ISI is pleased to release a sample of our drifting project as a Christmas gift to the rFactor community. Enjoy!

its awsome! worth a try. the car feels and looks very realistic. made by ISI themselves

If you like blue mushrooms that glow red at dark
From the comments:
"The whole drift fad is kind of gay personally. Not sure the core rFactor fan base cares about drifting but this sort of add-on could defiantly attract the masses and help fund rF2. We must all thank ISI for that. "

Enjoy developin ur gamez for driftrz lol.
The videos are hilarious. Props to maintaining realism levels high by including mirrored decals.
:ices_rofl its rather silly, don't know why ISI spend to much time on a drift addon.

not a drift fan but LFS 1 ISI 0
That stupid useless site made my Firefox crash

Stop being such an LFS punk....

ISI have been making a lot of little addons for the community. Some were even intended to be private (eg the Lexus one). I doubt this took them much 'time' either.

Still kind of a lame gift IMO.

LOL well I'm a rfactor user anyways and was very disappointed with the addon(just like Panoz) when they should of converted & updated tracks from F1C to rF which Euroring was cool tho. but it was a lame gift! while I think they should of updated physics and whatever or rF2 demo lol

Adding simple turbo system to engine would not be too big of task and they still don't do it, instead they make drift mod, cars with probably would have turbo IRL, but as rF does not have such model, cars do have engines with very odd characteristics as they think they can emulate turbo by setting low end torque just lower
Bonus, at least the drift community have somewhere else to go now, no excuse for them to stick with LFS now

+1

But they'll come back after realising how bad rF is?

Me either, but rF pales in comparison to LFS, just my opinion too
I dont like rTractor at the best of times, but I thought I'd download the mod to have a laugh. It was complete and utter shite.

Only mod I'm waiting for is the Touring Car Legends. Although it's been in development for god knows how long, it does look pretty good as far as rTractor goes.
Like I said in the other thread it's easy to drift but god only knows what's go on with the physics the more I drive the more I just get the gut feeling that quite a few laws of physics have been broken to make this mod.

What it does give us though is a demonstration of how the UI is very customisable and could be made much better to use (or worse in this case) and finally an ISI mod that does damage.

The Skyline thing did sound gorgous though and the thought of re-doing the physics for a naturally aspirated engine with a suspension setup from planet earth for 'gripping' does seem very tempting even if you're stuck with the silly body kit

Are you kidding? Normal driver (yes, even if he drives sideways, is a normal driver) would never trade beautiful physics and challenging combos to that "look at meh, I can has doriftzors with one button press" in rFactor

I had to watch the video (not even try it) to see how wrong rF really is...

everything can be judged from looking at the car movement, if it's unnatural - physics laws are broken...

Aaaactually - rfactorcentral is a pretty well-made site all in all. I agree it's useless though if you don't own rFactor.
hm could anyone please attach the tyre files ? just for a good laugh

It takes ages to load and for some reason seems to grind every computer I've got to a halt whilst it's loading. I've tried Firefox, Opera, Safari and IE on XP, Vista and Os X. None of them load quickly and smoothly.
if rfactor was such a good sim, they wouldnt need to make a mod specifically for drifitng and you'd just be able to use any of the cars in the game...

Very valid comment, the better mods already allow more convincing drifting than this mod anyway

That's odd - never experienced any of that with that site on any of my machines and I frequently browse it just to see what mods people make. For a community-driven effort I'd say it's super.

EDIT:
The only thing I can fault it with is that it's a table-based layout, hence it could theoretically (or in your case, practically) cause delays in rendering. But hey - as I said, it was made for free by a fan, so gotta respect that.
If it helps sell and fund future developments... then its legit imo. The last tyre file I saw from this mod was really bad, but then again the flaws in the tyre model mean that you simply have to make a choice of having a tyre that somewhat works within racing slip angles and ratios or having tyres that work somewhat at extreme slip angles and ratios.

The more money devs make, the more time they can spend coding new stuff for future releases.. I hope they sell.. I mean that means the Rice Doriftorz who think FnF movies are 'hawt' are actually good for us simracers; they help fund future sims!
Yes but you and BuddhaBing have made tires that can drift without being unrealisitic in normal racing. Even I can see that the tire curve in the drift mod looks nothing like any other tire curve I've seen, when you compare it to other tire curves you can see that the peak is about where the cliff begins in most mods.

Curve is quite small part of tires, imo.

What else is there, even looking through the tbc guide on RSC I'm still at a loss to what else there is that's important. I've been using the Corvette tbc file with Neil's F3k curve and a grip co-efficient of 1.8 IIRC with correct widths and radius for my little project car. Is there much else I need to look at in the tires to get vaguely realistic slicks (assuming I'm not bothered about heat and wear atm)?
