CTRA lap record replays
Hello guys.

I was wondering if there is a list of the lap records with replays at all so we can view them, if there isnt a way then this is something for my wishlist.

are there replays there Jak?

they (the records) are not actually correct on that page yet

Becky and I have been talking, and we plan to save and link the replays for lap records in the near future. Obviously we'll have to wipe all lap records first...
Oh no we are not!

*pandomine performance ensues...*
Speaking of records.. I have a question.

I currently hold 2 lap records, both FZR-GT2. But when I look on the records lists, they don't show up. I know my eyes are pretty bad but..

You must have earned them very recently, or you must have added your first and last name recently. First and last names are copied into the records database from your licence periodically, and only drivers with first and last names stored are listed in the results. I just ran the script to copy names over and your records are now showing
Yes there they are now. Splendid. Thanks for your help.
you stole my record was on the lap records chart for one race
records stats inaccuracies?
I know this is not the right thread, but its close enough

browsing the total record charts using the by name filter brings up the list and somthing struck me as a little odd, see pics below.

pic1 Fabio has 17 records but only 13 displayed?

pic 2 Teemu has 2 or 3 records?

Ugh.. this page is the bain of my life. Did you ever play that game at the seaside, with the little heads that pop up and you have to hit them with a mallet? That's this page, for me, with all the fun squeezed out of it

I've just re-run the script that copies first/last names into the records database. Now all of Fabio's records are listed and Teemu is showing two records on two entries.

The next version of the software, I'm assured, will store first/last names as the records are created or broken, so I don't have to repeatedly migrate the information from the main database to the records database. Alternatively, I could include the migration process as a function when someone first visits the page.. but that's a lot of unnecessary SQL... ugh...
can you not migrate the data in a timely fashion? for example run the script every day at 0.00am for example?

Are you volunteering?

Riiiight.. the database now updates itself upto once every hour. The last update should be displayed at the top of the page. Please let me know if you continue to see errors.
I hope you dont think Im trying to add to your workload Sam, I just like to help report the probs when i see any.

Keep up the stella work UKTC

Not at all! I want the content to be correct. The SQL to pull the information is really basic stuff.. I'm utterly baffled by it, tbh! LOL!

SD- sm1s in teh ctra's steelin ur recrds

I've been keeping an eye on the page, and it seems to be behaving pretty well now. The records are at most 30 minutes out of date. It's a much more popular page than I'd thought it was. At the bottom of the pages you can see "Track: n : x". This ratio resets itself periodically, but it shows ratio of database calls (page views, "n") to database refreshes ("x").

now that made me laugh

talking about records what about record abuse?

for example I didnt have to look too hard to find a CTRA record over 3 seconds faster than the LFS WR(SO3/UF1/45s530), is there any way to stop this? I think being able to look at a the replay where the record was set, would be of great benifit to those wanting to learn good lines ect, and would also put an end to cheating for time.

SD.

EDIT: I am not saying this player was cheating on purpose, I havn't seen the replay, It was just the first one I spotted that looked too fast.
Yes we do want the validation of a replay. I think on the whole we dont suffer cutting too much any more (cant imagine why!? ) but wind could on ocassion be beneficial, and some WR's are just plain slow in all honesty. It could also be accidental, such as the result of an accident - in this case it's more likely a push from a TBO.

Having access to the replay would help greatly, and it is something we are keen to implement. However it's quite a major thing to do as the record database is written out long before the replay is saved, so this isn't going to happen before phase 2.

Right now, I don't think cutting is the problem. I think speed hacking is the problem. So far, I think we've only banned 3 or 4 people from the CTRA for speed hacking (either on CTRA servers or elsewhere.. I'll accept any MPR as 100% justification for a lifetime ban from CTRA servers when a player is seen speed hacking) but being able to tally MPRs to records is an essential imminent CTRA feature.
Awesome!

Its exactly what I wanted to see but didn't want to bring this up, was just going to watch the replays myself and see.

Thanks. Can't wait hehehe.
