I agree the points system is stupid right now. I was hoping that Hamilton would win the championship without winning a race, because it would embarrass the FIA.
I'm starting to get annoyed with Ron Dennis. Every time his cars are off the pace he says they turned the engines down. Either he's lying, or he's not interested in racing any more, or he feels there's just no point racing any more unless you've got a dominant car.
Its true that we lost the close finishes that we used to have a years ago. Clearly Kimi and Alonso started to think in the next GP and not to push hard to avoid potential failures...
I think they were lapping around 1 sec slower than normal during the last 10 laps, somebody can check this?
There is no question, this is false. The track requires high aerodynamic efficiency and this results in less overtraking.
We're usually quite fair, applauding the winner who-ever it is, but I think the Tifosi have the 'worlds most dedicated' badge, although i'm not really sure what merits a worlds best fan need to have?
They might be right.
I think they said the other two trophies looked a bit pants in comparison, as in, they where a bit dinky. I think you missunderstood that one.
In 1982 Keke Rosberg won the championship with a single win at Detroit, USA (or was it Dallas? They raced both that year I think) anyway, that was with the old 9,6,4,3,2,1 system that greater favoured the winner. The current system was put in place to give greater support to the minnows by extending the points to 8th. Maybe more points do need to be given to the first three, but I think the current system is better than the old 9,6,4,3,2,1 system.
I don't. In combination with the long-life engine rules, finishing second is preferable now to driving the arse off the car and going for the win. I'd rather see 10-6-4 for the podium positions again, and maybe a point for the fastest lap, so a car that blows up occasionally but goes like shit off a shovel can win the championship.
I didnt misunderstand it at all.
James Allen said the trophy is beautiful, which it is ,he then went on to say it was the greatest trophy of all the GPs
He later joked about the smaller trophies.
Im keen to learn why and how the British marshalls are the worlds best?
Im not saying they are not but what do they do that others dont? [honest question]
Yes the fans were fair as always, standing on their feet as Kimi came across the line today.
Lewis is great but not the best YET imo
PS : I love your commentary on STCC maybe ITV should replace James Allen with you [not a joke by the way]
Their coverage is OK. However, JA is a useless commentator who starts randomly shouting and using americanisms. Maybe one of the Motorsport Mundial commentators might be better, or maybe it seems like it because they are commentating on very short highlights packages that are lumped in to a 30 minute programme.
Wrong. It's used by all broadcasters as that is provided by FOM, they have a single director and that TV feed goes to all countries who just do their own commentary/pit lane reporter/bits.
I agree. However, they could be done better. Maybe put some onboard cameras FACING the driver, not on the roll hoop?
Also, if there is a collison they should show that on-board with the replay. However, the director can currently only see 6 on board cameras which is stupid.
The British marshals have repeatedly won awards for their performance. They're the most organised, most professional and probably the most dedicated in the world. It's common for British marshals to volunteer or be called in to events in other countries, simply because they're so good.
They talked to the marshalls...how many other countries do that in their coverage?
Lewis Hamilton has made the best start of any rookie in the entire history of the sport, to say he 'might' become one of the best racers in F1 isnt exactly making a huge leap.
British fans clap for anyone that entertains them, its the same in football. They are not the best but they are definately the most unbiased in my opinion.
James (cockface) Allen said the trophy was one of the most impressive of the season, considering they usually get a glass plate I think thats a fully justified comment for a huge gold cup.
Anyway that coverage on ITV is crap, I hate the adverts because I always think it will cut back to a shot of the leader parked up in the gravel after having an accident, while we were busy seeing an advert for a Lexus. Bring back the BBC and Murray Walker!
Oh and you want biased coverage, just watch the Spanish stuff. Someone mentioned on here before that they actually wish other drivers to break down or crash so their sweet FA can win. (sweet fa joke intentional)
EDIT: Back on topic, I think we saw for the first time that Hamilton isnt perfect, he got on the back foot and just couldn't hook the car up properly. Great win by Kimi, although its the same old boring Ferrari overtaking in the pits
So you do you make out im wrong?
