What Nascar Track?!
The Oval track, and to call it a NASCAR track is a massive generalisation. What about those of us who race the UF1000 there :P ?
honestly it would be awsome to have a nascar spec car in LFS with a few varying ovals thrown in as well. it would bring in alot of money for LFS.
I will suggest removing KY Oval from LFS completely until we have
a) Indy/Nascar variant car with oval specific settings
b) revised KY Oval that would actually need braking or at least lifting the throttle
c) dynamic track groove
yeah those things should be implemented so that it isnt just mindless exercise for my left arm and right foot
lets hope we see them soon.
yes, a indy car and nascar would be nice, it would keep the BF1 off the oval also.

try to drive the FZ5 on full throttle through all the turns

Easy with crafty use of the clutch.

I agree with this, Gabkicks, as long as we have the proper settings for stockcars, ie, weight bias, castor, different tires left and right, basically it needs to be like NR2003. Not many of us in the US are racing LFS. Most are using rFactor I would guess and still, so many are still using NR2003. Problem is, NR2003 IS Nascar and you won't get them away from a true Nascar sim just by having stock car oval racing in LFS. Folks are still racing with NR2003 not because it is stock car oval racing, but because it is Nascar. Unless LFS would pay the licensing (which it won't) to put Jimmi Johnson, Tony Stewart, Dale E. Jr, etc in the sim as AI, then you won't get them away from NR2003.

If I want to race oval racing, I'll just load up NR2003. The mods coming from some folks are phenomenal (sp?). The Jimmy Johnson spotter pack by David Hoffman is great, the track and AI updates are amazing. You actually get true 43 car pack 3 wide racing door to door with 3 distinct racing lines at Daytona with the AI. I've been away from it too long and can't remember who does the track and AI updates. My brother-in-law is still into racing offline NR2003 and keeps up with the updates. Methyl Ethyl has done some fantastic work with The Sounds of Nascar. Some of you may have raced with a guy named Methyl Ethyl here in LFS a long while back. That was my brother-in-law who bought his S1 license from Methyl Ethyl before upgrading it to S2.

It may be old, but it is far from dead. Aside from LFS, and being a different type of racing, it is surpassed by none as an excellent racing sim to this day.
Ugh, Faster, you've been here long enough to both know this has been suggested many times, and to know to search.

And, I would like to bring about this point again; There is no such thing as A NASCAR. NASCAR is not a car. NASCAR is a sanctioning body, like the FIA, ACO, etc. The cars raced in the two upper-tiers of NASCAR are 'Stock Cars.' Please, stop calling them 'nascars,' everyone.

Also, the KY Oval is not a NASCAR track. NASCAR does not run on it, NASCAR does not own, and most of all, it is not on the same continent that NASCAR runs on. NASCAR has 2 events in Mexico, 1 (or 2?) in Canada as of 2007, and the rest are all in the US. At least, for the three higher-tiered series in NASCAR anyways. The only way something could be a 'NASCAR Track' would be for the sanctioning body to own it. KY Oval (or any LFS track, for that matter) is fictional. Therefore, cannot be owned by NASCAR without a license agreement with Scavier, and as such, KY Oval is not a 'NASCAR Track.'

Oh, and yes, I think it'd be neat to have a 'Stock Car' in LFS; not just for the Oval, either.

What he said. Maybe it's time again to have some oval racing... Nascar 2003 by papyrus is the best sim for it. Even when racin against ai, you can have some good fights, though the cars are a bit unforgiving

But I really see no reason for eric o start making more ovals, as it will delay the other tracks. I'd would much rather have a good laguna seca/mosport type of track instead of oval.
thats right.
