But you still cant say that you have 10ghz processor.
Anyways, nice rig, how much it cost?
Quote from ElProempie :Yes.. but overall i've got 10 GHz.

You haven't. Separate cores work parallel, not in series. I also haven't got 4,2 Ghz, but 2* 2,1.
Quote from ElProempie :Yes.. but overall i've got 10 GHz.

You don't, thats marketing for you. You have 2.66Ghz available while playing LFS - because LFS is programmed to use only 1 core.
LFS is programmed to use 1 core very lets just say extremly. Yes it does drop to 20fps with a 2.66 ghz processor and 19ai lol.
well, you have 20ghz as you have two cpu's according to your spec.

but anyway i call bullshit
'You don't have 10 GHz but 4 2 GHz cores' 'Yeah but i still have 10 GHz' - LOOOOOOOOOOL

Anywho, here's mine:

Abit AB9 QuadGT
Celeron 420 at 2,4 GHz (need to get a better cooler than that BOX crap)
2 gigs of Cellshock DDR2 1GHz memory (CAS 5)
7900 GTO
320 gig WD SATA and 120 IDE Maxtor (need to change that too)
DVD-ROM and DVD-RW, both hardly used
All of that powered by a 420 W Tagan (sadly with no PCIe plugs, that's the only problem with this PSU).

BS? The other day there were a bunch of Dell Precisions with dual Quad-core Xeon X5355s IIRC (8x2.66ghz) going on ebay. They came with 'only' 4GB ram, and a 15k rpm HDD. They roughly sold for around £700. That's about £300 less than your rig was isn't it Andy?

I think he was referring to the 20 Ghz as the bullshit - not the fact that he had 2 quad-core processors.

Yer possibly. Although of course it's not true to say you have a 20Ghz CPU or whatever, it could be said that for applications that support multithreading, and there are more and more of those about these days, he does have X amount of processing power available.

Agreed. I'm just pointing out what he was saying. If you have two cores, you can get twice as much stuff done in the same amount of time IF the software takes advantage of it, which I guess does technically mean your processor (note singular) runs at 2x2Ghz or 4Ghz. It's just that the way he stated it made it sound like he had each processor clocked at 10 Ghz. We all know what he meant - it's just nitpicking really.

I forgot to waste my money on a fdd .
Anyway, in the end i managed to get these parts together for 941.841 USD which i am very happy for
And parts left from old pc to be used with new pc

Keyboard+mouse: white logitech internet keyboard and cheap logitech laser mouse
Only thing left to upgrade in your system, is video card
I first put in 6600gt 128mb ddr3 version, but had an oppertunity to switch it to a 7600gt without money loss so.. yeah.. next thing is a monitor, and then, a video card, like the likes of 8800gt :P
overall, i think i managed to put together a good pc for that money =]

I take your PC and put my RAM in. Then i'd be happy :P
Strobe, how much $ did that rig cost ? I so wanted that p182 case :> but i just couldnt stretch my pocket for it...
E8400 was ~£120, RAM was ~£40, 8800GT was ~£170, Mobo was a bargain at only ~£80, and the P182 was equally a bargain at only ~£70. It went back up to it's usual price the day after I ordered it.

Hard drives, optical drives, peripherals, PSU, and other bits and pieces were all carried over from my previous system, which meant the cost of this build was a lot more manageable.
932.295 USD

yeah you got it cheap. but i neede all components, and in our stores the e8400 costs ~ 160pounds, i got it for 135pounds.. and i couldnt use anything from my old system, it was just TOO OLD The antec case sure is sweet money well spent id say
