Quote from Gunn :If LH starts from 10th he might very well snatch two or three positions when the lights go out and therefore could be on the tail of the leading pack within the first few laps.

That would be...

Im a Massa fan but i would expect Alonso to win this race.

The Mclarens should of had pole this weekend but with Lewis 10, this should be Alonsos victory.

out of the others The Real surpise would be from webber in the Red Bull in 6th.

and i would of expected both Renualts and Nico to get in the top 10..
Yeh Niko got held up with traffic on his best lap, so I think he will be climbing. Renault are catching up with BMW now, so I expect they are actually fueled for a long first stint. I think if LH survives lap 1 then he should cut through easily enough, until he gets to the BMW's, then it will be harder but maybe not as hard as Massa had it.

Alonso or Kimi will win I rekon, but you never know, which is a great thing to say about F1...I remember when it was already decided who would win, Schumacher in the Ferrari.
This is what i think the top 8 will be(not including reliabilty of course)

1.Alonso
2.Raikkonen
3.Massa
4.Heidfeld
5.Hamilton
6.Kubica
7.Kovalainen
8.Webber
So, what actually happened? All I see is that it was an issue with the gun. My father thinks than it caused the wheel to lean a little bit on the hub, which resulted in the rim grinding on the suspension, resulting in the rim seperating from the wheel or something to that effect.

Anyone actually know what happened at that moment?
Well when i was watching qualifying, i saw smoke coming from the inside of the right tyre then it blew off in spectatcular fashion driving hamilton into the barrier..
Well I know that Mclaren can't run very high camber, they had to adapt that area for the new Bridgestones. So a loose wheel is bound to rub on some part of the suspension or bodywork, thats what the smoke was.

Something I noticed watching it again...the marshalls took quite a while getting there considering it was such a big impact, it took 50 seconds to get one marshall there. It took over a minute for more to come, and they just strolled up. Compare that to the very large accident Milandri had in MotoGP quali when a marshall leaped over the airbags and fell on his arse trying to get to the accident.
Kimi, Alonso and Massa could use this cance to gain in on Lewis. I figure he'd finish in 4th or maybe 3rd... Just look back on Massa starting on 22nd and finishing 4th. That was incredible.

Yay, 200th post!
Quote from ATC Quicksilver :So my best guess is that the wheel moved and the tyre rubbed on the brakes or suspension which caused it to fly off the rim.

I'd say that sounds like the most likely scenario
Hoping for a good race later today, I think the ferrari's might grab a 1-2 going by alonso's face after qualifying => http://images.gpupdate.net/newsnew/79769.jpg .
Makes me think the Mclarens are on a light fuelload and Alonso is worried he will be passed in the pits again.

Looking forward to watching Hamilton fight his way up from 10th, and if we are lucky it might even rain according to some reports. (maybe we should do a raindance round 1.45CET to make sure it actually rains this time :sheep: )

Ditto that. I had just watched the whole Senna accident (live footage) and any time I see a driver go unattended for that long really chaps my ass.

Glad to hear he's cleared to race, time to see what the wonder-boy can really do.
Should rain under half an hour.
anyone else watching via sopcast? is there a channel than the starsports one?
Just a reminder that Murray Walker is commentating on BBC 5 Live
