What cars do you guys generally use? For regular racing, drifting, etc.

Well, as is said in someones sig around here:-

''A driver doesn't choose the car, the car chooses the driver''

It all depends on your driving style and what you feel suits it best. Having said that, I've been having a lot of fun lately driving the FOX and UFR.

Experiment
I tried the BF1, couldn't even get it moving, I guess I need to figure out how to drive formula 1. I like the XRT, RB4, and the FXR. Though obviously for races the faster one would be best.

And why is that?

The racing in the slower cars is much closer and much more fun so its quite the opposite IMO.
Just to be clear, did you mean the FXO rather than the FXR (the AWD race version of the FXO)? If you're talking about faster car classes (rather than relative performance of cars in a class, like TBO or GTR), there is an equal or greater level of skill required to drive the faster cars versus the slower ones.

Case in point, take your best times with each car and compare them with the hotlap charts. I bet you will find you're closer to the record times with the slower cars than you are with the faster ones.
Nope, I ment the FXR (FXO GTR), the one with 490bhp, 462 lbft

Did a lap each on blackwood. With XR GT I did 2:06.77, with XR GT Turbo I did 1:50.48

1:50.48 with the XRT is probably one of the lousiest times i've ever seen.
I only got the game very recently, leave me alone

If you know how to turn the car and drive in a straight line, anyone should be able to get at LEAST 1:35 - 1:40
Hey, it took me quite a while to first get under 1:50, back in the day! (Talking about XF GTI). Hell, probably a day or two just to get under 2 mins.

Ummm he is using the XRT, not the XFG. Lol
You guys are talking about Blackwood GP track right? If so then I really do need to improve.

Yes but he mentioned a time for the XRG as well, which is pretty comparable to the XFG.

I think they are

But hey, everybody has to start somewhere. I would recommend to download some wr replays from lfsworld.net. Watching these replays are a great way to learn

There was a time when Blackwood GP (and reverse and Rally-X) was all we had.

2 and a half years with LFS...... I just beat my PB a few minutes ago in the XRG at Blackwood. My PB that was beaten??????? 1:51! LOL
For a good car to learn with, you really can't beat the XFG, it's not a tricky car to learn, but you can work on mastering it forever.

I think the most pure car to learn with has to either be the XRG or the LX4, maybe the LX6. These cars will teach you so much, if you can drive the LX6 fast, you can drive anything really.

I really like learning the XRG though, I find it to be just perfectly balanced, XRG @ FE4 is just heaven for me.

The LX cars are pure and balanced too, just faster, and not quite as forgiving. The LX6 is beautifully balanced, but things just happen so fast, it can get out of hand. Great fun though

well, there isnt much choice really...
theres XRG (Hard to drift with a realistic setup)
XRT (my fav - good balance, average power)
FZ5 (speed drifters use that a lot... pretty tricky car...but it you can understand it's physics - you'll like it)
that's basic..
we also have RAC (undriveable car for me) LX4 and LX6 (too much power to weight...)
that about covers it...
Id start with XRT if I was you

Go for a training now. Lol I did 1.35.60 when i first managed to finish a lap with XRT in 2005 when i got a licence. Now i can do 1.24.xx.

XRT for me is purely a drift only car. I don't drift, but no matter how I set that car up, I can't keep the tail behind me. The FZ5 is always said to be a difficult car to drive and keep the tail behind (from a racing aspect), but I find it a very easy car to drive. XRT though, I'm always drifting, even though it's unintentional.
Well, i just took the XRG for three laps on BL1 since i noticed that i never actually raced that combo. My first lap from starting grid i ran 1:44, second lap 1:39, third lap 1:33. Obviously they are not the best times but i never raced that combo but still managed 17 seconds under 1:50. Plus i was using the default set up

Hmm, I guess I understand the turn limits of the car, and thats why im taking more caution on speed around turns.

The XRG is nice too, I'm just a big FI fan.

I can send you a couple setups that are actually pretty neutral. Hint, high coast lock on the diff, and a low power lock, if you wanna really do it, use a locked differential.

but you have to admit, when it the tail comes out - the XRT keeps things undramatic, and keeps you in control... it's perfectly balanced
