Wheel for LFS and Forza2? Or seperate axises on the 360 controller?
I used to play LFS with a Logitech Dualshock Pro. When I started playing Forza2, with it's different controller layout (triggers are gas and brake instead of analog stick), it became pretty much impossible to get myself able to have both layouts as second nature.

I tried to figure out how to get the wired Xbox 360 controller working with LFS in the same way, but the triggers are on one axis, making trail braking impossible. (Side note: if anyone knows how to get them on separate axises, could you please tell me? There's really not much space in a dorm to keep a wheel anyway, so I'd rather just use the 360 controller the same way I do with Forza2. XBCD+ never seemed to work at all).

I don't want to buy two different wheels for these games, as I hardly would have enough space to have ONE in this dorm room, so is there one wheel that will work competently with both games?
Don't bother with Forza, stick with LFS.

I have Forza 2 on my X360, and it rocks, what's so bad with it? It's best driving game ON XBOX 360. Alot of cars, upgrading etc. I think it's very cool game, offcourse that's only my thought.

And mine too. And I can actually trail brake without having a hugetastic wheel setup. LFS apparently can't do that.

Forbin - Thanks for bumping my thread at least...
Forza: Oooh! Look at the pretty cars! Hey look, I'm driving a pixelated and poorly simulated representation of a real car! GAH! BLOOM! MY EYES!

LFS: Okay, focus now. 10 laps to go, just enough fuel, tires are getting a little thin, first place is just 2 seconds ahead. Can I make it? Concentrate... Brake, don't lock em, smooth on the power...

Totally different goals, totally different experiences, and totally different markets. Whatever floats your boat I guess. I'll take the thrill of competition over flashiness anyday though.

Seriously, thanks for your gaming elitism. Now give it a rest if you don't actually have any help for me. I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to play more than one game in a genre.

That wheel doesn't work with PC's, so why would I buy it?
Then I guess you'll just have to get a G25 and forget Forza.
its simple to clearify...

lfs : lots of fun for a short period of time...

forza : tons of cars , ok graphics... years of fun....

but meh thats my opinion

back on topic = why not make a notepad file with all the statistics that you need to change when moving your wheel from xbox to pc and vice versa ??

Problem solved, I figured out how to get the XBCD+ drivers working, with the axis split. No wheel for me, at least not until I'm done with college and actually have space for it.

What? I don't have a wheel, I was trying to find one that that does work with both systems.

However, I "mostly" have the Xbox360 controller working.

Only thing now is that it's too sensitive. The steering goes full lock well before the actual analog stick is at the end of it's range of motion, and I don't even know what I should be changing to fix this.

Also, I disagree. Both have been fun for me for more than a short time, they're just different games with different goals.
Forbin what's your problem with Forza 2? The devs killed your dog?

Forza 2 was also based on simulation, just that it has real cars and upgrades dosen't make it NFS, rite? So if LFS introduced some aero and engine upgrades ur gonna flame it as well?

forza...years of fun?

i'm usually not one to get into these kinds of arguments, but when you say LFS is fun for a "short period of time" and forza is "years of fun", i mean come on. i'd put money down right now that i'll be playing LFS longer than you'll be playing forza.

forza has better graphics and more cars, but there is no way that it is "years of fun". forza 3 will be out next year and you won't even remember forza 2.

Those should be the other way around. At least I feel like it, I hardly could imagine playing Forza for the next 4 years like I've been playing LFS. It's a nice game, with some nice cars and semi-arcade physics, but it's missing way too much to be anything near as lovely as LFS.

Same reason everyone else here hates Forza and most other so-called racing "sims". It's designed, first and foremost, as a screenshot generator, to look pretty and flashy to the lowest common denominator. This makes great business sense, but it also makes for a horrible sim.

That doesn't mean a sim can't look good. However, it does mean that the graphics should be tasteful, not gaudy, and the physics should be the top priority.
LFS has more realistic graphics then Forza 2.
Pik_d I am about to try the same thing, any pointers to get the MS wheel working in lfs smoothly?

Plus i have to agree that forza 2 is a great sim for the 360 and it is a shame that some of the blatant fanboy comments tarnish the IQ of this otherwise great community. Seriously forbin have u actually played forza 2? Yes it is pretty as a current gen console game should be but underneath the eye candy lies a great physcis engine that is in the same league as LFS. I persoanlly have the same racing experiences in forza 2 as lfs, from great physics, nail biting endurance races and perfecting my racing technique.

At the end of the day you don't look like a tool if you like other race sims. But you do if act like an uninformed fanboy.
I see, so I'm not allowed to voice my opinion without being called a fanboy or an idiot? You will notice I never resorted to personal attacks (and will continue to avoid such actions), yet you seem to feel they are necessary. Care to explain why?

I challenge you to look at any Forza 2 video on YouTube and tell me the physics look at all realistic or even comparable to LFS. The cars on rails the entire time, just like Forza 1, and just like Gran Turismo (both of which I have played). The physics are better than Gran Turismo, but only slightly.

Pure, realistic vehicle handling in a racing game is simply against the ethos of console gaming.

The wireless Xbox 360 wheel? I wasn't even aware that you could get it hooked up to a PC. If you mean some older wheel, I don't know either.

I don't have any racing wheel, so I'm sorry to say that I can't be of any help.

Forbin, I'm curious, have you played Forza 2? mrnemesis asked you, but you didn't answer. Your experience seems to come from looking at videos. Having played it, I can assure you that the cars are not "on rails" the whole time. You can definitely feel the difference from one car to the next (including drive train and engine placement differences), if that doesn't indicate realism, I don't know what does. Why don't you watch this trailer and see what you think: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/12820.html

In response to your challenge, I challenge you to find a friend who has Forza 2, play it for a while, and tell us that it's not fun.
i see no reason why the x360 wheel wouldn't work using the wireless gaming adaptor that is required for the regular wireless xbox controller to work in windows. that said, i haven't tried it.

and as for forza 2 cars being on rails, they absolutely are not. the unmodified cars handle like they should, and when you apply suspension and aero mods, then they handle better (if they are tuned correctly).

i do agree that forza 2 is more "arcady" than lfs, but only slightly more so, and that feel is greatly reduced when using the wheels and pedals, to which the same could be said for those racing in LFS with gamepads/keyboard.

regardless of what car you are using, you have to use proper driving techniques to achieve fast times. basically, you have to drive like you do in LFS, and if you try driving like you do in GT4, then you will not make the turn.

you are very much entitled to your opinion, but when you spout off about what you know nothing about, you just lose credibility.

i hope that you don't take that as a personal attack, because it is not meant as such.

Hmm, I had no idea such a combination was possible. I have one wireless and one wired 360 controller, so I just used the wired one with my computer.

My only thought after that is the wireless wheel would need drivers to work in Windows, are any such drivers available?
