If you pit 2 clean drivers together, they will have some incidents, but to me a dirty driver is a driver who is involved in an incident nearly every race, or even more than 50% of the time. A clean driver is one who in say.. 50 races, is involved in 1 incident, but pulls over and lets the driver he put to a disadvantage to pass.
Racing incidents happen, perhaps someone broke a couple ft early or thought they could carry more speed than they could and went wide through a turn, or locked a tyre etc. All of this is fair enough, and normally followed by an apology and if a position was gained then its given back. If its happening on purpose or with some sort of intent, thats different, and what mods are for
I have one problem with S2: There are too many tracks and too many cars to learn! I propably won't be able to go online for the next couple of months!
I did go to the STCC server but all I could do was try desperately NOT to interfere with the other peoples race. Have to learn the track first and the 20 laps I did prior to joinin obviously weren't enough.
Back to topic!
A couple of days ago I had quite a heated argument on the Off Topic section with a S2 licensed person. Not once did he say anything about me being a Demo Racer. Or give the impression that my points weren't valid because I was a Demo Racer.
So there! I don't think that there is any tension between Demo and S2. The tension is between certain individuals. And Criticaldrift should just learn to live with it.
PS. Should have made this post before I bought the license. Now I sound like an uptight Demo Racer hater.
Hey that rhymes! Maybe I should start writing lyrics.
Well, as a *current* demo user (as of this posting), I can say that I have not encountered any of those "anti-demo" vibe from anyone here. However, I wouldn't doubt that responses to ill-informed/unrelated remarks would have a bit more "bite" to them unless I was S2 licensed.
Still, it would all be in good fun, and really is no reason to get all uppity about it. Or create a whole thread about it. But it's here, and I'm posting.
I think that the only time Licenced users get angry with Demo users is when they make a bunch of request for more cars or tracks added to demo, or act like they have been an addition to the community just with their presence. There have been several demo users in the past who have contributed to the community in a positive way, and they had been rewarded one way or another.
" Third thing... Assuming that everyone is like a few bad apples is ignorant."
If I recall, there is a post of someone saying-"..and I would not like the idea of demo racers on s2 servers.." or something of the sort...treat others how you want to treat them.
If you have never seen an s2 user being arrogant, lucky you.
lucky....lucky you
And that wasn't the first time. I just happened to catch it at the last second. I don't even remember what happened...oh yes. He crashed someone, they got mad, and said he had no skill. So he said "I have a x-x-x(car) in real life, I don't need this game." and then I said that he shouldn't be playing with that kind of temper. In retrospect, im not even sure if he was an s2 racer. However, it's the kind of attitude I see some people receive. I know that there are alot of demo racers who act arrogantly, and biasing a group is bad. So biasing a bunch of people who didnt buy a game is right?
...this post isn't ridiculous...I actually have a reputation of only posting one topic in a long while, and causing week long debates. I guess that's how my post count goes up
What does not being old have to do with anything... Get it for your 9th birthday, or any situation you recieve gifts... or how about, *drum roll please*... cutting some grass for $??...
How does a post where someone does not like the idea of demo racers in an s2 server upset you so much. It is totally illogical to have DEMO players in the S2 version, it's the SOLE reason you have a demo in the first place. TRY IT, THEN BUY IT.
Get it through your head that some people are just jack asses, don't acknowledge them and get sucked into their ignorant mind games. You'll live a much happier life avoiding these morons.
The reason that this post has had a long debate is because you insist on arguing a taboo fact relentlessly.
"PS: It's sole purpose not soul purpose"... That right there proves to me your maturity level. I don't think you're ready to race in S2... So have fun in the demo kid. Hopefully your 10th birthday is good to you.
*P.S. It's I'm, not im. (If you want to stoop to grammar mistakes)*
Grow up, stop the relentless arguing of taboo facts, and you'll get treated properly. There's no excuse for being a "cheapskate", no matter what your age or income is.
Note: Just because people may be poor, it does not make them "cheapskates"... When you complain about something that is provided to you for FREE, your "cheapskate" level skyrockets... So don't expect any special treatment, especially when you're riding the "cheapskate" transit.
iDi? n00bs who can't drive for shizzle? wreckers? i don't want any of these on S2 servers, im sure there are good demo'ers, but it just isn't worth the risk of some n00b coming and wrecking me
on demo servers ive met several of these people - my bet is that they dont have any more money than you, and unfortunately they get their kicks wrecking and inflating their ego, although i must admit i've NEVER seen an S2'er do it (well, once, but i asked for his license username and he didn't actually have S2)
i freely admit that i don't like many demo users, as a lot of them crack, request "teh n0z" or want more for free, there are a few exceptions (wheel4hummer, jovadzic, monkonahottinroof, Elektrik Kar etc), but more i don't think much of, not because their S2 users, but because of the way they act.
look, i'm just saying that on the demo the concentration of people who can't drive, drive uncleanly or who just plain wreck is a LOT higher than in S2 - i don't want those people in S2
Wait guys, I think there's a misunderstanding going on. I don't think Jakg has anything against demo users who decide to pay for S2. Wasn't the debate about temporarily allowing demo users to access S2 licensed servers? I think THAT is what Jakg doesn't want at any cost (me included).
I think Tom's making the point that you're easily the most vocal user here when it comes to pointing the cracking finger at demo users. You're becoming the Joe McCarthy of the LFS forums.
I ccl what you were refering to, your attitude toward's demo user's is getting old to say the least.
High post count's make you no better than anyone else on this forum, demo or S2.
The above is only my opinion of course.
BTW, i agree, yhe idea of giving demo user's access to s2 for Xdays a month is not a good one.
@android, i usually dont either. But this time I do, I am talking about the constant bashing demo users take on this forum. Im glad I never found this forum until after I bought the game. (no need for a new post, well, i guess now there was LOL )
... "9th birthday" ? Asshole. Get you facts straight. And because you are being like that, fine, i'm not getting s2 if I am not ready for it. GO and try to find another 13 year old demo racer as mature as I am.
Correcting grammar now is insulting? What is the world coming to, people are so intolerant. I didn't say that in an "in your face" way, I was just correcting you. Just because you are older, doesn't mean you are more superior than people younger than you.
Hell, lets play the stereotype game: S2 racers are all over-aged pros who can't take a question from someone with less experience than them, can't look deeper into a subject without stereotyping it, and is afraid to press Ctrl+S, and instead complains about "demo n00bz" crashing them. ..no, I don't really mean that, but I am pissed right now and i'm sorry to you guys.
Jeeze, when I play on demo, I don't get crashed by people all the time, but thats what we were labeled as. Some people say that if I was on s2, and not even online, for about an hour, I don't know the experience of s2. But nearly everyone who said they played demo for 20 minutes already knows how we are, thanks hypocrites.
If correcting a person's grammatical error deems me as unready for s2, then I guess nothing will. And then I guess that calling me an 8 year old without any factual information readies me for s2. That's comforting.
