@shaun: To your question, while it might be technically possible to put the pagefile on the USB drive, you cannot extend your RAM with it - and you wouldn't want to do this anyway, as the memory on USB sticks is far FAR slower than your RAM, which would just make your computer much slower.

yes it does - but he has XP Home.

It's ReadyBoost, and it doesn't seem to improve perforance a whole lot
