The online racing simulator
Quote from mrodgers :I'll definitely have to disagree with your points. The track has nothing to do with it. It's the racers who cut and the racer's fault that the experience of the track that ruins it. Of course, the obligatory "better damage" will suffice in fixing the racers. No need to touch the track

True, to some extent. I really like the rest of the track, and the chicane in itself isn't "bad" either, but the cutting really does ruin the track experience, because it so glaringly shows the shortcomings of LFS' current damage model.

So, I partially agree, the track itself isn't the main problem, but that doesn't change that it's dragged down a whole lot just by the chicane. However, due to KYGP being a fictional track, we very well have the choice to actually fix or mask these shortcomings, like done on many other LFS tracks. There are many places where you'd never put tyre stacks in real life, both because of safety concerns and the required insanity of cutting there in the first place, but we do have them in LFS to make the taken lines more realistic. Why not on KYGP too? That's why I think it is partially the track that is at fault here, because similar situations are solved better on other tracks.
the developers should just make s3 open source and be done with it, then they won't have to constantly make patches/upgrades, people can make new cars and new tracks if they want and share them. it would make the developers jobs much easier!

Then LFS would become another rFactor. I like rF, but I hate it how the community and files are so unorganized. In my opinion we dont need the ability to heavily modify LFS to make this game good. In fact, sometimes heavy modding can get really annoying.

The only thing I'm asking right now is to add new tracks and track environments (and stock cars and more ovals ). But right now, i'm kinda bored with the current environments. There need to be more diversity in order to bring in more people.
then don't pay any attention to the modding like I do in rfactor...just leave the game as is and be happy with it...no one forces anyone to get into the modding...

I think at the very least they should allow user added tracks...I don't really care about cars...the ones that come with the game are fine.

the best reason for opening it up to modding is to stop threads like this from driving the developers crazy of complaints of slowly added new content...that way the developers can focus on the more important stuff in patches like physics, graphics, sound, and bugs...etc.
In some way that sounds good.

BUT, SCAVIER did announced (sp?) many times development of the LFS.
Search RSC forum and there's alot to read if you are new(ish).

Best regards.
i dont think they pay much attention to this stuff

Can't say I'd blame them, seeing most people are just shooting [#].

And that's a good thing.

If you meant the constant moaning and whining that starts always 3 or 4 months after a new patch with "this stuff".
There you go, you got your update , now shut it Pioneer and lets get this thread closed
Quote from mcintyrej :How fast do you want 3 people to work?

There's been subtle hints of things coming out for christmas everywhere - just sit tight, LFS isn't dying.

you make a good qoute here and it is that there is only 3 people developing it, a fan base with skills to contribute but they wont embrase it, really LFS's development could be alot faster , if they took on a few volunteers

Yes, it might go quicker with more people. Or it might go slower. Or it might lose it's focus.

But it doesn't matter, because it's not going to happen.

with the current development pace theres a good chance that leo will help out as the 4th dev before s3 hits the shelves

Hey, they could do like the craftsmen of yore and pass the family business along from generation to generation. Our great grand-children could be playing LFS S3 Alpha, programmed by Scawen Roberts II.
You're really "on" tonight aren't you?
actually i thought of this one about a week ago when the word was first posted but figured practically no one here would get it ... but now ive seen that tweak took my place in the top10 and that ajp is right on my toes so i decided i need this post
