The online racing simulator
I also am having problems keeping connectivity to the UKCT box, but when I asked around yesterday, nobody else (in N.A.) was.

Very very strange I say.

EDIT: A simple tracert shows large problems with a hop which (following shawcables hop naming scheme) would be in Winnipeg. Excellent I say! <.<
CTRA servers ping increase
I do not know where to post / PM this.
I have been experiencing a high ping increase with all CTRA servers lately (1-2 weeks?)
CTRA servers were 49-75ms, and I now receive 150-180ms pings from all CTRA servers.
All other servers unchanged, for example CD servers (also UK based?) are still in the 50ms
My provider is in Switzerland and I have not noticed any other modification with my connection.

Any idea about what caused this / how to improve it or further testing?

Is it still acceptable / playable for the other drivers if I play with a 150ms ping? I did not enter a crowded CTRA server since this issue appeared fearing it may ruin other's races.
Thank you
I play with a 180 ms ping, just because of location and it's never a huge issue. Although I too have had issues lately with connectivity to the UKCT box.
I've had some problems in the last couple of days, but they're finally being resolved. It was a fault at my ISP's end.

I'm not sure why you guys are having problems reaching the UKCT box, but I imagine it relates to international routing issues. There are many different routes into datacentres in the UK, and if you finish up on a poor route then you can expect higher pings than you should.

Mille, go to Start > Run.. type in "CMD". Press Enter

Type "tracert raceauthority.com" and press Enter. This will trace the route that data travels from your computer to the CTRA servers and should give you an idea of where the fault lies.

Here's my route to CTRA:-

My route is artificially long at the moment, because of repairs, but it's a good route for gameplay.
Has the whole UKCT network just imploded?

EDIT.. i take it back...was obviously me that imploded
We are aware of a technical fault with the raceauthority.com web site and are correcting this now.

It has now been fixed as of 2205

Ok. I lost that but i also cant stay connected to a CTRA server for more than 4 mins at a time without timing out. It's only happening on your servers.

Edit:- Ignore that....something very weird is happening at the moment. Cant contact loads of websites and cant connect to the LFS master server now. Obviously nothing to do with your servers.
The website problem is fixed. I had to clear some space on the C drive. It literally choked to the point that MySQL couldn't add data to the CTRA database and the website couldn't create an HTML render of a page to send to the client. I've deleted 30GB of Dustin's handy clippings of HTML stash (his collection of Playboy "I never thought these letters were true.." stories.. ) [Dustin Note - I wrote some of those! <.< ] , so we have some breathing space now.
Website is showing :

Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a0411'
Name redefined
/inc/buddies.asp, line 17
Dim Repeat1__numRows

Cheers! I fixed it within a few seconds.. should be fine now
I just clicked on Raise new report from my CTRA page & the same happened?
Weeeeird! I just re-uploaded the file. I *think* it's okay now... but keep me posted!! LOL!
Sam, I think the buddys system should be a popup.
I'm going to do one that people can float, and keep up so they don't have to constantly check the site. It'll update automatically like the chat room

Tested last night a few iterations,
my route apparently goes to the US and back
final ping to UKCT min 139 max 204ms... average around 180ms

It is playable and did not alter my driving any further
Thank you for your time.

You could always write an app that sits in the system tray *shrugs*
CTRA is down down down down down down down down.
Wow!

My bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad!!!
Quote from March Hare :You two are lagging terribly.

:ices_rofl

Anyway, I can't see the CTRA user bars in the signatures

As they are hosted on the UKCT servers, it's not a surprise.
The whole shebang is down because they are moving to another server or something.

Check the know know -link.
Oh I see, thanks!
