and instead of telling us when something will happen, maybe giving us a link. i don't know bud, but getting info from you sometimes feels like begging. maybe that should be on your to-do list "become more transparent (as a race director)" also, clicking on the link in your name takes you guess where? you've guessed it, here. so although the idea of having that link in your signature was sound, it is actually annoying and just stupid imo
the legal telepitting (qually) is stop on. it was a very big success in the last session and imo it took the league one step closer to becomming a top league. all that is needed now is more drivers
More drivers? hmm... I'm sorry to say but I doubt there will be any more additional entrants. Sorry duke but theres just no interest, I dunno why . I've always loved the BF1 and it is my fav car in LFS and I'll most probably stay in the league but whats the point of a league when there aren't any drivers? I could just drive the BF1 in my own time. See if QS can maybe make a vid, he's very good at all that, would increase interest. I'd make a vid but I don't have the necessary tools and time for it.
Oh sorry, forgot to add something too . I think the main reason why there isn't any real interest is because of OWRL F1, thats the center of all the BF1 action and all those who love the BF1 are in it so thats another reason why there isn't much interest. So the timing was quite a bit off.
I would drive in this league if I could enter as part of my LFS team R4R, and I would imagine Flip (a points scorer in OWRL F1) would also join. I don't see the point in having made up teams and made up skins.
I want to drive for my team, to increase its profile in the community, not drive for Team Fake sponsored by Tosco's.
I think you also make things too difficult for drivers without teams to enter. I recall practicing once with a few SGPA drivers and someone joined and asked for a setup. The SGPA drivers refused. Perhaps the drivers themselves could be a little more outgoing and helpful which may encourage other drivers to join.
Also, it's a little over regulated. Get the interest going, get the drivers and then introduce more structure.
totally understandable storm, but imo the reason that the set was not passed on was probs because it was the first race of the season and none of the drivers wanted their set leaked. when the season is over, i am sure anyone who asks for the setups will get them........just not right now
I just don't understand all this secret set stuff. In OWRL Div A (the FO8 series) if you join a server for practice you are literally bombarded with setups from Andy(GER), Iskuga, Relax and others. I gave my set out to other OWRL F1 drivers before the Westhill Rev race and I give my GFC sets out to anyone who asks on the practice server.
I think you will encourage more people to try the car and join your series if you are a little more helpful and open to strangers. What use is the setup to these people at the end of the season when they are not racing that particular track?
if you knew me storm you would know that i help anybody who asks for it.
league races are not the only time someone might race a certain combo.
there are loads of other setups out there that do the job, like in the ky national race, ATC The End and I used the KY GP wr set with a few tweeks to the tyre pressures (nothing else). surley if we can modify the tyres on a set, so can someone else, it's not like it's rocket science or anything. and the fact that there's 2 weeks between races means that there's loads of time for personal tweeks to any setups.
sharing setups (or not) isn't what is keeping people away from this league. at the start (before the league started), there was massive interest, but that just dissapeared.
Setups isn't the whole point. Someone comes on the server and gets blanked when asking for a set then he'll wobble round on RACE_S for a couple of laps then go. Maybe if people gave their set out and got talking to this someone they may interest them in the league, and they may have a couple of friends who like to race BF1. I'm just saying that drivers could do more I think.
But anyway, what do you think the problem is? Even though I am not driving in it I want this league (and all other enthusiastically organised leagues) to succeed, as I think they provide the best racing and increase driving standards. The risk here is that this series could wither and die if you carry on reproducing the 2005 USGP.
Storm, not attacking here but I'm just a little confused. When you sent me your set, yep, thanks, I really appreciate it but thing is, when you found out I was with ALDI in FPR for that race (which unfortunately, I didn't get to race) you said that it was a problem that I had the Vsport's set or your set so can you please clarify?
You can enter as your LFS team. R4R can enter as R4R. ATC compete as ATC. DR compete as DR. Moo (will) compete as Moo.
But what you can't do is use F1 replica skins or have real life decals unless they sponsor you. Being broadcast, unfortunatly we need to consider this.
It has been deregulated and the safety car will no longer be used. The rulebook has gone down by 2 pages. I will attempt to get more teams as much as possible.
he is learning, and it will get better. most leagues (in their first season) get restructured alot. he has shown that he is willing to listen to the drivers and we the drivers have also returned this by complying to the skins restrictions. the season should be running smoothly with more drivers by the half way point imo. and when the season ends duke will have a solid system in place for other class cars/leagues.
and where are these broadcasts? i would like to see them
Of course. All new leagues - be it sim or not or even if it ain't racing get mid season. Cough XFL cough.
Our target is that the Irish GP at Westhill will be ran with a full grid.
That's a goal of the SGPA. The Sim Grand Prix Series is the first league to take place under the SGPA banner. We aim to have something like a mini blue book that covers racing rules and so-on that would be common to all SGPA events so there will be some standards, which will mean less rules to learn, easier to digest rulebooks.
We will be very happy to let other leagues to use our blue book equivilent - possibly becoming a form of kite mark for a league that uses rules based on real life rules and that are going to be run competently. After all, what's a standard that isn't used?
Funny you should mention that - the commentary will be done tonight. Niall has been busy so hasn't been able to do the videocapture, but due to an SGPS technique it doesn't take more than 45 mins or so. And no, it doesn't involve stupid speeds. It involves an app
Well, we have an British GP (Aston National), an English GP (South City), a Welsh GP (Blackwood) and a European GP (Aston North). We had little choice, either that or a Scottish GP :P
You need to help me out with this. What legal issues, where you are distributing a file not for financial advantage, arise? Which legal jurisdiction does the internet come under? How many LFS users have been sued for using a replica skin in a race broadcast on LFS TV or similar? OLFSL does not have a problem with this? Nor OWRL, which has used LFS TV in the past?
Sorry to waste your time, but I do find this sort of thing terribly interesting.
That's a murky issue, but the videos will be hosted in the US (Google Video), and the league is based in the UK (and the servers for that matter).
I know of one case in a German league where a driver was sued by Ford for using a Ford logo on a skin. There's a thread on the SimFIA forum about that.
I don't run those leagues, so I can't comment on their policies. BTW, the SGPS videos are STCC style web TV shows on Google Video with commenators and stuff, not just a streaming MPR.
So, Duke, this is only getting to the US then? Why not UK too?. It makes more sense to get it to the UK as we're more into F1 .
Also, I'm a bit confused now, it was stated that the races would be live in some way, like LFS TV, however, that doesn't seem the case . So the way I look at it really is that I should be able to bring out my old Jordan skin because I mean, you really think you'd get sued for putting a vid on Google video? just seems a bit far fetched.
the videos will be hosted in the usa lep (google video) and they have a program (LFS TV i think) that more or less does all the editing (on the fly) so all they have to do is fraps the replay (LFS TV will look after camera angles and stuff) and then they upload it to google video in the U.S.
erm - sorry to but in here (although i'm finding this whole league very funny - getting deja vu...) but where abouts where other leagues such as the STCC (which seems to have done exactly what your doing), OFLFS etc got in to trouble over their skins? your not makig money out of it - why would they care?
Yeah, I know what you mean Jak, I don't understand it either. I mean, we're advertising for various companies and for absolutely nothing at all . I just don't get it.
instead of finding it funny, why don't you find your way to the application section and put your name down. you can't mock something until you try it imo.
