Quote from Hankstar :...because...

I hate Apple with a passion.

Much more of a fan with the creative zen series since day one.
I have a 20GB Toshiba Gigabeat. It has a magnesium case and a really scratch resistant screen, which I like a lot. The biggest thing is that it works with my Napster to go. That's an absolute must for me. I really like being able to download as much music as I want and put it on my player for what's essentially the price of one CD a month. Yes I know I'm supporting Microsoft and DRM, but I don't personally mind paying for my music.

I've used about 12 GB of space on it, I've got 2542 songs

To be honest though, if it worked with Napster, I'd probably get an iPod. I wouldn't get one because they're "cool" or everyone has them, though. I'm just a sucker for design, and I like how sleek the iPod looks; that's the same reason I love my Motorloa PEBL phone.

Seriously though, no point in hating a computer when it can't hate you back. You're doing all the work in the relationship
Quote from mrodgers :Heck, I don't even have a cell phone. I can see wanting an ipod or mp3 player, but it's just ridiculous how many people have cell phones. Talkin in the car, talkin in the mall, talkin in the restaurant, talkin everywhere. Is it all that important to talk to someone on the freakin phone?

I only really send texts, so you won't hear me blabbing around too often. But what is funny, when you got a headset, it looks like it's from an mp3. You get called, and just start talking, people are like, what the **** is he doin'? So funny
Quote from the_angry_angel :I'm using an iRiver H320 atm. I originally bought it to assist with rockbox, after loving it on my Archos Jukebox 6000 - never quite got around to it though

the archos jukebox 6000, the real classic. big, heavy but a 6gb notebook drive . Mine hold for about 4 years, now using a archos gmini xs202²
I have a Sony Clie NX70V for all my portable multimedia needs. I don't have a cell phone. The Clie is basically a palm pilot, but it has a memory stick slot, a CF slot, a camera and can keep track of stuff to do ^.^ Mostly it just serves as an mp3 player though plugged into my car stereo's aux input. I have about 12gigs of music on my computer and only about 256mb worth of flash memory for it though. Each filling ends up lasting about a week or so (my trip to work is pretty short). If I were to get a new device solely for mp3s, it wouldn't me an iPod though. I would probably get an iRiver device, but I can't say I've researched it very much though. I'm happy with my Clie.
My standard issue Ipod earphones broke after two weeks but I judge on the hardware, I expected the earphones to break

As for DRM, there is an elementary way round it normally which you probably know so I am not going to post it
No iPod for me. Sony for the win! 20 Gb about 20 - 30 hours battery life. Still only half full too.
