 :Yeah, I'm so miserable. You're the one here that posts with such optimism, that it's like LFS killed your children, raped your wife and made you watch.

This behaviour seems way too familiar... but in a different thread... by you...
Quote from Eclipsed :Just because that you and your arrogant friends have quit LFS for some money wastment software,it doesn't mean that NOBODY drives leagues. But then again - seeing your attitude, people like me and others who are still racing, are nobodies in eyes of your highness anyway...
Why don't you just delete your unused account and leave this forum or is your life so miserable that you really need to take a rage dump somewhere in virtual world?

Are you on crack or just dumb? How is me saying that 7 drivers in a NDR (a top LFS league organizer) league is arrogant and you calling my friends arrogant is not? Way to contradict yourself, have a cookie.
It's not about what you said,it's about your all attitude - everyone just comes and says that everything is dead, but does anyone of them try to participate anything? No,as it just "the same 8 years old car on the same 8 years old track",everyone is too good for that. If someone dares to think to take part in an event, they look at confirmations - oh no,there is no full grid,I'm too good to race with just 10 others (funny if 20 people think the same),so they're just walking by. That's the arrogance I'm talking - LFS is not good enough for most top drivers,so they're leaving. And with them also are leaving many more - if the cool guys are leaving,it's cool to leave, everyone wants to be cool, right?
And seeing interest dropping in LFS in general,I suspect devs also losing motivation - why bother just for some 100 fanatics?

Honestly can you blame them? People stop because of one of the human instincts - boredom. You most likely played super mario or super mario 64, so why aren't you still playing that, it's only "same game for 17 years".

It does suck for the people who races LFS and I feel for those, but there is no other then the devs to put to blame on here, not the drivers who doesn't want to join a 10 car grid for a endurance race.

Quote from Eclipsed :And seeing interest dropping in LFS in general,I suspect devs also losing motivation - why bother just for some 100 fanatics?

Money should be a motivation enough for them. Turn it around and think like this - the devs should be thinking: "Shit, only 100 fanatics left, we need to do something".
Quote from Eclipsed :Well,it seems like you're an expert in this, then tell us,what Kingsburys are doing better than Deko/NDR?
And I'm also interested, what I have done so wrong with GTAS?

well, since it is not a big league like GTWS, they did good by having fixed setups (with minor changes you can make tough). Also they had 5 rounds (unlike the 9 by lfscart).

Deko/NDR does good with the GTWS, but not the open wheelers. Maybe a couple of years ago they could do it like this, but not nowdays, when there is less attendance.

I think that the problem with your league was:
-it was organised one single thread, unlike ndr/RR and such.
-it used the overused GTR cars.
-there wasn't anything unique about it

I'm seriously not trying to be an **** here, but this is what I think. And of course it isn't all your fault. the limited content of lfs makes it hard to make things unique and such.

The junior fox had its uniqueness with its fixed sets and easy to drive sets. everyone could concentrate on driving fast and not making a fast setup, but still personalize their sets to their likings(understeer/oversteer). Even tough they could still do things better, it's a very good approach for a sim like lfs.

Yes,I played Super Mario in childhood, but I don't play it anymore because it is the SAME game all the time it's started. But - LFS is not the same (even the content is),as no 2 races are the same! There are always new challenges, new situations,as there are different people in races (not same turtles like in your Super Mario).
Quote :It does suck for the people who races LFS and I feel for those, but there is no other then the devs to put to blame on here, not the drivers who doesn't want to join a 10 car grid for a endurance race.

There are much more events then just endurance, there have been many other tries to create something different with new challenges for skills, but it's no good for most,as they just see the same car and same track name.
Quote :Money should be a motivation enough for them. Turn it around and think like this - the devs should be thinking: "Shit, only 100 fanatics left, we need to do something".

It's good known, that money has never been the motivation for devs, otherwise we would have now S7 with 50 half finished cars (with lower res textures then the famous RB4),20 other buggy tracks and a rallypack with 4 3km rally stages...
I have never said that devs are doing everything right, but if people get bored so easily, they will demand more just a year after the release of S3 with 3 new tracks and 8 new cars. And then start to moan about stuff like old grafics which are not enough stressing their GTX500000 super GPU.
If you come just to play a game, you'll never be happy for long time anyway.

To sum up shortly - devs could do more and even earn more with that, but most people will never be pleased anyway if they come just to play around with some new stuff.
Quote from CodeLyoko1 :I think that the problem with your league was:

Yea,since I could not be bothered to create some cheap website,I never had chance to get own forum section,as the website is a requirement to have one (which is unlogical requirement - if I had a website,I wouldn't need the section anymore and why they want to keep users away from this forum with requirement for website?),so from this point I'm screwed from the very start.
Quote :-it used the overused GTR cars.

