WOW,
loads of discussion is going on here i did not notice at all. (plz next time give me a hint in the 360° chit-chat club. (and i really want to have this discussion there, so i will copy it there after my post.
i am actually very happy about the number of people who have already signed up and i hope there will be more. (take under consideration only the 20 best of the quallifying will enter the race) (BUT i have something like a junior-league in mind for season 2...)
so where to start?:
fist of all: this is NOT NASCAR, but it is HEAVYLY INFLUENCED by NASCAR.
second: this is season 1 (there will be only 1 season 1
) and maybe some changes will happen in future seasons if this will run successfull, but for now i think everything is well thought.
so we've already cut down the length for all races to 180 (and 2x90) except the flagship-event (thx becky for that term) which will have 360!!! laps (i know its long, but hey you can drive 150 lapers almost every month somewhere). i hope none of you will sh** his pants in that, but make sure the way to the toilette is clear on raceday
for a quick pitstop *g*
on bumpdrafting:
the difference between a bump and "bump-drafting" is mainly in the length of contact. i've bumpdraftet a lot in my lfs-times (remember i am one of the oval-junkies) and my opinion is: if you bump a car in front of you more then one time in a single lap, this will be considered as bumpdrafting. during tests the FXR is really stable for bumdrafting so i will losen up the penalty for that (see the rulez page) to something like 2 bumps per lap is allowed as long as you don't crash the bumped car out or any other car which will cause the bumping car a heavy penalty (i have to think about that though.... THIS IS NOT OFFICAL)
the one thing with the 3 bumps you've wrote is a good idea, allthough this won't be possible to overview during the race.
the thing with pacecar:
the pacecar-phase will be a minimum of 5 laps
- when you see the pace-car message, you have to hit pit-limiter and slow down to 80km/h. no overtaking what! so! ever!!!!!! (except crashed cars which are actually slower then 80 km/h.
- during 1st lap of the pacecar-phase, the pacecar will come out and sets himself in front of the leading car
- during 2nd lap the command will follow: close gaps. which allows you to release the pit-limiter and speed up to close the gap to the car in front of you. you are allowed to overtake cars that drive slower then 80km/h which are probably wrecked or out of fuel
- wrecked cars are allowed to pit in anytime they like during pacecar-phase (which is actually different to NASCAR!) all other cars, are allowed to do so after the "close gaps" command is displayed (so don't drive to 0.0% fuel, keep in at least fuel for 2 laps)
- the closing gap phase will be finished when all cars are lined up behind the pacecar (3rd and 4th lap). if this takes longer, the pacecar phase will be longer but is under consideration of the pacecar-driver and race-controll
-by the end of the 4th lap the pacecar will give the command like: pace car will speed up and will enter pits next lap.
- in the 5th lap the pacecar will speed up and will enter pits again
the race is set free when your car crosses the finish line. any overtaking or crashing before the finish-line will cause a penalty after race-review. if the overtaking is so obvious, racecontroll can see it (maybe lfs-spectator) you can face a drivethrough penalty even during the race. (on the speedway 180, this will happen at the turnaround section.
loads of things to consider...
this is season 1 so there will be some tweaks for the future, but don't be shy, be part of it and bring in your skill and your thoughts to make this to a well known league in LFS.