I said MANY channels, ive watched F1 on many channels [not all] hence why i wasnt in a position to say all.
I said it was not an ITV only graphic so i fail to see how my comment is wrong?
You're right. They repeatedly got awards because the panel was biased. Just to let you know how totally impartial I am when it comes to motorsport I don't support any British drivers just because they're British (not Coulthard, Hamilton, Hill, Herbert, Brundle etc). I recognise other qualities in them that don't have anything to do with where they were born (and I wish other people would too...).
edit: Also, as an aside, I don't consider myself British, I'm Scottish. The fact that Scotland is a country in Britain doesn't matter to me.
Read the thread about Ferrari sabotage and then decide who's biased and who's unbiased. You can decide that separating comments from information. Reach your own conclusion, but make it possibly an unbiased one...
I feel the same way. Scotland is a [b]Country[/u] Within the United Kingdom, that i see seperate from England. I support David Coulthard. NOT so much the other 3, LH JB and AD.
Hehe I dunno about that, for a start, I know a thing or two about F1... Clearly i'm not a replacement for James Allen.
The British marshall's have always had a reputation as being the best in the world, they have a very high standard of training as the MSA are extremely strict. Mind you I have seen them not quite live up to their reputation in the past.
Oh regarding the Spanish commentators and bias, well I have watched a Spanish broadcast and I can assure you they're very biased - humerously so in fact - I remember seeing an Orange arrows head for the gravel trap, with Pedro de la Rossa being one of the team drivers, and the commentator screamed "NOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo,,,,,,,,,,.............................. oh thats ok it's his team mate.". Funny . Anyway I have no problem with it, I just wish my own commentators biases wheren't so sickeningly frequent and over the top.
You really really really do not know me do you? I slag off my country so much so that I could probably be hung for high treason. For the record I don't support Mclaren, shock horror, they are British therefore I must masturbate over the shear thought of that boring depressing national anthem, playing for a boring team who have actually tried to make grey more exciting by polishing it. EDIT: Although I am aware of the fact that James Allen would like to have sex with any British driver who comes in the top 15, but he is an arsehole anyway, everyone knows that.
I simply pointed out that I don't really think you could call the ITV coverage biased, we actually missed Hamiltons only good performance of the weekend in qualifying watching a boring Finnish guy run wide.
Anyway I'm off to please myself sexually looking at a pound coin and listening to god save the queen. Oh and my favourite F1 team is Super Aguri, and my favourite sportsman is Valentino Rossi...OMFG THEY AINT BRITISH!!!11!!ONE!
Don't know if anyone else saw it but Hamilton was weaving down the straights, absolutley disgraceful display of bad driving confirming my suspisions he isn't a great driver (yet).
Until they get rid of the 'one move' rule you will see that all the time, I know in most American single seater series your not allowed to block a pass at all. Which obviously leads to more overtaking, which we are all in favour of. (The problem is they don't seem to enforce that rule in Champ Car, but tbh they don't bother to enforce most rules, including jump starts)
he was weaving down the straights to stop raikkonen getting in his slip stream, raikonnen was miles away so it wouldnt be any danger, what he did at the start was a bit naughty tho! he seems to swerve at people alot!
I saw him move over, return to line, move over and return to line, which is two moves and against the rules of most formula's, particularly the one that he races in.
I wouldn't say that doesnt make him great. Schumacher was allegedly great and he flounted every single rule in the book, including the page numbers, the copyright message, and the section titled "Gentlemen's toilets". I think that shows he has the potential to be dirty, or to tweak rules to his liking - but nothing I see in F1 convinces me that anything other than outright cheating is the norm.
Somehow, sadly, I think that has to be the no1 prerequisite to "greatness" in any field. The more momentum one's got the more rules they'll bend in their wake.
The top 3 race winningest (stupid word) F1 drivers in history (Michael Schumacher, Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna) have all been guilty of dirty driving/cheating in their careers. Schumacher in Jerez '97 and arguably, though I personally don't think it was cheating, in Australia '94. Senna in Japan '90 and Prost in Japan '89. It's a sad reality, but a reality nonetheless.
