To preface this post, the admins would like to say that this was an extraordinarily difficult race for which to produce fair and logical standings, given the nature of LFS, the way it handles disconnects, and the fact that it doesn't provide us with total running time for every finisher. As a result, the results were very, very confusing, and we've done our best to puzzle them out. We realise that no matter how we cut it, someone is going to be upset over these standings, so we just had to bite the bullet and post them. Secondly due to the server crash the race was shortened to a 3 hour race and all cars lapped in the previous hour restart the race unlapped.

Here is the full explanation for the route we took in order to get the results above:
Team #26, Cyber Racing, were the leaders at the end of lap 100, the time of the race finish. They crossed the line several seconds after time had expired, meaning that they should have been credited with 100 laps completed. However, since they had a disconnect earlier in the race, they were not shown as the leader and thus had to go around for another lap, lap 101.
This extra circuit puts them a lap ahead of the other cars on the lead lap, which is clearly unfair. While they were indeed forced by LFS to run another lap, we feel that as they completed the specified race distance with 100 laps completed, they should get credit for 100 laps. Period.
So, before penalties, the top 5 finishing order is like so:
1. #26 Cyber Racing (100 laps)
2. #08 CoRe Racing #2 (100 laps)
3. #18 ConeDodgers FZR (100 laps)
4. #23 CoRe Racing #1 (99 laps)
5. #01 LOTF #1 (99 laps)
However, post-race objections from both teams resulted in 1-lap penalties for #26 Cyber and #18 ConeDodgers. In the IGTC, 1-lap penalties demote the car in question to the head of the lap behind their finishing lap. Therefore, after the 1 lap penalties, the final top-5 running order is as follows:
1. #08 CoRe Racing #2 (100 laps)
2. #26 Cyber Racing (99 laps) [-1 lap]
3. #18 ConeDodgers FZR (99 laps) [-1 lap]
4. #23 CoRe Racing #1 (99 laps)
5. #01 LOTF #1 (99 laps)
Certain improvements and clarifications will be made to the rules for the next round in order to circumvent some of the confusion surrounding this round's results.
First, the 1-lap penalties for successful post-race objections will be replaced by a tail-end-of-the-current-lap penalty, which simply seems clearer and accomplishes the same effect.
Second, rules will be written for cases of force majeure (aka catastrophic server failure) so that we have a process by which to act when such things do happen. To eliminate confusion, from now on races that experience a server failure will be re-started with the time remaining rounded to the nearest hour. In other words, if the server crashes 5 minutes after the start of the race, the race will be restarted with 4 hours to go. If it crashes 45 minutes after the start of the race, it will be restarted with 3 hours to go. In the case of a server failure in the closing 30 mins of the race there will be no restart. Furthermore, in the future all league admins and marshals will have automatic replay saving engaged in order to accurately sort out the restart order and determine how many laps teams completed prior to the crash.
Third, rules for race re-entry after a disconnect will be tightened. These rules are still under discussion at the moment.
Fourth, rules for re-assuming position after spinning under a SC period will be clarified and tightened as discussed in the objections thread.
Various other small changes will be made to the rules as well, based on complaints and issues raised by Round 6.
Thanks for bearing with us through these issues and growing pains and for understanding the difficult and strange circumstances under which these results had to be calculated. Please note that these results are final and NOT negotiable.
Regards,
IGTC Administration