Right, the need to drive all 3 GTR cars in same day with need to think out strategy for car use and the sprint distance is totally overused feature. Have even read, that GTR sprint racing is missing as there practically is just GTR endurance. Also the tracks were picked to be different then anywhere else used.

Someone saying LFS is dead isn't arrogance, it's an opinion - because it's dead to them. If you still enjoy racing, then it's not dead to you and that's fine. You say it's arrogance because the top drivers are leaving, because it's not good enough for them? You said not every race is the same - and you're right, but the practicing is still the same routine and on combo's we have driven before. The people who are still enjoying LFS are as a general rule the people who don't practice regularly and a lot, or people who are quite new so still find it exciting and interesting. Obviously there are some exceptions like always. It's not arrogant. Hopefully you can see it better now. That's probably why LLM leagues are a bit more popular atm compared to NDR, because it's always had less experienced/less high level drivers driving. If you have to participate in LFS to say it's dead, does that mean I'm right if I say it is just because I drive races sometimes still? Wouldn't change your opinion still because you still enjoy it

If people arent enjoying LFS anymore, how does it make them arrogant to go and try something else and enjoy it more? I'm pretty sure the devs and moderators prefer that than the repeated threads asking where S3 is.
Ok,that's a fair point,Isaac! I understand if a combo feels dull if you have driven 500 laps before a 50 lap race. Especially if the combo has been in 5+ different leagues. But there are practically 1000 possible combos, add triple to that if you include open config tracks. Ok,I know, there are inappropriate combos (like MRT@AS4/WE1 etc) or similar tracks (like SO4/SO5 etc),but still - noone can have done them all. And there could be even found a new challenge - if you are so skilled, then come to race without huge practice, see how good you can do just with small warmup! Ok,for very competitive drivers this might not be an option (born to be first, second is just the first looser and other Senna-$#!t).
Anyway - why do these people (for who LFS is dead) have to come to forums and shout "LFS is dead!","nobody drives leagues" and are calling miserable those, who still do something? It is a huge anti-advertisement for new people. They come here, see some 6-10 year old account owners saying that it's not worth to bother with LFS and they leave. Basically there is very small new generation in these days.
You're right, that could never be an option for me atleast . Sure there are things that can still be fun, but theres things outside LFS too.

Can see your point about people being negative. It has to be said though that if people who don't enjoy LFS/play LFS anymore didn't post then this forum would be a lot worse place. It's always good to have a balance between both and then whoever asks the question can make the choice they want, there is no point to sell LFS as something it isn't right now. I don't think it really affects LFS that much, you just have to read through the trolling and see the funny side or just ignore it completely. If it gets out of hand then the mods/devs do something.
indeed, there are things around lfs as well, so why bother and keep posting on the lfsforum that lfs is dead...
Because IRL sucks ;P
OK .. I'm glad to read so much reaction.. This only means one thing ...
Your all still here because you more or less care about LFS.

What I don't like is the manner that you guys talk to each other. I still believe in having your own opinion !!!! So please let's have an adult conversation about this without blaming each other on how things to be done.

If some leagues only love GTR then that is there full right..

I can only say we've started a new season. 11th already !!!!.
We were with 14 racers last night..
It started bad as the first server ( liveforspeed.be1) crashed completely ...
So we've switched to our second server liveforspeed.be2.. I was wondering, with indeed only 14 racers, why the hell we needed 2 servers.. But on such situations you know why of course.

How do we try to attract as many racers as we can ??
SECURE clean racing as much as possible with just enough rules and fair play.
Using a safety car procedure where we bring back action and keep racers in the game..

But indeed 14 is not a lot but I must say most of them race with us for years now.. So I guess we're not doing a bad job..

And also for 14 racers it is a lot to invest in money and time as we do now have 2 full servers 24/7 online, pay for the website hosting and keep this all up to date, writing newsletters, review every race, write race reports, creating lot's of graphical designs..etc...
We also have a nice reward for the season winner. A special autograph from Toro Rosso and next year Redbull driver Daniel Ricciardo

But we do loving it !!! But this does not take away that we want to know if there is even a future for LFS development !!!!

So are there guys here that are in contact with the programmers ?? I there an event we can organize to sound an alarm bell to those guys ???

