Wow, just stumbled across this thread by accident! Thanks for all this work you've done!! I had no clue that people were even able/allowed to do this to LFS, very cool.
You might be surprised to know that Fern Bay is still coming along... I've had some free time so I thought I'd get back into it again. To give an estimate I'd say the track is about 75% done. Fairly happy with things so far. Unseen's been helping out with ads (FB is mostly ads) and I'm very grateful for that. Umm, yeah. Check out the screenshots below and tell us what you think. Some of the textures in the shots are still a bit WIPy, but you get the idea..
The grasses aren't final, but there are other grass textures which are less green and more dried/sandy etc. I need to find a balance where it all works, and see if I can get some nice blends happening.
I can't really say I'm in the middle of moving house, which is taking up all my time and probably will for the next few days atleast. Can't really see the re-texturing taking much longer than 2 weeks though (but I have been wrong before). Maybe I can leave out the Rallyx textures this time around, and vow to get back to them at a later time.
Cool stuff. I've always felt FE was way behind the current batch of tracks on quality. The palms, trees and things like that look awful at the moment also, I hope you can have a poke at them before releasing the update. Though if you can't, this still looks great.
Wow, looks great, i might even like Fern Bay after this ..
Can you please point me to the links of all your latest tracks, i want to download them all cause i have a good system for them finaly.. (your BL and WE was stuttering on my old pc)..
The Fern Bay thing is very start/stop for me right now. Due in part to semi crowded living conditions, the fact I'm trying to learn ZBrush (organic 3D modelling app), and also I've started designing t-shirts for a clothing label my girlfriend and I are thinking of starting up. I'm still doing bits and pieces of FB, but I'm not really all that focused on LFS to be honest, but it's getting there.
Original idea was to wait until patch Y to see what changes Eric would bring to the sim, but of course that could be anytime. My main problem is that I kind of feel sometimes I've already put enough personal energy into the game, which makes working up inspiration a little difficult- as I think it's a pretty dumb idea in general to commit so much time and effort to an alpha product.
Having said that, I'd certainly jump at the possibility of being able to work as an assistant to Eric, in the spirit of an internship or something like that. I'd also be very happy working in any kind of volunteer capacity.
Anyway, this modding process has limits. I feel I'm not really learning anything anymore, which is probably a major demotivating factor. (not that I don't have a hell of a lot to learn about computer graphics in general).
