Blue flag at pit exit

Voice messages? It really wouldn't require many samples to create audible explanations for the flags. Below I have listed what kind of of and how many samples you would need for this:

- Red flag : When is this displayed in LFS? Maybe when we get restarts when we need to drive back to grid but currently no need.

- Yellow flag : 2 different:
Single waved : "Yellow flag, yellow flag. Reduce your speed. Do not overtake."
Double waved : "Yellow flags, yellow flags. Reduce your speed. Do not overtake. Prepare to stop"

- Green flag : "Green flag, green flag". Also some kind of warning about going green so you know what's going on.

- Yellow flag with red stripes : no need in LFS yet *dreaming*

- Light Blue flag : 3 different:
Stationary, pit exit : "Exiting pits, merge traffic with caution"
Stationary, practise : "Faster car approaching, give way, give way"
Stationary, practise : "You are being lapped, give way, give way"

- Black flag : No need in LFS, at least not implemented yet.

- White flag: "Slower car ahead, pass with care, pass with care"

So in total that is 7 or 11 different sound samples. That isn't really much but imho sound samples, some sort of additional information, is defenately required if you put the flags on the side of the tracks. Experienced race drivers know what to do when you see these flags but to new drivers these flags are a mystery. There is the chance that some people won't even notice these flags unless told. Of course it would require Scawen to code a system to play these sounds, detect when the sounds are needed, prevent sounds played over each others and the option to turn them off etc. Imho, the text should go away from the middle of the screen, but not until you get audible messages because people need the information on 2 things: what's going on (=what the flag means) and what they should do. Below is the FIA rules, although Gunn could probably explain them better

Quote :
4.1.2 Flag signals to be used at observation posts:

a) Red flag:
This should be shown waved only on instruction from the Clerk
of the Course when it becomes necessary to stop a practice
session or the race. All drivers are required to slow down
immediately and proceed to the pit lane (or the place foreseen
by the regulations of the Event), and must be prepared to stop if
necessary. Overtaking is not permitted.

b) Yellow flag:
This is a signal of danger and should be shown to drivers in two
ways with the following meanings:
- Single waved: Reduce your speed, do not overtake and be
prepared to change direction. There is a hazard beside or
partly on the track.
- Double waved: Reduce your speed, do not overtake and be
prepared to change direction or stop. There is a hazard wholly
or partly blocking the track.
Yellow flags should normally be shown only at the marshals’ post
immediately preceding the hazard.
In some cases however the Clerk of the Course may order them
to be shown at more than one marshals’ post preceding an
incident.
Overtaking is not permitted between the first yellow flag and the
green flag displayed after the incident.
Yellow flags should not be shown in the pit lane unless there is an
incident of which the driver should be made aware.

c) Yellow flag with red stripes:
This should be shown motionless to inform drivers that there is
a deterioration of adhesion due to oil or water on the track in the
area beyond the flag.
This flag should be displayed, for at least (depending on the
circumstances) 4 laps unless the surface returns to normal
beforehand. It is not however necessary for the sector beyond
where this flag is being shown to show a green flag.

d) Light Blue flag:
This should normally be waved, as an indication to a driver that
he is about to be overtaken. It has different meanings during
practice and the race.
At all times :
- A stationary flag should be displayed to a driver leaving the pits
if traffic is approaching on the track.
During practice :
- Give way to a faster car which is about to overtake you.
During the race :
- The flag should normally be shown to a car about to be
lapped and, when shown, the driver concerned must allow the
following car to pass at the earliest opportunity.

e) White flag:
This flag should be waved and is used to indicate to the driver
that there is a much slower vehicle on the sector of track
controlled by that fl ag point.

f) Green flag:
This should be used to indicate that the track is clear and should
be waved
at the observation post immediately after the incident
that necessitated the use of one or more yellow flags.
- It may also be used, if deemed necessary by the Clerk of the
Course, to signal the start of a warm-up lap or the start of a
practice session.

I think that something akin to LFSC should be built in to LFS and use that to provide the driver with flag info.

This would be a brilliant addition to the game!

A traffic light on the pitlane entry and exit would be a welcome addition indeed. I'd like to see a red light on the first and last laps to demonstrate the pitlane is closed, and of course a blue light at the end of the pitlane when exiting the pits.
It would improve safety and in some cases, reduce the volume of UI we see on the screen.

Kringle, that's a bit of an old thread

Well does the Black Flag only mean Penalty (there was a 30sec Stop and Go given in the DTM... i dont know when, but they took the Black Flag for signaling it the driver)???

the thing about animated marshall flags is great, but till then, I would prefer just a pic of a flag near the "own position/lap time/race time/laps" HUD. There you could use the Blackflag with DT/SG (or a green and red dot on it)... and so on, to show you, that there is a penalty for you.
These Big Penalty Messages you can see, but they are taking too much of the screen!

For Pit Exit I think it would be great just to have this blinking lights!

This thing with the audio remembering me of Becky Roses' LFS Companion. I would like the complete Companion to be included in LFS then only put there some spoken warnings because of flags!