So please help each other instead of all those negative reactions..
So please ONLY react if you got some positive ideas.. And be quiet if you just want to lose some frustration !! It always easy to blame another, be above that and help us on good ideas !!! THANK YOU !!!
Quote from CrAZySkyPimp :It does suck for the people who races LFS and I feel for those, but there is no other then the devs to put to blame on here

that is like saying the engineers at Betamax were to blame for people choosing VHS because they failed to release Betamax 2.0 or something.

the other day in LFS i did a huge skid and after i could feel the flatspots on my tires. not only i could feel them but i could see their effect on the g-meter. i even have a replay of it.

people who willingly chose an inferior product are the only ones to blame for a superior product dying out from lack of popularity.
Quote from hanzime : And be quiet if you just want to lose some frustration !! It always easy to blame another, be above that and help us on good ideas !!! THANK YOU !!!

that's a good spirit everyone should have. i didn't read this plea before replying to teemu in the post above at least i took out my rant against iracing hehe.

isaac made a great point - lfs is more popular for people who don't practise as much. i practice very little in lfs so even after all these years i feel like i can improve at every combo.

hanzime, i want to do more league racing. i went to www.liveforspeed.be and looked around. i couldn't find the time zone for the races. really nice website and rules etc btw. i will register to the forum and see about the race on the 29th of this month.

for my ideas, i think you should go with the best combos. some are just more fun to drive, like xfg @ fe2r, lx4 @ so6, fxo @ aston cadet. going for weird combos doesn't help i think.

it is only my opinion but just because content is old doesn't change its worth. LFS is not a game. am i wrong there are no points, no story, just competition. most of the time you lose. it's extremely hard. i don't understand the idea that people wouldn't want to race because the track is x years old. it's like people saying "oh i don't want to race on the nordschleife anymore.. that track is too old. just the same corners again and again."

i had registered for absolute beginner's league and had disconnect problems. after years of racing online as long as i want bam, disconnect in the middle of a league race. maybe when the script kiddies will have their toys taken away things will be better.

We race on 20.30 CET you can see CET time on the front page.

Cya on track !!
Quote from Bose321 :When did they lie about the Scirocco? I believe they always said that they "hoped" to release it. They never said they "will" release it by a certain date. And again, the tire physics are more important right now.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Quote from lfs.net/?page=oldernews :We are pleased to announce that we plan to release the new VW Scirocco in Live for Speed during the week ending Friday 19th December.

They did announce a date on December 11th with a time frame of about a week then 4 days later on December 15th, they postponed it. They also mentioned in the same postponed thread a date of Early 2009.

Quote from lfs.net/?page=oldernews : Issue #1 = that there were problems on some graphics cards. (Should be fixed by now)

#2 = there were still outstanding issues that proved harder to fix than expected. This is on the mechanical side and the electronic side. (Mechanical doesn't sound like tyre physics to me)

We are confident that we can fix all the issues and make the car a really good one to drive in the near future, but as various things that need to be done will take an unknown amount of time, we had to make the decision to postpone the release until next year.

August 21, 2009
Quote :We are pleased to announce that a new tyre physics model is currently in the testing and refinement stage.

So it takes 5 years to test and refine? Maybe they should do an open beta to get more testing and feedback from others instead of being stubborn and wanting to do everything without external help.

Yes yes.. We all know by now that it's not really released hmm...

And everyone can be 'smart' about it but it gets a little bit idiotic now this situation, isn't it?
Quote from CodeLyoko1 :they PLANNED to release it. they didn't say it was GOING TO BE release

When you plan to do something, do you plan it with the intentions of not doing it? Kind of like saying, I have a 5 year plan, but I do not intend to stick with it.

When you make plans, you usually have every intention of keeping those plans until something makes you change them.

So yes they WERE GOING TO RELEASE IT but they were not satisfied with the finished product and CHANGED their mind about releasing it.

Quote :Definition of plan
noun \ˈplan\

: a set of actions that have been thought of as a way to do or achieve something

: something that a person intends to do

your only confirming what CodeLyoko1 said. Unless they stated that it will take for example 5 years to complete.

It is possible to plan something without actually stating it will ever be released. I know that it would be pointless but it would be due to something that was unknown at the start

you are missing the f'ing point. *point* they made an announcement with a release date. then gave another ballpark date in the postponed announcement. */point*
People make mistakes! Welcome to real world!
I keep hoping that this kind of behaviour will go away, it has been going on so long that it practically has its own post code now. If someone wants to knock LFS, let them, it is only hot air. LFS will continue to be developed but considering the developers have real lives and other things they have to do it is no wonder that there will be lulls in results code wise. When the tyre (note proper spelling) physics is right and not before, we will be informed and that will more likely than no lead to the scirocco and other changes. LFS is a fine piece of kit and the larger development teams will charge a whole heap more for fewer updates than we have seen here. If you come upon a troll in the forum there is a way to deal with them, IGNORE THEM. They will wither and die for lack of attention like any two year old tantrum. Have a nice day folks and relax.............

Still alive ??
