I'll get the link later, but there was an interesting point on the Pistonheads.com, after a T1 article they had.

A guy there has a 300 HP Ariel Atom, and the thing is mental. Its so much faster than Porsches, Ferraris, and what-not, all his track-days are spent passing slower cars. He claimed in a year of 7 (5-9?) trackdays, he only had a total of THREE clear laps not slowed by traffic.

Now if you are in a Caparo, something that could leave Atoms for dead, imagine the frustration of driving it, against anything less than LMP cars.

You're right, you're not forced to wear a race suit at track days, but it is recomnded, and most cource have saftey gear that you can hire out.

Well thats Carism, cos you are using Herbie as a Stereotype. And it offends me. I can see why people don't like him, but they end up just talking about his nose... Which means they don't have a basis on dis-liking him at all.. Which will bring me to Jealousy. Matt Neal has nothing. Plato has everything.

You just know topgear will have the better review, eventually :X. And it can go round the track .

Jason Plato and Tiff Needell are my favourite car show TV presenters because they can actaully drive. Clarkson can't drive for shit.

Whenever they've driven racing cars they've worn fireproof clothing, the exception to this rule I suppose would be the Aston that May drove round Europe, then again I think a lightly tuned production engine in a racing car is far less likely to spontaneously combust than a purpose built racing engine in a road legal sportsracing car. They normally wear fireproof overalls when they drive Radicals and the like to the limit anyway.

There both failed racing drivers who have turned to be celebrities,
neither has any real presenting talent and as for there racing careers, they're best remembered for BTCC need I say more (and Tiff was pretty mediocre even in that)?

As for Clarkson, well he's an entertainer, Top Gear is entertainment, if I want to know what a car is like I read Autocar. Fifth Gear is rather rubbish IMO and I never watch it mainly because it can't decide what it wants to be, it used to be serious, and really really dry with Tiff going on about how he's the dogs bollocks and trying to drive cars seriously. The last time I watched it it mainly consisted of some dumb ape siting around in the Ace Cafe making silly comments and then really dull Top Gear style silly challenges, like a car vs RC race, that's presented so boringly then at the end they usually smash something up and get Quentin Wilson to do one of his crappy safety speaches, better than getting him started on importing cars though

Well.. Tiff raced just about anything on wheels. Not always having good material. I think he was teammate with Derek Bell in some Group C car. I'd say Tiff's career is above average and he seems to be quite naturaly talented; he'll be fast and on / above the limit (without crashing..) pretty quickly. I don't know any tv presenter that can drive like him!

The crappyness of Clarkson was quite apparent in that (admittedly poor) Volkswagen.. Ham fisted/footed ^2

3rd is the 2nd loser. Clarkson isn't a racing driver, he's a phenomenal Automotive Journalist, which is why they have the stig for the racing.

There's a reason the stig doesn't speak; driver's don't make entertaining presenters. Tiff tries to hard to do both and fails.

Ahh, your all like Clarkson, just random ranting xD Fifth gear might be rubbish when compared to Top gear, but I dont think, atleast I havent seen a car show, nearly as good as those two.. Fifth gear is entertaining in a way, but it sure does fall flat on its face quite alot... But still, mildly entertaining.. The last season tough pretty much is pure childish rubbish.. I dont think Plato deserves flaming, but then again, I have only seen him if 5th gear .. so whatever The reason I post is, I just cant take this attitude, when people so easily look down on others, I still think, all the persons discussed in this thread, do a pretty good job.... end of story...
