The online racing simulator
Quote from thisnameistaken :I'd like a forum filter that nixes any thread with "S3" in the title. Can we have that in time for S2 full though?

#2, QFE, QFT, Seconded, +1
Before the developers start adding features I'd like them to get the ones we've already got right first. By this I mean massively improved sound, higher res graphics and preload on the clutch pack diffs.

I think sound is one of the most important things to get right to improve the 'immersement' of the game.
I'd like more short to medium length tracks - Aston Cadet to Aston Club length. GP length tracks are not much fun online unless the server is full and you drive fast cars - but the closest racing is to be had in slower vehicles.

I'd like 40 car or more grids. 20 is incredibly sparse for an online game of any kind.
much better replay function
Quote from Racer Y :I dunno an interactive car stereo for the road cars and TBOs.

With Music Shops in South City, and virtual CD's. And a concert stage
where James Brown could perform various national anthems for the winners. And a virtual podium. And a virtual interview room.

And a virtual Bob Varsha.....and a virtual mallet.

Seriously though there's no reason to say "if ever". All that's been promised is that S2 Final and eventually S3 will someday exist; Acts of God notwithstanding. You've been around long enough that you know what the scoop is, so one can only assume that your original comment was good old fashioned trolling.

Quote from tristancliffe :It makes liking rFactor more bearable for him

LOL- you people are so silly..

Seriously, I don't know that S3 with ever be or not.. In the world of software companies, etc.. nothing is written in stone and all I am saying is that it might never happen. Hence the "if ever".
Can't Resist
Triple Red Turtle Shells!
- - V8 RWD cars
- - more turbo cars
- - more street cars(maybe something like civics, supras, mustangs, WRX). Cars that you would see at street races(atleast in the USA)
- - more engine dynamics( boost, power adders, etc)
$.02
I prioritize the top 5 as:
1. Track Editor - Even simple piece simalar to like Roller Coaster Tycoon.
2. Dynamic Weather - Rain, Snow, Fog that change.
3. Dynamic Track Surfaces, grip level changes as rubber is laid down, washed away, oil spilled.
4. Car Editor - Some chassis component Configurations, Tq Curve, FWD, AWD, RWD, Diffs, Weights, Suspension Types.
5. Some tweaks to Physics/Drivetrain/Suspension capabilites.
Well if there was track editor (almost) everyone wont know the track very well
and it would be pathetic. they dont even have the edited file of the track
oh yeah change the temps now that would be interesting
AND YOU CANT HAVE TOO MANY REAL TRACKS OR CARS
you need loads of money to put a real car and even more to make a track
Ok.
Night racing.
Lights that light up the road (not just an image)
Turning off the flashers by pressing the same button again (eg. press 7, 8 or 9 again instead of 0)
Weather.
Windscreen wipers.
Stallable cars.
Low fuel indicator for the less observant of us.
More realistic damage.
No weird physics from the red and white barriers.

Thats all for now.
tracks that you can test the performance of the cars, like autobahn or other highways
Maybe a new "Rain" weather option, and it makes cars more slippery and tricky to handle. 1 or 2 more cars specialising in rallycrosses would be nice.Actually, LFS is so good that there's nothing much more to add.... =P
Erm track editor? Isnt that almost the same as autocross?
I'd really love to see some WRC's...with some REAL rally special stages modelled into the game. While you could race with all the cars in different tracks, it would blow other sims and arcade games away if S3 would also let you take a cruise in a city with some vehicles....

So you could really test the cops too...

It would be my wet dream come true if we had a driving simulator with dead on physics and modder's could add real cars and real cities into it.
Figure 8 track with school busses +1

Thats all that "Needs" to be done.
breakage of glass
As for ingame effects I would personally go with:

In game:
Improvement to the smoke system/dirt sticking to glass with ability of wipers (apart from single seaters) to wipe it off. Damage improved, with the breaking of glass as mensioned above, oil spillage, broken glass can cause tire puncture. Tire makes to have different outcomes, i.e: Michelin/Dunlop have two different attributes.

Vehicles:
SUV, older modeled cars, something from the 50's as I have seen in rFactor, could have been 60/70's. Trucks is a maybe for all although would bring a whole lot more to the community as titles like 18:WOS are proving to be infamous. Finally just some add-on in-game player chosen improvements to the car like: Spoilers, wheels etc, not too NFS but more GT4. That would be all from me.
I want I want I want:
  • Realistic damage modelling for over-revved engines
  • Damage for gearboxes affecting performance, maybe losing the odd gear or gear getting jammed in a gear for a bit if you are too harsh with your changes.
  • Realistic gear shifting so you can't simply fire down thru 6 gears in 0.1 seconds, more along the lines of the Netkar gears, where shifting in the right place is part of the art of driving well and fast.
  • Dynamic weather options
  • Intelligent A.I.
  • Race career modes supported on special servers, starting off beginners on the lower power cars until enough points have been awarded for good results to upgrade to more powerful cars. (like the STCC races)
  • Hi-res pitbabe animated graphics before each race
#70 - d6nn
1. Brakes overheating/ underheating
2.larger autcross layouts+more objects.
3. less buggy barriers
4.weather
5.when cars collide, cars get scratched and so...

but anyways s2 a is gr8 too
Quote from ethan520 :I wished when i get the licence you could make the autocross have different amounts of dirt, dust and water
oh yeah and grass.
Also I wished you could have a ramp that curves and concrete bricks to make a parking lot like in
The Fast And The Furious Tokyo Drift

+1 for that idea! Like in the Black Eyed Peas - Pump It! a car park like that.
-Rain and different weather types
-Real life drift tracks like, tougue, Ebisu etc
-Changeable rims
-Night mod with working lights
-Changeable Boost settings in-car
-Changeable BOV sounds
if someone mensioned this here im sorry
AI that dont always follow the racing line
Although that realistic damage and those gearbox things would take LOADS of patches
or time

sorry for double post but
THIS IS NOT A GAME THAT IS MAPPING A REALISTIC WORLD
and you have to do a lot to copy a track
What I want in S3 :

- A 4 Door 4WD Sport Sedan...
- Weather can change (rain, snow, hot, etc.)
- Handbrake are visible at (not like now which only got gear)
- Hand moving when changing gear, pull ebrake etc.
- More rally tracks
- More texture parts can be replaced (meter, gear, etc.)
- Foot movement when change gear, press clutch, brake etc.
- Can select AI to choose what set and skin.
- Lights like XRT/XRR can be opened up.
- Can select passenger to wear racing suit or casual clothes (race driver too)
- Can change bodyparts (spoiler, skirt etc.)
- Everypart that you install in LFS (refer to the "can change bodyparts) has effect when you put on a car.

Thats all for now that I can think. More will come.

What do you want to see for S3?
