In the case of a late joiner it can be. I've seen a flagged car actually overtake just about entire field and hitting them while doing it.

What did I say about the additude? Of course you are entitled to overtake a car that's laps ahead if you're significantly faster, but how sensible is it to take the risk of ruining somebody's race with that, because the driver laps ahead is not committed to give you ANY room.
dont mind blue flag messages when i deserve it but thats not very often.

what does pee me off is the blue flag let me through "spam" you get when they are closing so slow that it takes them almost a lap to catch you. especially on ascot club when apart from the 2 hairpins unless your a complete dimwitt you arent probably going to hold them up, i try to time it so i can pull wide at entrance to the hairpins and let them through without slowing them but it must be said that part of the skill of leading a race in real life is judging your speed so you catch a backmarker at a place where you can pass them, i.e. its better to be a touch slower before a bend and then at full speed through a bend so you can pass on the next straight rather than being held up through the bend, and letting the car behind get a run on you, or even worse trying a desperate lunge to pass the backmarker from too far back befoe the bend.

one final point

Manners help a lot, ask to be let past, don't demand it and if you can bind a "blue flag get out of my way" type message to a key, you can certainly do the same with a "thank you :-) " to use after they have let you past !
Manners go a long way!

If you're that much faster than that poor person in front, smile: You're faster than them. Cut them some slack and give them a reasonable chance to get out of the way. Go past and say thank you. Remember, you don't have a divine right to the track all the time, consider hotlapping if you can't share nicely.

If you're being blue flagged, keep an eye on the person behind. When there's space, lift off bit and give them some room. If they're that much quicker, they won't be behind you for long meaning neither of you suffer unduly.

If you're feeling generous, remember your indicators
I hate blue flag hotkeys, unfortunately, i've not yet implemented any system to auto-ban people who use one...

Superb!

When you do, could you be careful that it doesn't boot people for saying 'Thanks for respecting Blue Flags' or similar. I sometimes say it after a race when I don't get time to smile or whatever during the race due to an ongoing battle for place.

Indicators don't work because half the racers think indicating means "I'm moving here" and half think indicating means "pass me on this side." I myself was wondering for the longest time why I was getting rammed when I put my left indicator on to tell others I was moving left to let them by. Had no idea that on the European circuits, you indicate where you want the other driver to go. I had never seen indicators used in racing before.
I always indicate like in a real car - where I am going to go. Anything else is counter intuitive, and should be avoided.
Wot he said /|\ Indicators are just that, indicators, not instructicators.

If you make one, can you also include the people who use a "I'm so Sorry BrOtHeR" hotkey after they wrecked someone off the track

I completely agree with both of you, but I recall quite a discussion on it in the past that no one could agree on (could have stemmed from yet another Blue Flag discussion).

That would be useful tool for many servers.

With the blue flag it gives you enough warning, but some people seem to think they they own the track and nothing will change that. Even if a programme, like becky said, could auto ban people then they would simply not spam "blue flag move" etc but still drive the same.

Off topic - Good to see your back becky

That's certainly not a rule on European circuits, I think what we have here is the difference online where some players are old enough to drive a car, and some think you turn the wheel constantly left and right whilst singing a nursery rhym.
When i get blue flaged, i slow dam a tad, and flash the indicater, in which im giving him room (if i flashed my right, id give room on the right).

When i race irl, i just stick my finger out the window, indicating im giving him room (seeing as my car has no lights...)

That's just something I gathered from memory of the other discussion I mentioned.

And see! This is where the confusion sets in. A comment going in the complete opposite direction of what Tristan, Doorman, and I all stated earlier.

So, indicators are exactly the same as the hold line/move over debate of the blue flag, which is what this topic is originally about. Sorry for drifting away from the original topic, which drifting and racing is another debat..... ah, never mind .
