Quote from avaran :I really like the idea of point to point tracks, and believe the addition of such a track could increase the longevity of the game.

A good example of point to point racing is of course WRC.

But the point to point racing I'm really interested in and would love to see could be something similar to the great point to point style racing here in Australia. Such as;

Mt. Buller Sprint:
Web site: http://www.mtbullersprint.com
Course Map: http://www.mtbullersprint.com/ ... f/MtBullerTouristRoad.pdf

Targa Tasmania:
Web Site: http://www.targa.org.au/
Course Map: http://www.targa.org.au/images ... ps/2007%20State%20Map.jpg

Targa Tasmania started this week by the way!

The racing could be done as in events such as these, with individual racers starting at set time intervals, say 10 or 20 seconds (It's minutes in real life I believe?). And if you catch up? Race clean, just as in a real Rally!
Times could be displayed as normal finishing times are done, and spectate until all the racers have finished, start again. Or just pit and run again? Just like a huge time trial session.
Or head to head races? (A la test drive 2! HAHAHA! )

I belive this would only benifit a sim of such high calibre (In terms of physics/On-line racing/community) as LFS. Drawing another segment of the market towards the sim.

Hopefully this comment is appreciated by the community, as my search on 'Mountain' tracks proved to bring up some threads with quite heated discussions! So if I am repeating anything, just note it as my enthusiasm for racing on courses such as these. (I decided to post in this thread as it most seemed to suit the what I wanted to contribute to, an idea for new tracks).

We have a targa too, targa newfoundland. It drives right past my house every year. Id love to go in it, show all those got-a-nice-car-no-skill-people how its done.

+1 for the idea, was thinking about it last night. Kind of a rbr thing. I like that game aswell, as for online, start in intervals of say 30 seconds, and beat eachothers speeds.
Thanks steve, that targa looks good. Maybe a little too tight for something I'd like to do in real life!!! :jawdrop: (I don't own enough pairs of underwear )

Who pays for the damage if a competitor goes through a house!?!

I'm really hoping Scawen, Victor and Eric have the same passion for Rallies and Targa's as we do!
lfs is a racing simulator, and rallys are one of the most popular forms of racing. To think lfs will never have a rally stage is ludacris.
As for damage to houses/fences... Insurance of targa itself id say. I dont think there has been any damage to houses but i know fences were destroyed completely. Around where i live, there are so many amazing places to race, but the roads are in horrible shape. Giant potholes and stuff. My girlfriend hit a pothole, poped her front right tire, and almost went in the ocean.
Ehm. I believe you mean sprint racing. And it sounds like a great idea. Although it is a bit of an overused idea.
And here is the first contender for this map!!!

Its called "The Tail Of The Dragon" 318 curves in 11 miles. Its fuggin nutz.

Easy to get first person videos of this. I will be on this road in less then a month on my 04 GSXR750. SO EXCITED!!!
