TEST Patch P4 (now P12)

Quote from ORION :It only showed up after the first load. everything working now

btw.
You have to press Ctrl to open the small "select colors toobar" in the talk window. Why not display it always?

And it is kind of annoying to have to always use the mouse to select the colour . Maybe if CTRL+1/2/3/4/# could select the colour too, it would be nice?
I'm getting the same results with that test player file as nesrulz.
Quote from Scawen :Good that you didn't get a vanishing or corrupted player. I'd still like to understand how it can draw different characters in Windows, and in LFS. Please can you run this language test exe and post a screen shot of the result so i get to see what your system codepages are? www.liveforspeed.co.uk/language_kb.zip

Is this the same language_kb.exe file as last week? If so I already posted the results.
Quote from Scawen :Thanks for the test results. It's good that you couldn't create a corruptable player name in P10. I think it's impossible to make any ^ characters appear in P10 now, by pressing the delete key. You can only get ^ if you actually type ^ because of the way the new text entry thing works.

I tried to reproduce the thing with player names but it worked ok to my surpruse. I made several new players with Cyrillic, Central European and everything was read correctly after I switched back and loaded that player again. Windows Explorer showed correct latin Central European characters in that filename: š and ć in my example, but not Cyrillic although that was not a problem as LFS read and showed that correctly every time.

Then I started messing with the colours, editing player names and that bug happened again. CrazyICE described it well, LFS made another ply file beside the old one which was stripped after some point (I think it was also a dot as was in his case). Old file with full name stayed there in the misc folder and there was that new cropped one. In LFS it only showed the cropped one, sometimes twice and they couldn't be deleted from LFS, it kept appearing again (probably the one that kept apearing was that long one). It behaved strangley and I couldn't remember exactly what was hapening. When I tried to reproduce it again starting all over with another player I couldn't. Need to try more to find that combination which gives the strange code to LFS...

Few other things I noticed:

AltGr (right Alt key) also calls those new colours in message box same as Ctrl does. I've been using AltGr to type in euro simbol and ^ so I'm not sure if this new behaviour was intended?

Also, selecting colours in this new way affects only characters typed after that. If we want to edit the colours we have to type the text again.

If someone has high ascii character in the player name (like I have a š, which is actually a part of Latin 1 charset so I was having it for a long time before these test patches) and when message is typed in Cyrillic for example, that character in player name appears in that different codepage: š becomes љ. It seems that it appears like that only if message is started with Cyrillic keyboard, if I start with other and change to Cyrillic later in the message it appears ok. Screenshot.

Hm ok, that was enough for now. Thank you for the new patch, its getting closer

Actually there one more thing. Over the car it appears exactly as in Windows, but in game menus in every place: connection list in game, player options, race setup screen... its different with that little 3 symbol.

Misko, thanks for those interesting bug reports. Yes we are getting quite close now and it looks like those can all be fixed reasonably easily.

Can you do one test for me with the player name. First make a backup of your player file, in another folder, just so we can get it back if needed. Then, in LFS, just make a small change to your player name, for example add one normal latin character to the end of it. Now i'd like to know, with the newly edited version of the player name, if that character in the middle still does that changing to the cyrillic character - or does that only happen on the old version of the player.
I did what you said and it made no difference but after trying several combinations I think I got it: š and ž can change to љ and ћ, their capitals too, but ONLY if they are positioned BEFORE the other high characters in the player name (before the ^E is inserted) because they exist in Latin 1 codepage. And the "solution" is to edit the ply filename and put the ^E at the beginning. After that all is well.
Me wants physic updates - netkar Pro is on the road...

changed the screen resolution and it was gone even after switching back to 1280x960

Gfx card / RAM overcloked ?

yes but who said nk has had any real improvement physicswise over 0.99 where u could drive the wr with your car upside down? not to mention the fake arbs and cambers? the fact the 2 physics betatesters left over half a year ago doesnt add any confidence nkpro will behave any better. of coz for the harcore fans its enuff if it moves like 0.99
Scawen, another perfectionist request here: in the autocross editor, the sign "D : %.2f m" is not in translation file.

3a_maxtexrs seems to be out of use, because there is no more such option (was nice thing, BTW).

Also, in SHIFT+U mode the usage of 4-7 keys isn't explained.

nesrulz, You need to switch kb and make screenshots of those situations too.
Thx for the P10 patch, nice that official polish translation is finally included However, i have found some bugs in it, how can i help with sorting them out? Should i contact author of the original translation or post/send an improved version of polish.txt file?
Here is the translation of Autocross.txt file. Can I get the blank form for keys.pdf file?

[edit] Is there a way to add % sign into a translation string?

[edit 2] Updated the txt, now it's in UTF-8, readable and displayed correctly at any system

Thanks for the file which i will add to the docs folder. You need to ask GP4Flo about the keys.pdf file.

I think you can put a % in a translation string with %% - that should appear as %.
To everyone else who posted here and i haven't replied yet : thanks, for your tests and comments. I will carefully check out every post since the P10 post, on the way to P11...

That's because your messages under the F-keys still have the ^ color code, wich doesnt work anymore. Just delete and redo them with the new color picker.
Every time when i turn on lfs i need fix font size. It do not remember last size 0.45

Quote from (SaM) :I have. It works for me. The messages were correct in the first place even. So then it's another issue..

it doesn't work for me as well.

for example, my original f1 displays a yellow colored "^_^" smiley.

with P10 installed, whenever I type a sentence followed up with a f1 smiley, the message would display something like this:

"Hello guys nice to meet you ^3^_^^" <---- the smiley (color is back to default) is there but there are additional characters as well.

I went into options, delete the old f1 bind and replaced a new one with the p10 color changer, and the problem is still there.

one thing though, if you directly presses the f1 key without any other characters/sentences included, the smiley would displayed normally.

the problem only rises when you have other characters/sentences in the talk box.
