FO8 is a lot of fun to drive, I very much enjoy driving it. Tbh, I was kind of expecting this to happen when the BF1 was released. It'll either be the BF1 because its the fastest car in the game and its an F1 car, and then FOX because its easy to drive, so people can have close racing. The reason why the FO8 was so popular pre-BF1 was because it was the fastest car in the game at the time, so the same rule about being the fastest car which now applies to the BF1, is taken away from the FO8. Try seeing about the OWRL (Open Wheel Racing League). I believe they make leagues for all the single-seaters. I am considering joining it, but most probably go with the BF1, as its my fav car.

Well, apart from the oval it was hardly used before the BF1 arrived. It really wasn't popular pre-BF1 at all.
So nothing changed really. But the pre-patch FO8 had it's issues and because of that I didn't drive it often at that time either. Those issues were adressed, but unfortunately it's reputation was already set I guess.

I think it can serve a purpose. It's a car in which you can have great close racing like in the FOX. The FOX though is a very easy car to drive, so the FO8 can bring the good things of the FOX along with some more challenge.

Actually, I think that the FOX is now the dominant open wheeler.
Which is bad for me because the FOX is probs my least favorite car in the whole wide world (it feels like a slot car :really.

And I agree with the sentiment in this thread; the FO8 absolutely rocks now and needs to be on the servers more.

I don't believe the OWRL will be running the BF1. They have two divisions, one for the FOX and one for the FO8. They stated they couldn't find enough commited drivers to run a third division using the BF1, and they aren't replacing the FO8 with the BF1, because the FO8 races are just too good and competitive. It clearly demonstrates the FO8 qualities.

I've set the Euro Racing group server to run FO8 at Aston Historic.

IMO the F08 is like the FOX but more powerfull. I mean, i know for me it is, i used FOX for ages, then tried the F08 and loved it and found it to be as easy as the FOX. Tho i guess its personal preference...

I agree, it's very much like the FOX but faster and a tiny bit more wild

I love driving the F08, it's grippy it's quick, it tells you when you're pushing too hard without killing you. Ever since the tyres physics were upgraded it just feels, complete. I'd deffinately be up for an old league with this car. Or maybe just an evening event where we all get together and race?

I would definitely like to get together with the FO8 fans for some events.

FO8 has always been a great car to drive, though before the patch it was only usable on the longer aston configs/westhill/oval, because it was scary and unforgiving on slower corners. But now it's quite nice to throw around. Lots of mechanical grip and enough speed to make it challenging on some twistier sections and fast sweepers.

FOX is nice too on city long (and reversed) but it gets boring on the longer configs. BF1 is a thrill where ever you drive it. But just too fast for the average newcomer. Getting used to the ultra grippy brakes and powerful engine makes it very challenging, specially on shorter configs. TC helps, but it's much more fun without it

Still, a great car which is always left in shadows by the FOX and the GTRs as a fast car class

Providing Sam doesn't object the Odd Combo Club will be left running the V8 for as much of this weekend as people want to drive on it.

I think FO8 is very similar to the GP2 car. I enjoy a lot while driving it but to get into a race you gotta have a really good setup...And i can't make very good setups. If you can't catch up with leaders, it becomes boring.

Anybody knows where to find basic setups for each circuit so we can make small modifications for our own driving style?

I´m really enjoying this car. Actually I think the F08 is the best formular car for the most LFS Tracks in the moment. The car has enough Grip now, but to be fast u must know how to handle this car.

These things happen every now and then. Someone has an idea that a car is neglected and makes a thread about it to see if he/she is on their own or not. Then some admins set their servers to that car and people can have fun with them for a few days, then it dies.
Why not (among a few servers) have the cars or rather classes for a week each? Have the names of the servers and the car in a sticky for everyone to see, something like:

Was thinking of something similar, could create a poll every week for which car to race the next week, put the result in a file on a website, and having a little insim app that reads the file and changes the server appropriately. So long as people look out for said servers, it would work. Different servers run different tracks, so things don't get boring. Cars proving too popular could be removed from the poll.

Atm I'm really struggling to find any good racing, the combo either doesn't exist (as in, nobody is racing it), has a handful or people, or is packed but it a boring combo. For the amount of choice on offer, we need 10x as many people online to make things interesting. Also every day I race a different combo, and a) learn how to race on it and b) tweak an existing setup. By the time the setup is ready and I'm starting to get reasonable times, everyone has left the server, and I never play it again. Really struggling to have fun with LFS. :|

For some odd reason lately i stoped driving the "normal" combos and started to drive on the "odd" ones.. Im having way more fun now...And i been driving the fo8 its such a nice car, its not that hard, and look that i drive it with mouse (well there are some combos where is nearly impossible for me to drive on, little very short tracks and with many tight coners) But most of the track is very nice to drive on. I even manage to get it around SO1 . So im up to this. The sad part is tat after today i dont know when i´ll be able to play LFS again....

I only actually saw an OCC server once though, the day after the thread. Not exactly a raving success. Perhaps it's better to develop the OCC rather than try and start new things up. What do people think of an insim tool?

Good point, the OCC isn't supposed to be dedicated to one car and only one car.

It is always there, it's just that since most people filter out empty servers, most people don't see it.

Yes, but if the FO8 is unused, it's the best option to have the OCC run it on some tracks for a while. After all, FO8 at FE4R is an Odd Combo.

But no way should OCC be FO8-only. But it doesn't need to be LRF only either

But there seems to be somekind of obsession among FO8 servers that the track must be Ky GP long :P And that one sucks necause 1) its boring because it's so fast 2) it eats tires in 3 laps because its so fast!

Btw, does anyone have a set which wouln't understeer much as the race_s? :/
