Now, how "cool" would that be? you can monitor your CPU's core temperature to make sure it is not stressed out from LFS. Have it in game options to have the gauge either monitor your LFS engine temp, or your computers.
+1 nice suggestion, even though i KNOW it's at a nice temp, i still worry if my machine is getting hot. Having this little feature would help put my mine at rest
why stop there? How about your engine's power output is directly related to your cpu's power? Those with Dual-core's will be much faster than someone on their nan's old laptop which would run like an old VW kombi van. Perhaps also you can only use slicks if you're running a 256mb video card, and the amount of ram determins how much fuel you can take!
So, I can have 1 GB of fuel, Half-Slicks, A fast car, and a very sexy looking car, made outta white acrylic plastic. And runs a more stable OS, so it cannot flip. Sounds like the car for me, especially on that last part about flipping...
Actually, InSim allows now making a floating button with text, but customizing the available gauges would also be fun.
I've recently tried to overclock my CPU, incrementing serial bus frequency in CMOS, and unexpectedly it worked! First time, LFS crashed in two minutes, the second time, 5 minutes in-game, PC switched off automatically due to reaching the temperature threshold. Hehe, had to switch back to normal frq.
Actually, i just have Speedfan floating on monitor #2, and even with a 40% overclock and more vCore the thing still barely breaks 50° with all the fans throttled up (you've got an engine going "RAWR!!!!" ffs, what difference is 3 17 dB fans gonna make!) and my cooling modded.

what about that temperature gauage only shows temperatur of the cars engine ??
why you want know tempperatur of your computer in middle of the game ??
Sitting stationary revving the engine would increase the car's temp a lot.. yet my box temp would remain about the same.. I don't see how this is either an improvement for gameplay or realistic
-1, the gauge already has a purpose, it's just not coded yet. No point spending time on a feature that would get replace, and will become increasingly irrelevant in the futhure as CPUs run cooler anyway.
This would be good idea, if it were super simple to make before the real temperature is simulated. But I guess it would take a quite a bit of coding to make it work and show the right tempereature etc. so -1
The biggest problem would be the motherboard support. Getting only 1 type of the sensors chip is easy. but there are many many different chips used for all the sensors. Motherboard Monitor developer gave up because of the lask of info from the MOBO manufacturers. Do you think LFS devs have time for that WHILE coding the best sim in the world??
i like the idea i know it is sorta pointless but its just a fun thing to have and for me and the way my pc runs it is extremly useful as my pc temp is by no means predictable or stable, it mite not improve lfs as such but it would be a cool function to have
The idea of a simulation is to take it away from the "game" and make it almost real. Having a CPU tempereature guage will simply make the Simulation more like a game with stupid features
