What made you think posting this as a new thread is a good idea? (Especially if it's already answered in the main thread)
I suspect this was a user error? :-Þ
Real Moose
You don't have real Moose in Europe anyway!! You just have big deer and they might fit.
I just wanted to upset our viewers from Hong Kong and ditched round 8...

Actually there's a more complete answer in the launch thread a few posts down.
Dont see a thread just your sig??
Ah now i see under movies...pff

The launch mail from the stcc forum went directly into my spam folder, both! Maybe the fact there were 2 or some word inside (maybe "pleasure"?) let my mail program do this. Lucky enough i saw a quick stcc appearing and disappearing and went to the folder. Now enjoy watching
I cant deny it was spam, I sent 1700 emails out...

Or maybe there are some new features that "enlarge" the viewing enjoyment.
Nah, it was probably all my spelling errors, so your email client figured I was trying to evade spam filter word searching and binned me !
hey becky where can i get the STCC music? it sounds great ... i want MP3 !!!! :singer::rock_band:headbang:
lol. It was composed especially for us by Aaron Frensley, who's name I just realised I forgot to put in the credits (maybe I wont tell him about this video! lol).

Aaron is a very talented musician who does music for computer games, you can hear more of his work on Binary Zoo games: www.binaryzoo.com

Great production, Becky! Well done! I noticed the changes in the filming (and wondered how you did some of the camera movements) before you mentioned Xcam, and it's very nice. Looks very realistic! I missed in-car cams, though, so it was good to hear that you have a plugin in development that will handle them. Xstart sounds great, too!

Do you plan to eventually release these new addons publicly? If so, I can't wait for them.

Oh, just one thing about the footage: you need a way to filter those pops out of your comments track. A compressor would help but it'd be better to do it during the take by using an anti-pop screen (you could even make one yourself for only a few pounds).
Thank you.

I have a really cheap microphone and I really need something at least remotely acceptable before I worry about putting foam on it, I have a habbit of getting a bit over-excited, sometimes to the point of astmatic, so even with a screen there isn't much my microphone can do. If I remember to hold it in the right place then it's not so bad ... but that goes out the window when the decibels go soaring.

The software is very specific to the STCC, i'm not even sure it would do a good job on non-TBO cars, it relies on driver names being entered in a particular way (according to STCC regs) and the safety car has to have a specific name too, and the SC board reacts provided the SC is driven and run to STCC regs...

It's most likely the software would fall over or generate lots of 'customer feedback' if it was launched publicly.

There's also the issue of the TV deal, Simbin are currently trying to develop something like this and i'm not about to put it in their hands as they are rival bidder for 1 of the TV slots i'm aiming for. Having a broadcasting technology lead over everyone else gives us a little more leverage to try and secure any deals available, and that's something we need right now both in terms of 'well its about time we got something back' and also in terms of getting the wider audience and recognition I feel the series deserves.

It's possible that in the coming year we may 'duplicate' the STCC with a new format though.

EDIT: It's also worth mentioning that there are alternative tools that still do a very good job. I dont think any are yet migrated to patch X, but you can still broadcast LFS in a reasonable way without blagging our tools .

I was thinking about something like this that would work with any microphone.

I understand. Oh well... And Xstart?

That would be great. Good luck, with that!

Yep been trying it its LFS tvdirector. It can be run in X with the help of the insim 3-->4 gateway. It also misses the option to manually override the autocam switch so as a result can leave a battle at a moment you dont wish it would. But its nice. Still want it to improve and come with an X version
I loved every second of the video Becky! Well done The guys at work want to watch the rest of the video's and are going to keep watching (so they say =P)
Holy ____. This DL went at 1.2 Mb's the whole thing.
i´m sure the vid is very very good, even if i´ve not seen it yet.
but talking about a tv-slot:

lately i was racing in the SHAC (a german cup for gtr cars)
and the races has been streamed live at www.game-tv.com

these guys already showed the last 24h race and will show a lot
of other league races in the near future.

sure, the quality is not that good, but its live, live live.

i loved it and so does everyone who watched it, yet.

its just simple in-game switching from car to car and from view
to view. the commentary is good and funny.

i think becky should call these guys

edit: pm me, if you need a first contact person

edit: link was wrong
Also Becky, if you need help uploading to Goo-Vid, I'd be willing to help.
I am just thinking...
Will the fact that LFS has no real tracks be a problem when trying to get STCC in live TV broadcasts?? My guess is that TV stations would like to see real tracks??? But of curse this is just pure speculations...
I see this as one of LFS' key strengths, for sim racing to reach a wider audience the sport needs to stand up on it's own and it needs a major series that is comfortable with itself and has it's own uniqueness.

Any sim racing series that tries to reach spectators as a fake-BTCC or fake-F1 will only ever be just a game in the eyes of the audience. To reach a spectator outside of sim racing the sport needs to stand up on it's own merit and that is exactly the tools that LFS gives us.

With the STCC spectators dont get pretend world touring cars, or pretend F1. They get the sport of sim racing.
The reason for my speculation is first hand experience. I am running lfsnorway.net and I asked the producer of the norwegian version of Top Gear if he would be interested in inviting Tommy Rustad (tester in the norwegian "Top Gear"/rally cross driver/STCC driver), but the answer was that if we could do the thing on Rudskogen (norwegian track) it would be interesting. The concept was to invite some talented Norwegian sim drivers and test them in LFS and in real life against Tommy Rustad. But I guess it's all about how you sell the thing... real life tracks and cars could be important if we are talking sponsorship??? But only time will tell...

It would be cool if you get a deal with a tv station I think its the future. In 10 years from now it will be fairly common (I hope).
For a programme such as that I can see how they'd want real life comparisons, it's because they're a motoring orientated show. What i'm trying to do with the STCC is present sim racing as a sport in its own right and from that perspective the lack of real world associations is actually a huge bonus. There's more to it than i'm saying because I dont want to reveal one of our new features for next season just yet, but the problem with 'real cars' is the real sponsors on them and the real performance values, this is actually a hinderance to the sport in terms of reaching audiences.
