System of a down is pop?

I'm quite happy to admit that I pay no attention to the lyrics in songs, even when I'm really listening to music. I'm sure I'm missing out on a lot of thought provoking material, but frankly, if I wanted to pay attention to other people's thoughts, I'd be at the pub. It also means I'm perfectly happy listening to music in other languages, or instrumentals, and don't feel like anything is missing (although it is nice to sing along).

I agree with that, kind of. Some songs you 'have' to listen to the lyrics, they really do having meanings. Then when you listen to songs that are sung in a foreign language you have no choice (unless you know the language) but to just listen to the song. Even then theres songs that are 'sung' in english but make no sense at all, Cannibal Corpse or Morbid Angel anyone?

System Of A Down's lyrics are random as fudge but some of them are quite good, just a few of them. They're kind of like Marmite, you either love them or hate them.
Quote from Klutch :From my understanding they're still under a Haitus.

Yes. They're on an 'indefinite hiatus'.

Serj Tankian's new album is absolutely brilliant, I agree.

Same here. Even if I listen to Finnish lyrics, I often don't have any clue what they're about if someone asks me.
Agreed. I really enjoy Rammstein and Finntroll, but I don't have a bloody clue what they're singing about.

Rammstein kick arse, and yeah I don't have a clue what they're going on about. They've done a few english tracks and they were pretty damn good, Stripped being their best english one.

Oomph! are pretty good if you like Rammstein, quite similar if you ask me.
Rammstein's lyrics are very very very great.

Believe me.

I had someone try to teach me some german but it went in one ear and straight out the other. Just like at school, I was never one for learning a new language, I'm never going to need it in the long run so I didn't bother.

I know some of the easy and obvious track titles to Rammsteing songs (Mutter, Sonne, Adios, Ich Will) but that's about it.
This thread makes me say Ohh god........

IMO, they got better lyrically wise with almost every new album they made. Their second last album "Reise, Reise" is just amazing. As are "Spring" and "Mann gegen Mann" from the last album "Rosenrot".

I don't think the lyrics can keep the same meaning in a translation, though. They use so many metaphors and use the german language like no other current band, IMO.

I absolutely love Rosenrot album, probably my favourite.

I've asked some german people to translate some lines but they said half of it was bullshit, made up words or something.

And reading some translated lyrics online somewhere, some of them just don't sound right if you get me.

Also i wouldnt class Tokyo Hotel as proper metal because it sucks totally and they cannot sing imo. I would class it as some crappy rock :/

I don't even class tokio hotel as music at all.

A bunch of kids that think the key for a great band are the looks? No thanks. (and btw their looks are really crap) And I don't see why they are so famous, because their music is crap too

tokio hotel do the world a favor and leave the stage.

ps: tokio hotel in Rock in Rio Lisbon, in the same day of "Xutos e Pontapés", the portuguese Rolling Stones? The music world is really going downhill, and fast...i mean, what is better?

my choice is definetely the second one
Yeah, that really is an aberration.

Although Muse playing "support" for Linking Park (at RIR aswell) comes close
.. Muse playing support for Linkin Park...

That'd be like F1 being a support race to a ****ing 6 year old karting event.
i hate rock as it is,but at my workplace the oldguys all listen to it,so i learned about zeppelin, van halen(?),ozzy(?),pink floyd, rush.
And as i see ozzy(?) is playing metal right?

I only remembered this line "ich habe keine lust onanieren" from the album.

Oh, there are A LOT more lines that you will like then. Basically at least one in every second song.

black sabath (with ozzy) began metal music, one of the first band or first who has genre "metal" . And label means style of music most of pop, numetal, poprok, techno, house and other pc made crap sound bad to me,but there is some(maybe 0.01% that I like,so quite high chance 99.99% that i wont like song from that label)
Yeah, there are a lot of similarities between Zep and early Sabbath, but there's a definite line with Zep being more on the 'rock' side and Sabbath on the 'Metal'.
